El Fast Burrito

I liked this place up until today. Ordered a burrito. The girl behind the counter bent down under the counter for a minute. She comes up and gets my change from the drawer and proceeds to throw my money on the counter at me. Never again!

If there was zero stars that’s what I would get it !! Seriously this place it’s good, but can’t stand the people that work here. They’re rude had brought 8 tacos told them no sour cream, get all the way home and of course theres sour cream so I go back they’re getting ready to close which I don’t care it’s their fault in the first place. While waiting they wouldn’t stop laughing and talking in Spanish there was three bags on the counter and showed me there was no sour cream in the tacos before I left… get home and checked they gave me the wrong bag and there’s sour cream! Freaking bs waste of time and money!

So I’ve been continuing to eat at this place… and the food is great. I originally thought that the negative attitude of the people who worked here was kind of funny because I honestly had minimal interaction with them, but after my last visit here, I’m kind of bummed out. I went there, they forgot to include any salsa so I asked for some which was alright, but then I got home and realized they had forgotten my drink. Honestly if these people weren’t so miserable toward their customers I would think my above complaints were petty, but you can’t screw up your service AND be a dick. There’s about as many Mexican restaurants and Taquerias around here as there are Starbucks, so I’m taking my money there from now on.

Ordered here from Grubhub at 7:39PM, said it would be delivered at 8:30pm, I called there at 8:53PM and they said 12 more minutes. I called back at 9:15PM and there was no answer. My food just showed up at 9:35PM. So 2 hours after I ordered my food it finally shows up. NEVER going here again! Worst service I’ve ever received.

Finally! Mexican delivery! Just tried El Fast Burrito in Des Plaines for the first time. Wow! Fast, hot, fresh, accurate, and best of all — amazing taste! I will be ordering again.

I would give this zero stars if they let me. Horrible. Tried delivery, they never attempted to deliver and after an hour and a half when I called they lied, said they had tried to deliver when they hadn’t been to my apartment nor tried to reach me by phone or email said they wouldn’t make the food again and they wouldn’t bother trying to deliver.
You cannot throw a rock without finding a Mexican place in this area and clearly, by the reviews, they are not the best when it comes to quality so you’d think they’d want to stand out with service. Guess not.
You want Mexican? Go anywhere else but here.

Great place for a quick, cheap, and a very good taco, burrito, torta. Been here about 5 times now and not once was I treated rudely. The steak and chicken stuffins appear to be fresh, at least fresher than the competitors near by.
The $ 1 days are a bonus but I’ve been here on the normal price days and they’re still a bargain.
What i do not like is that they have now doubled the soda refills from .25/.50 to .50÷1.00, and the onions and cilantro are no longer free … at 20 cents per item.
Dining room is large, and because it’s in a strip mall parking is abundant.
Big fan of their Salsa Verdi, no so much of their other.
4 Stars for the food. 2 Stars for the recent price increases.

As the name suggests, El Fast Burrito offers standard Mexican fare for those in a hurry. Daily specials like Taco Tuesday and Sope specials are offered. I like the al pastor tacos but most everything I’d rate at 3 stars except the rice, which consistently sucks. Why do I get it each week? Good question… El Fast Burrito is a good quick stop to fill you up with average Mexican food for a good price. They also offer fresh juices like agua de jamaica and horchata.

The foods some what ok. But the cashier with the grey and black chicago hat always seems to have an attitude. I would only come here on the 99 cent taco days the food isnt worth the prices they offer.

I have been a customer here for as long as they have been in business and back to when they were called El Famous Burrito (for over 20 years). Sometimes the food is good and sometimes it has not been so good. Reading one of the previous reviews, I never really paid attention to the fact that they are not real friendly towards non-​Spanish speaking customers, but now that you mention it, the guy never greets me but just stands there and looks at me with a stone face, then takes my order. Maybe that is why he was so extremely rude to me when I later called over the phone to complain about my order. I have never done that before, but I was very disappointed that my junior burrito had no beans on it at all. That is why I bought it instead of the usual tacos I get. He told me the cook DID put beans in it and argued with me about it and then lied and said you can’t tell the beans are there because they are cooked with the meat. He refused to offer any sort of compensation without my bringing the burrito back and showing it to him. It was an hour and a half after I purchased it and I wasn’t about to get dressed again and drive all the way back there, plus I was hungry and tired. I took that burrito apart and there was not one single bean to be found. He said he wasn’t giving me anything for free, even when I suggested maybe half off on a junior burrito the next time. No deal without seeing it for himself and bringing the old burrito back. How foolish to lose a long-​time customer over a $ 4.00 burrito. I am sure he doesn’t care. Well, neither do I. I can go many other places. WORST customer service.

I’ve been coming here for a long time. This place is awesome and their prices are great. Make sure you stop by on Tuesdays and Sundays for their $ 1 taco deals. These guys are really fast. It’s called The Fast Burrito for a reason! Definitely stop by.

I’ve been going to this location every once in awhile for the past oh, almost 10 years. I never would’ve said the food was anything past ‘okay’ Mexican food. That changed when I went last Saturday. I got 2 steak tacos and one chicken taco. THE BEST TACOS I’VE EVER HAD. The meat had a nice flavor, the meat tasted fresh off the grill. Tacos had very generous portions. I wanted to come back for ‘taco sunday’ but didn’t really feel like going out of my way (I live in Mt Prospect, so the one at Mt Prospect and Central is closer). HUGE MISTAKE. The one on MtP and Central is AWFUL. I never cared with it to begin with, however, once you have the Lee/​Algonquin one, you will keep going back. The salsa at the DP one is amazing too. The red one I kind of had to get used to, but once you do, it pairs SO WELL with the tacos!

A pretty decent sized place for a Des Plaines strip mall taco joint. There is plenty of seating but few workers and it will take some time to get the meal especially if there is a line. Aside from that the food was decent enough and the place looked clean with some fine Mexican inspired paintings. a place that refers itself as fast burritos needs to get the food out more quickly.

Dry but flavorful chicken burrito done competently. I probably wouldn’t go back, given that there are better choices in the neighborhood.

Come here pretty much every Sunday for $ 1 tacos they are tasty and cheap the rice is also very good

I started a new job and as part of the initial co worker bonding I was invited to «Taco Tuesday». The one dollar taco place!
All the taco sauce you can eat !

I try to make it every tues and some sundays.

This place is ok for $ 1 tacos which are small but understandable at that price. The sauce is good in both red and green.
I have been here at least 15 times in the last few months and I always notice how the counter people never greet English speakers very well as compared to the Spanish speakers. I have mentioned this to my lunch friends who have confirmed the bias in customer service and smiles. Just sit there and pay attention, you will see warm smiles to Hispanics and bland or no greetings to everyone else.
One star for that!!!

I cannot believe all the good reviews on here. Do you all have taste buds? There is a reason it’s called El Fast, it’s fast and awful. Chicken was strips like you would get from a pre-​cooked bag. Ground beef was barely recognizable as meat and so was the steak. It’s pretty sad that even with dollar tacos being offered, I still refuse to eat it for fear I may get sick from the meat. If you want real Mexican, go across the street to Taqueria El Gallo De Oro.

Restaurant is decently sized. Staff is friendly.
I had the nachos with ground beef which was good. Only ate about half the plate, decent portion for a $ 6 meal.
