I am a fan of Cheeseburger in Paradise. I am sure there are better burger places out there but this restaurant has a cute atmosphere and different variations on the burger… for example my boyfriend once ordered a hot dog cheeseburger(all the topping of a hot dog). The drinks are yummy and they have fried pickles… who could ask for anything more! Also, they have outdoor dining during the summer months and from what I hear the patio is dog friendly… although I have yet to try this! Every time I have been here the service has been prompt and friendly. I look forward to returning… especially in the winter months when a meal at the topical looking Cheeseburger in Paradise can be a mirage of a much needed vacation!

These places are all over the country. Their food is horrible… Their frozen mixed drinks are excellent. Its Called Cheeseburger in Paradise… not Frozen Drinks in Paradise. When this chain first started their burgers were much better than they are now. They just plain aren’t good. If you are to go here, skip the food. Get yourself a great piña colada or any of their other delicious drinks. They have a long list of tropical mixed drinks.

After the proprietor’s comment here, I thought I should clarify some things. I don’t dispute that many menu items are«prepared fresh to order and are made in house.» That’s all well and good, but freshness or location of preparation is probably not the issue here. Very greasy food will make many people sick. Possible cross-contamination could make people sick(as in, handling my veggie patty with the same tongs used to handle a meat patty while it is being cooked, which is a distinct possibility since my veggie patty tasted like hamburger grease and was sent back after three bites on one of my visits). As for allergies, yes, I’m lactose intolerant, and if an uninformed staff member answers my questions about ingredients incorrectly, I might very well order something that contains something that will make me unwell. Perhaps I should add to my earlier comments and say that one possible reason for all those post-meal bathroom visits could be that the food is simply greasy. Some people like very greasy food and digest it just fine. Those of us who find that eating loads of grease may result in vomiting and/or diarrhea, however, will not enjoy our meals here. I don’t see what asking me to come back and try the food again will accomplish unless the menu has changed a great deal and there are new preparation methods. Otherwise, I will just end up eating the same greasy veggie burger or the same salad whose dressing I was told does not contain dairy but actually does and get sick all over again… not an appealing offer.

Reminds me very much of Islands Burgers & Fries back home. Nice restaurant, outdoor seating. Food was so-so. I got the BBQ burger with pepperjack cheese, fries were okay. Strawberry lemonade was a little sour, but no serioius complaints here. Service was attentive.

Food here is fine. Typical restaurant & bar quality + some tropical themed items. Burger choices are numerous and varied. Sitting at the bar can be a blast. One bartender was doing bottle tricks chatting up customers. Definitely a good time when that guy is there. Other staff members are fun and attentive. Friday night karaōke is awesome. Tons of songs to choose from while downing cheap drinks can be a blast. Put songs in early because the wait can be a bit long sometimes. The inside has a tropical theme going on. It’s nothing extraordinary but it does the job. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is fun. This can definitely be a fun place for a small group of people.

OK, so becoming a bigger fan of this place. The manager wrote me based on the poor service that led to my last review. To me that’s not only customer service but good management. And for a family and at the price, soooo much better than Five Guys. My wife ordered a grilled cheese at Five Guys and she got a hamburger bun with the top lopped off and soggy cheese in the middle! Overall, Cheeseburger in Paradise is a good place to take the family and something different.

