Beautiful view and kind service, but the food was totally disappointing. The grouper tacos were overly seasoned and lacked any crispness, served in flour tortillas and covered with bottled ranch dressing and bagged shredded cheese.

Enjoyed our Valentines dinner tonight very much. We were on a tight time frame, headed for a 7:10 movie, and were seated immediately. Josh B. was a terrific server, steering me away from one entrée to another that featured local shrimp. Excellent! Our meals arrived quickly. We recommend the«bronzed» shrimp skewers and confetti rice. Tasty! We’ll be back next time we’re in Destin!

Always a good meal. We went early about 5 o’clock, we were seated right away and by the window. Looking out on the beach makes all the food taste better. They had a special, with an entrée you get a $.29 cup of gumbo, it was very good. I had the surf & surf, grilled shrimp and grilled mahi-mahi. Our waiter was Joshua, he did an OK job but was a little slow with a couple of things.

Five us ate at The Crab Trap for dinner last night. All 5 of the meals were outstanding, the service was quick, and the price was reasonable. Highly recommended if you are looking for a seafood meal.

Four of us went there for dinner on Jan 4th and we all were so disappointed in the food. I had the Blackened fresh catch of the day and it was so over cooked and dry. Awful. My husband had a Grouper Sandwich and they gave him maybe a 1⁄8 pound filet on the bun. We were with new friends and didn’t want to complain but we will never go back to this place again. It’s a great location and beautiful view of the Gulf and I guess that’s what you will pay for because the food is so not worth any money you pay.

Crowded(12 of us) into a very small table in an empty resturant. It was raining so the deck doors were closed and it was stuffy. Waiter appeared rushed which again was strange because the place was empty. Food was good. Crab was done well and was a generous portion. The sides were nothing to write home about and the draft drinks were served in plastic cups. Overall, decent experience. I imagine opened beach view windows make a huge difference in the dining experience. Amazing views.

My husband went here because his co-worker/friend recommended this place. We went here today & we were not impressed. The food was just okay & its so super overpriced. We paid $ 37 dollars. We got one of the cheapest one last in their menu. It was blatantly overpriced & never coming back here again. What a waste of money. Shoulda just got fish at Costco & made our own fish sandwiches. And this place should not be $$. It should be $$$ or $$$$. What a waste

This place is so overpriced for the quality of food. We ordered two Cajun Mahi mahi sandwiches. They were served on a hamburger white bread bun with no, zero, nothing else but a tomato and leaf of lettuce. The sides consisted of slaw which was tasteless. My kid had a shrimp po boy that was equally bad. Save your money and go anywhere else! The view is great though.

I’m afraid this is one of those situations where I’m not seeing what everyone else is seeing. Everyone raves about this place, it was absolutely packed and we waited almost an hour for a table. Stopped of at the bar for a piña colada that was painfully weak and watery, and this is coming from someone that gets buzzed off a full glass of wine. Once you finally get seated they get the food to you quickly, that was a great plus since we were starving at that point. Had a crab cake as an appetizer and I was surprised at this one tiny little lukewarm crab cake they brought us. Until then I had never met a crab cake I didn’t like. For my entrée I ordered the sirloin and grilled shrimp but couldn’t eat the shrimp due to a strong metallic taste. The sirloin was not great, but it was edible and I was starved. The steak and shrimp were accompanied by what they called hush puppies(that people are raving about) and some type of rice side dish. They were both sickeningly sweet. The«hush puppies» did not look or taste like anything I’ve ever known as a hush puppy. But whatever they really were, they weren’t very good. Top it off with overly expensive prices, small portions, extremely loud atmosphere and being crammed in like sardines and it makes you wish there were more nice seafood restaurants in the area. There’s a surprising dearth of decent waterfront dining in Destin.

The Crab Trap is my new favorite restaurant. I ate lunch here for the second time since I moved here. The staff is very nice and I love that I can sit by the open windows and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The she crab soup and crab cakes are my favorite. These are the best crab cakes I’ve ever eaten! The food is presented very aesthetically and is delicious.

