Me and my husband ate at the restaurant today for the first time. We spend a ton of money going out to restaurants and by far this was the biggest waste of money. The food was nasty and extremely overpriced. My $ 30 seafood platter only had paprika as the seasoning. I think they purchased their seafood from the hungry fisherman at the local supermarket. Absolutely horrible! The baked potato was even disgusting! How do you screw up a baked potato? AJS did. My husbands fries were stale. The list goes on. I really wish I would have read the reviews before going there. We are locals to the area and will never come back.

Glad to find a place open for dinner on Thanksgiving day… lovely ambiance, fantastic location, great service and a friendly waitress almost made up for the pretty average food… the strawberry daiquiri was frankly a letdown, the calamari was decent, and the fish taco pretty average as well. But, we were very hungry and finished all the food anyways.

Hands down so far the best oysters on the beach. Tried em everywhere and so far the best tasting on the beach. Beautiful sunsets and great live music. The food is always great even though a bit pricey but what the heck you are on vacation after all. First and last place I go for oysters so far.

It’s like all other«gulf seafood» places in that most of the seafood does not actually come from the gulf. The farm raised shrimp at AJ’s is no different from the farm raised shrimp at the Golden Corral down the street, except for the fact that they charge about 75% more for it. Of course, if you enjoy paying $ 30 a plate for fish the same fish you can buy at your local Sam’s Club, then go for it. In reality, you’re only paying for the atmosphere. You’ll find more flare in the food served at the curbside tent on the same harbor walk for a fraction of the price.

Great hangout with decent food. Simple fish and bar food. But the seafood is really fresh! And I’m really picky. Also AJs is a great place for hanging out and socializing. The place is always hopping and full. It’s a local hangout in off season too. We go almost every time we visit Destin. It’s great for kids but sometimes you have to realize the clientele have imbibed too much. Buts that is true for any restaurant with a popular bar in tourist town. Has a cute little store too. Because it’s so crowded and popular the cops are always hanging out which makes it safer. They have bands at night. It has outdoor tiki vibe and water views.

Stopped by for a late lunch, gumbo and shrimp PO Boy were both very good. Like every other Destin restaurant, drinks are expensive. Service seemed a little disorganized and very casual. Ok, but unusual for a nice waterfront establishment.