Cheeseburger in Paradise is the perfect, low-key, casual eatery that I have been looking to find for quite sometime. It’s burgers, chicken, wraps, and exotic drinks, all in a bit of cheesy atmosphere. But for me and for my husband, the fact that they have a Gluten Free menu puts this place over the top. I’ve known about Cheeseburger in Paradise for awhile, but until recently, I had always thought it was some sort of fast food burger establishment. But while on the hunt for some new Gluten Free options for dinner, I came across their website on Unilocal and found a superbly thorough menu that has been created under the authority of the Gluten Intolerance Group(GIG)…yeah! So exciting! There is literally no other local American style eatery, with burgers, chicken, etc., that offers this type of extensive menu. The greatest part of the whole thing? They have Gluten Free fries… and they really are Gluten Free because they are fried in their own fryer. Again… Yeah! My husband and I dined here on a Saturday night. We noticed that the parking was a slight issue in the area because the lot right by the restaurant only allows for 2-hour parking. This isn’t a problem for a quick lunch during a work break, but if you are looking to hang out with friends for awhile at the bar, you are going to have to find alternative parking. The restaurant also seems to have a nice outdoor area that should be great to enjoy the summer breezes. The restaurant was not too crowded, so we sat down at our table right away. Ryan was our waiter and he was GREAT! He knew all about Gluten Free food and was extremely knowledgeable when answering our questions(like when we wanted to confirm that the fries were made in a separate fryer). Hubby ordered the salmon with fries and I ordered a Turkey Avocado Wrap with salsa and ranch on the side, also with seasoned fries. The only issue we ran into was when our orders did arrive, they messed up my husband’s because they put the Salmon on the gluten filled rice and broccoli(the broccoli was seasoned with some sort of soy sauce). The young girl that brought us our meal, took it back to the kitchen. I warned her to make sure that the chef did not just take the fish off of the plate and put it back onto a new plate with fries. Sure enough, when she came back, she told us that the chef almost gave us the same fish(which had already been gluten contaminated with the rice and broccoli) on a bed of fries. She caught it and saved my husband some misery. Yes, I have to admit that it was disappointing that I had to remind the kitchen not to do such a thing, but at least it was taken care of and handled properly. My husband and I have learned that you never can really rely on a kitchen to do the right thing 100% of the time so checking and doubling checking, no matter how annoying it might seem, is required. When our server Ryan came back to the table, he apologized profusely for the mess-up. Since my food had been provided correctly, I was forced to eat by myself while my husband watched me until his food arrived in the next 10 minutes. It definitely wasn’t the most ideal situation, but we were compensated by the staff when the manager decided to remove the cost of my husband’s meal from the bill. This showed us that they cared about their mistake and wanted to make sure we came back. They chose to put Customer Service first for us, and we really appreciated it. Once we did both complete our meals, we were very satisfied. The Salmon was solid and my Wrap was very flavorful, although I would probably skip the salsa next time and just stick with the ranch dressing. As a result of the tasty food and excellent Customer Service, I’m rating this restaurant as a 4-star. If I hadn’t been so impressed by how they treated us, I probably would have kept my rating to a 3-star. Regardless, I’m excited to go back and experience some more Cheeseburger in Paradise very soon!

«Brittany» is of Latin origin meaning«from England». I am not sure what my mom was thinking, since I was born and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago, but she was born in England so in a way, it fits. Slightly. Or maybe it was the drugs, since there were 13 other names on my birth certificate before she settled on «from England». I don’t question. Regardless of my name’s inaccurate description, I usually expect restaurants to live up to their name. If you are going to call yourself«cheeseburger in paradise», I am going to expect to consume some heaven on earth with an onion slice in a very relaxing and Walden-like environment. Ok, at least a calm and comfortable one. This Cheeseburger in Paradise, instead, is pretty… junky. The seating is uncomfortable, the colors are anything but calming and the theme of the beach seems to have thrown up all over everything. OK, so I get the song and the concept and the fact that it’s a burger chain and I should really stop expecting an Oasis, but to be on the other side of the spectrum – so non-paradise-like – really sets this«From England» American off. The burgers are fine. The service is so-so. The paradise-inspired drinks are surprisingly strong and make the chintzy environment a little more bearable. I also enjoy a friend pickle appetizer now and again. I am not really offended they want to call themselves«paradise». Paradise is subjective, afterall. And how successful would«cheeseburger in a tacky, overly-themed shoddy place» be as a marketing campaign or a song?

Went here for a power work lunch. My co-worker swears by the cheeseburgers, so what do I order? A chicken salad. Smooth. We came for a quickie, but saw that Froots had been shut down for quite some time, so we chose this place, again, based on the recommendation. There were perhaps six people throughout the whole joint on a sunny, warm Thursday afternoon in the heat of LunchRush. Interesting. We get the menus and I do a double take. FRESCA! With free refills! Again, I got the salad and she got a salad as well if I remember correctly, after our spinach dip was done. I find it very hard to believe that someone can ‘mess’ up a salad. They didn’t, but it was huge. So why the three stars? Well, the bartender was staring at us. I get the polite look every once in awhile, but this guy was staring a laser THROUGH me, and even after we locked eyes, he wouldn’t look away. It was like a bro-down was going to happen. Our waitress even made a comment to me about the same thing. So yeah, I knock it down two. Would I come back? I plan on it tomorrow just because I want that dip again. And Fresca on a menu? Yes yes yes.