Another great view on the beach. This place is very large, and has a lot of parking. They also have the Bushwacker. I love me a Bushwacker. I had my first a few years back in Orange Beach and it’s nice to know the Gulf Coast excels in making them. For lunch I had The Captains Platter. This was probably a bit much for lunch, but it’s similar to something they have a Red Lobster, only the one here is the honest to goodness actual real Seafood. So good. I was completely stuffed by the end. If you are looking for great seafood with a great view, Crap Trap Destin should make you happy AND full.

Overpriced, snow crab legs not so fresh, long wait for dinner, steamed seafood is mediocre. Only thing this place has going is that it’s on the sandy beach and has a large square footage. If you like frozen drinks and dining beach side, it’s ok. But i wouldn’t return here for food. Everything was mediocre.

Beautiful scenery, hot crab dip was amazing. We arrive earlier in the evening around 5:00 to avoid the long wait and was seated with in 15 minutes. Fresh seafood is not something we can get at home, so we look forward to eating out in Destin each time we visit and Crab Trap is on the picks.

This was the last restaurant we visited before departing Destin. We got a very good waitress, Lana, who was attentive & helpful. We ordered the hot crab dip, she-Crab soup, gumbo, and Crab & shrimp fettuccini. It was all very tasty, however the fettuccini was a little too buttery with not a lot of crab meat in it, but nonetheless good. The atmosphere was great — we sat on the balcony overlooking the beach & enjoyed the overall experience.

Just stopped by for a drink and to enjoy the sunset so I can’t comment on the food. Ambiance was fun for a beach bar. There was plenty of seating available at the bar even for a nice weekend evening. Parking wasn’t too bad either. Paid a lot for sort-of-cold beer in a plastic cup.

Nice location with pretty view. Food was pretty good. Service was less than perfect. Our waitress was training a new girl and between the two of them we still had to wait for silverware after our meals came out. Meals came out at different times also. Long Island Iced Tea was $ 13!!! Yes, you read that right. Thirteen! There are better places in Destin for the same price.

Our family travel slacked off out of fear. The little man is now T1D so our healthy search is needed even more now. So Crab Trap; excellent food and great atmosphere. But our server was the best out of the three. The reason why I bring up the T1D is that she picked up on the ordering water to drink but asked about diet drinks first. Asked if we wanted the dipping sauce for the calimari on the side. Then served his crab cake with the sauce on the side. The little guy is still having a hard time and by not having to point out and ask for these special things he felt more comfortable. Go for the great food and atmosphere. Know you will be well cared for!

Of the 29 years that my family has vacationed on the Gulf, I’ve driven by the Crab Trap many times, but never managed to pay them a visit. This time, I made it a point to go for lunch. Let me first say that parking here is nuts. I arrived at 1:15pm local time and there was no parking spot to be had for money. Crab Trap shares parking with public beach access. This means things fill up and they don’t empty out until much later in the day. Even then, it’s a game of patience to find a spot. And the restaurant was not busy. Once I finally walked in, the place was running at just under 50% capacity. I was seated immediately. Service was prompt. Staff did a really good job. And my drink was quick in coming to the table. That Rum Runner is a dangerous thing. My food wasn’t too far behind. I had the Fried Snapper ‘N’ Shrimp plate. It was hot and fresh. The shrimp were the best part of the meal, even if the breading needed more character. They were good, but too«normal.» And my hush-puppies were overcooked.(I felt like I was biting into a tennis ball.) Overall the meal was okay. Nothing on that plate made me stand up and cheer.(And this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.) But, for what it was, the price point was way too high. I also thought I’d see more crab options on the menu.(What with the name and all.) And there are a few featured crab-items there. But no crab cake sandwich? I can finally check this place off my list, but there are other places I’d prefer to eat when I’m in the area.
