After reading the reviews of this store I was hesitant to step inside and instead drive over to Palm Springs to get party supplies/food/beverages. But I found the store to be clean and the shelves fully stocked. I found the check out crew to be pleasant and helpful. All in all, a nice supermarket for the community.

I’m exactly halfway between this Vons and the one down on Palm Canyon and Gene Autry. So, it’s a no-brainer as to which one I choose — this one. It’s far easier to get to traffic-wise, and the sales tax in DHS is a full percentage point lower than in PS(thanks to that dumb Measure J in PS). So, anything taxable, like all your toiletries and the like, will be cheaper here. I like Safeway/Vons store brands, and with my Safeway card, the savings are significant. Don’t — and I repeat — DON’T — shop here without a card, though.

Timing is everything when shopping here. Come to early and nothing is ready come to late and the meat looks like crap. Best time to shop is just after noon while the butcher is still there. Only go here after five o’clock if you need to be in and out quickly.

This is the worst Von’s ever! My husband worked for Von’s for seven years and can’t believe they allow such poor quality for this community. The service is so slow, we have left our cart more than once to preserve our sanity. Von’s really needs to investigate the problems here or we need to accept the fact that it’s just a dumping ground for the worst management they have to offer and move on to Stater’s down the road. Good luck.

Very possibly the worst run grocery store in the world. I constantly witness manager standing around talking while there are never enough cashiers on to handle traffic. Literally watched a manager stand and talk for 22 minutes while 2 lines had 9 separate customers in them. The bad leadership is very clear in the store. I only go here if I absolutely must. Because stater bros is filthy looking, with less than savory customer base. Store is usually at least clean but under managed and constant mistakes due cashiers having no support from leadership. Von’s corporate should secret shop this location a few times at all hours of operation and get rid of the lame duck management team.

Their service is slow, only have 2 registers open in the evening. Lines are backed up, speedy service please. Stop socializing and do your jobs!

Bought a yummy Bai 5 dragon fruit drink from the soda/Gatorade aisle on Christmas Day. Took it on our roadtrip the next day and noticed the July 15, 2013 expiration date on the bottle! WTF I would have returned it if I was in town. Gross

Ordered a cake for a work event, and it was delicious, and beautifully decorated. Had many asking where it was baked! Good job!

Friends came in to buy alcohol several times. I ended up going in once for shampoo, which was $ 2.99. Pretty decently priced and register person was laughing with us when I told her I didn’t want a bag then said I lied I do want a bag… Just in case it spilled in the car. We didn’t even have to pay for the plastic bag like back home. Average place.

Stay away from this dive … Especially after 7PM. Very Dark and dingy inside even after a beautiful remodel a few years ago. Found a jar of Del Monte peaches last week in Produce with an expiration date of April 3 … In late August !! Understaffed in the Deli most hours … Hard to get waited on. Prices are super inflated, then discounted so they can tell you at checkout that you have saved 20−30%. Have shopped here for 10 years and things seem to be getting worse. Always different Managers and Checkers. Bye Bye to them when Wal Mart opens up in two years …

This is one of the larger grocery stores in the area. They have great pharmacy as well as one of the better selections when it comes to Von’s Markets. The selections range from fresh produce to organic items, to toiletries, to paper plates, from meats, to hardware and cleaning supplies. The pharmacy has a number of sections as well that will help anything from a headache, migraine, to sore bones. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The friendliness goes beyond the holiday spirit, it was genuine. Parking is a non issue as it i a mini mall that has plenty of parking.

Vons and Stater Bros are the two large grocery stores in DHS. Vons is nicer and a lot cleaner inside. A man in his 40’s was killed in the parking lot here a couple years ago. The guy was shopping inside Vons and was killed by a local hoodlum outside the store. They eventually caught the guy, but now every-time I think of this Vons I remember that man’s death. Anyways, I’ve gotten off track. Vons is cleaner and service is better than Stater’s, but it’s also more expensive.

When I go grocery shopping, I want to be in and out in as little time as possible. I value a well-organized, well-stocked grocery store with a speedy checkout. This store fails miserably in the last department. Every time I’ve been here, whether it be in the evening after work, in the middle of a weekday, or on the weekend, I’ve spent more time waiting to check out than I spent driving to and from and shopping combined. And it’s not like they’re even that busy. For a smaller Vons, they have a nice selection. However, the liquor is kept locked in glass cases behind the check out. So, if you want to buy anything other than beer(and yes, they sell Stone Pale Ale and IPA) and wine, you need to wait for a store employee to fetch the keys(inevitably from someone that’s hidden is some remote corner of the store) and get it for you. This just prolongs an already painfully slow experience. It’s easier just to buy your adult beverages at one of the many liquor stores on the same street.

We moved to this community this spring from San Francisco and were concerned that we wouldn’t be able to find all of the yummy food we were used to back in SF. Well we were seriously dissappointed with the Valley’s lack of decent reasonably priced restaurants. What makes up for that deficiency is our local Vons. They have a healthy selection of fresh produce and a decent organic section. They have the requisite Sriracha sauce and organic Italian sodas we’d become accustomed to, as well as the live Boston lettuce we love. What earns this Vons a 5 star rating in our book is the excellent customer service we’ve experienced here. Multiple employees have gone out of their way to be friendly and helpful, whether it be to find a coupon for one of our purchases, or running to the back to get us some fresh leeks. We always feel taken care of here and that will keep us coming back.
