They are the absolute RUDEST people in the world. The taste is NOT worth it. They need to be CHECKEDANDPUTINTHEIRPLACE. After witnessing their uncivilized behavior, several customers walked out. Buyer beware.

Some of the best discoveries are made when you are not looking for anything at all. I recently made a trip to Tampa, Florida from New York. In keeping with the spirit of the venture(not a pleasure trip), I had a lay-over in the Chicago O’Hare International Airport. For me, air travel is now reminiscent of pioneer days when the only sustenance available consisted of whatever items you could carry. I usually walk through the airport with my mind focused on my destination with only a good book for a distraction. However, while making the long trek from one gate to another in the large terminal, I was stopped in my tracks by the display case of the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Something about the rows upon rows of crisp granny smith apples covered in sweet delights was just mesmerizing! I am rarely attracted to candied apples.(They inspire visions of mushy apples covered in over-sweet coatings which result in unpleasant dental visits.) The display somehow made me feel that this would be different. It was! The walnut caramel apple that I purchased was perfect. The granny smith apple was firm and crisp with just the right level of tartness. The caramel was smooth, creamy and not too sweet. The balance of flavors was just lovely. The walnut coating added a beautiful nuttiness and great texture. It was one of those moments when food makes you feel that all is right in your world. It almost makes me want to add another unnecessary Chicago layover to my next trip!

This is one of those shops that just draws you in! I was walking through terminal 1 at O’Hare airport, checking out the possibilities for a quick meal when I saw the rows of different candy and caramel covered apples in the front window of the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I went inside and saw even more sweet and chocolaty goodness!; Chocolate covered cherries with the stems still attached, and in another case, nearly any kind of chocolate or chocolate candy creation one could imagine. The best part is that many of these items are made fresh, on-site each day. While having some food at a nearby restaurant, the thought of the«Apple Pie Carmel Apple» here at Rocky Mountain kept playing on my mind. I stopped back here and grabbed one of those along with a bottle of water. I wouldn’t say this caramel apple tasted exactly like apple pie, but this tasty treat(a granny smith apple coated in caramel, gooey white icing and rolled in brown sugar and cinnamon), was incredibly good and well worth the calories(screw it, I’ll jog a few extra laps later to make up for it!) Pricing wasn’t terrible, but with all of the many taxes(IL& expo tax, bottled water tax, IL state & expo tax, etc.) it ended up costing nearly $ 10 for a caramel apple and a bottle of water. Not cheap, but OMG, it was Sooo Goood!
