In the years since my last review, I have seen Stephen numerous times. Initially, I visited him to clean-up of a half-sleeve. Because I was so happy with the finished piece, I have since had an extensive amount of work done. As a person who has tried a few artists, I can honestly say that I would recommend Stephen to anyone. However, this does come with one warning. If you only want one little tattoo, he may not be a good fit. I say this because you’ll soon become so happy with the art and the experience, you’ll end up addicted… not that there’s anything wrong with that!

This is my go-to when I want to get some ink done. There are a few key differences between this place and your«traditional» tattoo shops. Which way you prefer is up to your preference. If you are thinking its one of those open floor setups where people come in and go to get there tattoos during lunch time, this place is not it. This place resembles more like a doctors’ office, and its an extremely good thing. It has separate enclosed rooms and they stress safety and cleanliness. I have been talking to one of the shop workers there and they said that they no longer do the Chicagoland tattoo expos because they seen some unsanitary conditions there and practices. If you like going to the tattoo expos, more power to ya. What I’m trying to illustrate is that«Perfection Dermagraphics» value quality and cleanliness as their number one priority. And you may already realized this from the name, but they also do makeup and stuff. So if ya want your eyebrows tattooed permanently, you can do that here too. So anywho, the way it works here at least is you go in for a consultation. You bounce off ideas and/or show them a drawing/sketch that you want. They’ll take the time(2weeks at least) to sketch your drawing. When they do, they’ll call you(I do see a common Unilocal complain here that they don’t get back to you as speedily as desired. I had a similar situation, but Kurt was super-cool and explained what happened). You come back, check the design and approve it once its all good, and then you schedule an actual tattoo appointment. Another thing that is «different» is that they do limit the time of a session; they do, at a max, 3-hour sessions. I hear places that do tattoos until its done, but that is not the case for this place. Not a huge deal for me, but for others, it may be. I’ve been going to my boy Kurt Jacobsen. He’s a funny dude and very sociable when tattooing. He’s been there for a bit and I love all the ink I got from him. He explains the entire process and makes extra sure you’re comfortable with the entire process. More importantly, he’s a cool dude. What’s also cool is that they guarantee their work. If you’re not happy with your tattoo for some reason, they will work with you to get it done right. I’ve had a tattoo(from another artist) who kind of screwed things up and they are willing to fix the tattoo for absolutely free. Overall, great experience and their quality of work is awesome. BATHROOMREVIEW: Nice and tidy, and well organized, like the rest of their office. Sit or squat? Sit!

I was so excited to schedule a consultation with Steve to discuss my ideas. When I arrived I was told that he was busy(having a smoke) and could I just talk to the receptionist. I reiterated that my appointment was with Steve. He decided to come in from his smoke break and asked me to show him my ideas at the counter. Really? I’m supposed to order up a permanent tattoo like a McDonald’s hamburger. He couldn’t even sit down in the reception area with me. I left and would never recommend this place to anyone. He was completely rude with a degree of arrogance. I would spend the money to drive into the city for a more professional atmosphere.

I have had several tattoos by Stephen Knight over the years and his work is exemplary. Having said that, he seems to have become so busy that customer service has become nonexistent. No return phone calls, no return emails, can’t get an appointment for months. I am really happy that Stephen has become so successful but, due to his lack of response(for months), we have found another artist to work with going forward.

I may get a lot of wrath for this but I believe the public should see the truth about Perfection Demographics. I went in almost a month ago for my «consultation», this consisted of Stephen Knight asking what I wanted(a simple quote with some shading) and then going on to state that he was booked until January. I opted to use the other artist they had so I could have my tattoo done earlier, they told me he would be in contact soon to set up my appointment… two weeks went by no call. I decided to call again to follow up, understanding how busy they are, they then told me he had been out of town and«just got back»(even though he had been in the shop when I went there the first time) and I could expect a call in a few days. Did I receive a call, no! Another week and a half has passed with no word from this so called requitable shop. To say I am disappointed in the professionalism of this place is an understatement. There is one thing to be busy, but to blow off a client, that is just unacceptable. They may do great work but that would require them to actual book you in the«busy schedule».

