Delicious!!! Such a great place for a tiny hole in the wall. Reminds me of Japan. Sushi is excellent and super fresh and their plating for everything is very beautiful and fancy.

Omg! LOVEDIT… Food was out pretty fast, service was amazing, our waitress’s Jessica was so cute and pleasing to my boyfriend and myself. I feel as If I was in a whole different world drinking my Japanese beer Sapporo in my mini cold glass. Prices due very but you can find tapas starting at 4 – 10 $.

Kimchi was great! Rolls were so-so. Service was SLOW. We almost left before our rolls came.

Terrible sushi. Fish not fresh at all. Teriyaki chicken was returned. Tiny pieces of chicken in a greasy pool over greasier vegetables over rice. Waitress was great. I’m still here. Just gross and I wish it wasn’t. On top of all that they charged us 16 dollars for 2 pieces of old ass tuna belly. Talked to the owner and told her we were not happy and that it was a rip off. She didn’t give a shit.

Pro: great friendly service, great Korean food(yes! They own by Korean!) reasonable prices, cozy little place with tons of alcohol selection. Cons: Benton is small small. We add on order like x time. Food portion is on small side. Pork cutlet was dry and over sauced. Salmon skin taste like wood chip… Worse of all. WTH happen with the sushi rice? Over power by vinegar and hard, not fully cooked… yes we are in the middle of no where. But the steam rice that came w my pork tasted better…

Sushi in desert place? I only went there Coz the review was pretty good. I know I can’t trust all the review basically Coz diff people has diff taste. This not an Asian place, so I can’t judge this way. Service was bad, maybe a bit slow since our party was retry much. Sushi was so so, the rice was a bit to hard for us. Maybe other like the texture of it. We also had order Korean seaweed salad, was good. Spicy Korean ramen was good too. But the ramen are just out of the instant noodle. But cost $ 6.00, ok I guess? One time experience ok for me, since just came here for hot spring, but don’t will be back again.

My family and I are visiting Desert Hot Springs from the LA area. This used to be a Korean restaurant a couple years ago and were surprised to see a sushi restaurant in the desert! We LOVE sushi and they were on point. The presentation was beautiful! Portions were decent. Prices are a little higher than LA area, but I’m guessing it’s cuz they’re so far away from the sea. The service was ok. The parking is small. Inside is equally small, so go when it’s empty like we did.

This is by far the best sushi I’ve had in a very very long time. Everything we had was so fresh and masterfully done. I’m from Malibu and eat at nobu and other well known sushi places often and I have to say that this tops the list for me. The sashimi was so fresh and cut in thick slices so you actually tasted the quality of the fish. The sushi was perfectly done and melted in my mouth. The roll had so much flavor and technique I couldn’t even fathom how it tasted so good! Keep up the good work!!!

The Sushi here was excellent! I had the spicy tuna roll both crunchy and not crunchy, my husband had the crazy girl and another roll that had jalapeño in it. We also tried the fried rice with chicken, it was SO good and came with a salad with a really tasty salad dressing. The service was friendly and prompt. We have since ordered to go and plan to eat here often.

Who knew you could get great sashimi in the desert? Ambiance is definitely not traditional but the food is great and the service was outstanding.

Unilocal seems to be a miss for reviews in Palm Springs/Desert Hot Springs. This is the second restaurant I went to that didn’t live up to the 4.5 stars. Place is clean and small. Presentation of the food is very good, but unfortunately, the flavor was lacking. We got: –Ahi Poke — I thought this would be like what Hawaiian Ahi Poke is — ahi mixed with sesame oil, etc. since there was another ahi appetizer on the menu. This was plain, cut up ahi, but it was on top of a lot of stuff, including a spicy Korean-influenced cabbage mix, mangos, seaweed, avocado etc. I had wanted Hawaiian-style Ahi Poke, though this was an interesting dish. –Roll — I can’t recall which roll I got but it had scallops on top. The sauce the scallops were in were bland. –Mushrooms Stuffed with Crab — This looked different from the picture on the menu. Instead of sliced mushrooms, we got half cut mushrooms stuffed with crab and topped with some sauce on top. It was okay, though a little salty. –Sushi — My friend thought the salmon sushi was super fresh — she loved it. –Salmon Skin Roll — This came with avocado, which I’m not used to. Not a lot of salmon skin. Service was good — also ordered the NIgori(unfiltered), which came in a green bottle. I prefer the one that comes in a pink bottle(forgot the name) m, which they didn’t have.

Who would have thought that some of the freshest, most delectable sushi would be found out on the middle of the desert? My husband and I decided to try out Sushi Domo, based on Unilocal reviews. *Please* don’t judge the establishment by its exterior; it doesn’t seem like much as you walk up to it, but you will be truly sorry if you keep on walking by. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered the seaweed salad(which was delicious), and five rolls — the Tropikal, Orange Blossom, Domo, Arizona, and Amigo rolls. All of the fish tasted very fresh, and didn’t smell or taste overly fishy — a sure sign that the fish isn’t old. The Tropikal was topped with fresh kiwi and mango, and was *so* refreshing and light. The Domo was truly exceptional; the blend of textures and flavors was so great. The presentation of the Orange Blossom alone makes it worth getting — less because we care about the presentation, but it was truly a treat to get to see the thoughtful flourishes the chef added to beautify the plates; it certainly demonstrates a certain level of care. The Amigo was also delicious. We probably wouldn’t order the Arizona again; not because it wasn’t tasty, but it wasn’t as exceptional as the rest. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in the desert!

I am giving this place a 4 stars for being in desert hot springs, in LA i would probably rate it somewhere around 3 .5 I don’t do rolls, so we ordered the soft shell crab and the green mussels and chef’s recommendation sushi. I was hoping for some toro, but didn’t get it … The fish was actually quite fresh but lacked creativity. I like it when the fish is so outstanding that you don’t have to use soy sauce and there is some creative way of using Yuzu sauce etc so no soy sauce is allowed at all ! However if I lived in Desert hot springs and craved sushi, I would go back. As a tourist I probably stick to something else next time.

Surprise surprise, after several incarnations in this location, finally a really good Asian restaurant in DHS. Japanese/Korean food in a friendly family setting. Arrived after 8 on a Saturday night with no reservations after a recommendation from our hotel. There was a standing line out the door. We were told so very politely and apologetically. that there was no more sushi but, we could order off the kitchen menu. People were coming in a constant stream picking up their take-out and leaving. Apparently there was a huge catering order that came in and wiped out the sushi bar. The sushi chef appeared pretty laid back as he steadily cranked the orders out. We started with 2 soups. Colorful Teflon coated pots with glass covers arrived at our table with ladles and bowls. We had traditional Japanese Ramen and another seafood soup I can’t remember the name but it was really good. We tried the pancakes with green onion seafood and egg. It was so fresh and surprisingly tasty. Later when the big order was completed we were told there was sushi available now and somehow we managed to squeeze in a spicy tuna roll. The sushi boat looks like a super cruise liner. Looking forward to our next soak in DHS so we can go eat here. Our waiter was so sweet, polite, and genuine. Nice family.