Irrelevant note: their website makes me want to book a vacay to the tropics, STAT! So. I didn’t have a cheeseburger and I wouldn’t exactly call it paradise, but it was fine. The staff was cheery and knew how to craft a good foo foo drink, and the menu has a ton of options including gluten-free items. I sprang for the Calypso Chicken Salad, which is a bed of greens topped with roasted chicken, strawberries, pineapples, mandarin oranges, apples, candied almonds, red onions tossed with and a refreshing Citrus Vinaigrette dressing. It wasn’t quite as good as it reads, but it hit the spot and staved off the hunger pangs. My friend really enjoyed her chicken satay… I should have snagged a bite! Seems like a happening happy hour spot if you find yourself in Des Plaines… the bar was bumpin’ at 6 pm! They also feature live bands– may be worth checking out when you feel like getting your island vibes on!

The reviews are funny, it’s like a split between Chicagoans and suburban people. I think what irritates Suburbanites(that love these types of establishments) is they don’t try to understand the negative reviews. In Chicago, we have tons of places to go to and can find something just like this. Moving along. Stopped in for the first time randomly, you could say I always wondered despite all the horrible stories I’ve heard people tell about how boring this business is in general. What was the draw for me? Piña colada. Ever since an awesome trip to Miami earlier this year, I’ve been nutty for a good Piña colada. At any time they offer 2 – 3 kinds of it. I like the standard one with fruit bits; consisting of pineapple and I think coconut. It’s quite filling and if you have one or two(max) you may not be able to eat a full meal. I wanted two, badly, but stuck to one since we ordered some appetizers to share. Two bartenders and both were helpful and happy. Happy enough to top off the drinks with a bit more rum. There were plenty of staff members moving about, customers were mostly families and older couples on this early evening of drinks. Food was average, your typical gimmicky flavorful, colorful menu with many options. With the front windows(doors) wide open, the use of fake trees, and Hawaiian décor. I felt transported somewhere else. Especially when the rum kicked in. I don’t think I’d drive out here again just for this, but if in the area I would come back for another Piña colada.(P.C.$ 6.75) They have a draft that is made special for them from the Leinenkugel peeps, an Amber which runs special for $ 2.75; currently. If you are reading my review before sitting down for a meal, could you do me a favor and try the chocolate nachos? It sounds and looks utterly fantastic, I didn’t have the stomach space for it.

hmmmm… so what’s up with you? I am normally a JB fan but… My daughter and I strolled in here on one of the only nice nights this summer. The best thing about the evening was that we got to sit outside. Waitress: too much bounce not enough waiting The popcorn shrimp was good.(the dip a tad too spicey for this ol’ tummy) We ea had slushes. I had the watermelon and my daughter had mango.(as with any alcoholic bev A++) Ok, then for dessert we ordered the chocolate nacho thingy. Not only did you just basically throw it on the table and split. I had to go to someone else and track down spoons for it. Waisting much ice cream eating time. AND the nacho’s? The chocolate one’s were very good(next time pls put more strawberries on them pls). The vanilla one’s? They tasted like day old grease! What the heck? Then, they had hermit crab races there(O, Michael Vick…) And I want you to know, this kinda crappy review is NOT because my hermit crab lost. Really, it’s not

I’m sick enough of the bashing from Unilocalers here; this isn’t «Whiners» so try to be cool about cutting down a decent business. CHEESEBURGERS is a Jimmy Buffet franchise that is friendly with excellent wait staff and for an after work hangout, terrific. My buddy and I had a couple of beers(try the house ale: 22 oz) and the almost mandatory«cheeseburger in paradise» with sweet potato chips. Love it: Large burger, loaded. Appetizer was the basket of onion rings that are a variation on the Hackney’s onion loaf except nicely battered, loose and served with a dipping sauce: perfect with a decent beer. Hackney’s has met a challenger here. Two beers at the table, onion ring app and burgers: $ 35ish plus tip, which is, let’s face it, an affordable $ 16 per plus tip. The coconut shrimp, btw is just $ 3 more. Box up half if you must for dessert. For summers, the sidewalk’s open for small tables, so plenty of fresh air and the plasmas around the bar are tuned to sports coverage(and with a no-hitter today at the Cell, you kinda wanna know). Decent parking all around and yes, you scurvy critics, a block or so from the Choo Choo, which is an area icon, but not a tropical chain hang-out: choose wisely, grasshoppers. The shrimp is good and the menu is perky, happy stuff. The staff is very attentive. And yeah, I’m sure there are plenty of places in around Chicago that can tangle with Cheeseburger, but this is Des Plaines, around the corner from the movie house and around shopping; Deal. On a rainy evening, it is a good bet for drinks and a laugh OR you can drive down the road to Paradise Pup and stand in line for 45 minutes to prove your infinitely hip knowledge of Food Network places for grub. Don’t know if it is good for kids, but I’d say yes, just, ya know, curb your kids; this is a grown-up’s fun franchise. BTW, tip well; they earn it.