I am blown away at how talented and professional Stephen Knight is. I had 3 tattoos redone and I am amazed at the color and detail that definitely was NOT there before! I knew that he was going to implement his own style and technique and I totally trusted his judgement and they came out better than I could have ever imagined! I will NEVER go to another tattoo shop as long as I live! I look forward to getting the next 6 tattoos we have in the works!

I got my first tattoo here a few months ago. I came in with some source art and Stephen designed me a gorgeous electric platypus. I am picky when it comes to tattoo quality so I took my time finding a shop in the Chicagoland area. I wanted to get an exceptionally high quality tattoo but also was a little short on funds, luckily the prices here are more than reasonable for the quality of work provided. The whole place was spotless and Stephen is clearly very careful and thorough when it comes to hygienic practices. If you are looking for an absolutely stellar tattoo this is definitely the place to go!

I had cosmetic tattooing done 4 years ago somewhere else and it had basically all faded away so I researched around and found Kate. The reviews were right where they said this place is clean. That’s really important to me and one of the main reasons I chose this place. When she first started, I got scared because I remembered how much pain my first time was… but Kate reassured me that the anesthetics will kick in fast and man did it! Now I’m mad that my first lady made me go through so much pain 4 years ago! Kate did it much faster and it was soooo much easier. One of the best parts is that Kate lets you touchup for free within a year, I think. So any imperfections or fading… go back in and touch it up! I’m really happy with that because my first lady said anything after our two appointments, there would be a charge. This help a lot because its hard to tell how the eyeliner looks right after because there’s minor swelling and it makes the line look much bigger. ARGH. Why didn’t I find you first Kate?!

I’ve gotten a few tattoos here over the past year and they’ve all turned out great! I will never go anywhere else for ink! This place is great!

I will not go anywhere else for a tattoo now I found Perfection after attending the tattoo Freedom Expo in Rosemont. The fact they were located in Des Plaines is what caught my attention since that is also where I’m located and its not like there are too many other tattoo parlors in the NW burbs. First of all, if you aren’t looking for this place or don’t know where it is, you wont find it. It is set within a small group of office type storefronts and looks more like a doctors office than a tattoo parlour, even when you walk in. In fact, if it weren’t for the racks of stock tattoo designs you’d probably think you were signing up for a dental exam. But than you meet the artists. Kurt did my latest tattoo and even though he’s one of their newer artists, he was nothing but professional throughout the entire experience. He didn’t protest once if I asked for something changed or reworked and came across as more concerned for me getting the art done that I really wanted and liked than just inking me and taking the cash. Speaking of cash, their prices were completely and utterly reasonable in terms of ink. Definetly have the best prices around that I’ve found, especially considering the quality you get in return. The place is super clean and super concerned about sanitary issues. I felt very safe the entire time. I can’t speak highly enough of this place, they have all my future business.

There is certainly a reason why you won’t ever read a bad review about Perfection Dermagraphics… they simply don’t exist. This is honestly the best tattooing gets. Stephen Knight, the senior tattooist, is absolutely brilliant and a great guy. All of his work, especially his custom stuff, will have you floored. No wonder he’s practically always working on a piece if you ever walk in the place. He did my first big tattoo and I’m in awe over it. It looks so good and he did great, especially since he worked on me for over 6 hours. He even said he would touch it up for free or add on a bit if I ever wanted to. The best part is that the folks at Perfection really care about their customers. For a week Stephen and I kept in touch via email about the design I wanted. Never once was he or anyone else at Perfection rude or unprofessional. Finally, their prices are outstanding. I was quoted a price online after sending him my design. And when I got to the studio… guess what… it was the same price! I’d like to see Jade Dragon or Tattoo Factory actually do that! In conclusion, you will love this place. It’s immaculate like a doctor’s office and they have great tattoo artists and a great business. If you’re serious about a kickass tattoo, call up Stephen or Joe. And for the ladies that are interested in cosmetic tattooing, Kate and Jen do fabulous work as well.