CHEESY, Cheeseburger In Paradise! It really is, but I love it! I love the decoration and the island-y concept. I’ve dined here twice, but can’t find what I ordered on the online menu currently. Drinks come with cute garnishes… I got a sunglasses pin. You also get a mini gummy burger with your check. Pseudo after-dinner-mint. One of the salads I got had long, crispy banana slices. Interesting. The sweet potato fries are pretty dece. Definitely a place I’d enjoy coming to again, especially in the warm, summer weather. Makes me feel like I’m next to a beach. Sadly, I’m next to the train tracks. Darn!

Oh that Blackberry Pina Colada was the bomb!!! It was so yummy I wanted to order another. Hands down it was the best piña colada I have had in a long time. I started out with the chicken and sausage gumbo. I’m not sure what happen to the sausage part but there was not a piece in the soup, it was a little cold, and certainly not the best I have had. I figured since they were known for the cheeseburger why not order that. It was very tasty but huge after gulping down that piña colada it was hard for me to finish the burger. The fries were ok. I think for a good lunch spot and to have awesome drinks i will definitely return who can turn down good drinks?

Not sure what I was expecting. No– that’s not true. What I was expecting was a version of the Margaritaville restaurant located in Old Town in Key West. That one is actually owned by Jimmy Buffet. This place? Owned by Outback Steakhouse and tries to be a cool, restaurant with some sort of a tiki hut theme but falls short given it’s location in a strip mall with a few table outside overlooking the parking lot. I was way off my beaten path but I wanted a drink and someone suggested this place given we were in the area. Fine. How bad can it be just to drink a drink? Beer was cold. Good. Margarita was good(I could have lived with out the orange section that was«dolled«up to look like a smiling beach ball though that came in the drink). Bartender was friendly. Cubs were winning. So what was wrong? The whole place seemed dirty. There were crumbs on the bar and chair from whoever had sat there before. The bar was sticky– ick. The bathrooms were downright filthy disgusting. And I always wonder if the bathrooms look like that– what does the kitchen look like? This place seems fairly new as the strip mall it’s in looks new. But even the tiki thatched roof over the bar couldn’t make up for the place not seeming clean. Cheeseburgers in Paradise? Hardly a paradise. More like Cheeseburgers in Mediocrity. Hmm. . Doesn’t have quite the same ring!

I think people are taking it way, way too seriously – more seriously than it takes itself. That is why I would go there again. I LOVE Cheeseburger in Paradise because it is so cheesy(forgive the pun). It’s a themed tiki restaurant, what do you expect? It isn’t so over the top as to make you sick, which is the feeling I got from visiting Margaritaville in Las Vegas. At least CP doesn’t have slutty mermaids and captains on stilts walking around. Oh yea, and no Margaritaville playing every short-lived musical rotation with servers blasting whistles. True, the food isn’t the best that I have ever had, but prices are decent and everything is tasty enough. The drinks are cute and the menu offers a wide selection. There was a live band the first time I went there. They really got the crowd involved. That’s what makes for a good atmosphere. It’s just a good pick if you want to have some fun. Plus, as far as the area, it is one of the only places that is open late.

i was here once and saw a bunch of families with kids, grandparents and parents with the look. The look of the defeated. They no longer had the eye of the tiger and all they could look forward to was the lawn surviving the season’s new batch of weeds and crabgrass. It was over for these people as they appeared to enjoy the cheesy motif, the cheesy bar band and even the cheesier menu. If you sold your soul to mortgages are the devil realty and now only live through your 100+ channels of satellite tv and endless soccer team car washes where your one chance to see the one hot Milf in bikini top is your only source of satisfaction… go here and enjoy.
