This is the 2nd time I have ordered a Cajun fried turkey for the holidays and it was fabulous. While I haven’t eaten in the restaurant I can’t give it the full 5 stars. If you’re looking to enjoy the holidays more I would recommend the preorder turkey!

We are new to the area and this was our second visit, I had to red beans and rice which was out of this world. Homemade food at a reasonable price, our bartender(young kid, can’t remember his name) was so pleasant giving us some of the history, was just a pleasure. This is our new spot for a home cooked meal!

My family dines here everytime we visit from Atlanta. Very attentive and friendly staff without being all over you. Family oriented, New Orleans flare, home-like atmosphere. Zydeco shrimp are fabulous, spicier the next day ;). Best burger I’ve had in a really long time. Who dat?!!

The bayou meets the emerald coast! Great drinks and food… This place was so close to our GREAT rental at Beach Pointe 301 so we went there all week for some fun after dinner cocktails and nibbles of food!

Excellent service. Even better food. Within walking distance from our house. We loved this place and will visit again next year. Hubby had crawfish étouffée. Said it was perfect and reminded him of the bayou. The bread that came with it added to the meal. I had grilled chicken. Fresh never frozen and boy could you tell a difference in taste! 2 very large breasts with smashed potatoes and fresh green beans. The kids meals were a bit overpriced but my girls liked the grilled cheese and fries.

I can’t tell you what the food is like because we waited and waited and then we left. First, the hostess was hopefully new, if not she needs to have a different job. It took her a committee vote to sit people down. Also it might be helpful if they hired either a busboy or had their waiting staff clean tables. She was sitting folks one by one and cleaning tables and moving chairs and continuing to go to the back to ask about sitting people. Then we got seated — the guy that took us — because the folks outside only got drinks and pie — never said hello or I will be with you in a minute or anything. He finally asked the table behind us for their drink orders and continued to ignore us so we left. Ohh and this was when they weren’t even busy!

Stopped there for lunch, good service and great price for the amount of food you get. I enjoyed the grilled shrimp salad, there was a lot more shrimp than I expected, very tasty!

We sat outside on a late summers evening for our visit to Kenny D’s. The service was good. I’m a huge fan of Cajun food so when I say the gumbo was great you can take that to heart. My husband ordered the fish tacos. They are fried and the tortilla is also fried so be prepared for grease. The spicy mahi sandwich was ok. The fish was really good and seasoned well however the bread is soggy and falls apart after two bites. Not a fan of pop corn chicken but I tried the kids’ and it wasn’t bad at all. I would come back for the gumbo…

I went with a friend the other night to get a drink. We each ordered what we thought to be Pina coladas … each for 7.99… they failed to tell us that they could only serve beer and wine. So once we asked what kind of liqueur was in the drink, our waiter replied with the statement… oh its a wine base. WHAT?! You charged us 7.99 ea for a dinky wine based cocktail marketing it as a real one?! I felt cheated and won’t be back. Just go to the crab trap.

We arrived with a party of 13 on a spur of the moment. We waited a good 20 minutes for any host to seat us, and another 20 to get our server, and another 20 for our waters to arrive. Once we finally received our food, here in the land of fresh Gulf shrimp, my wife’s shrimp dish ended up twice-killed, i. e. WAY over cooked. Letdown!

I got the clam strips they tasted like frozen from a box that you buy at the grocery. The waiter was rude and arrogant. Not impressed at all!

When you are running a dining establishment you must keep in mind that it is just NOT about the food. The next most important thing is the service. If you are going to have half-assed service you better have some really really good food to make up for that fact. The food here is not great, however I will say that it is at least above average. And if you are only above average in the food department that means you need to be on your total A-game on the service side. Not the case here and thus the reason for my 2 stars. You have C+ food but F service??? Naaah! First you get there and wait forever for anyone to even greet you. Then you wait another 15 minutes for anyone to even come to your table and acknowledge your presence. This sums up the entire ordeal here, the waitress would come to the table and then disappear for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. And then when she would bother to come back she would totally forget whatever you had asked her to bring 20 minutes before. I should also add that I visited this place in the middle of the week and they were not that busy. The waitress was not mean or rude just very slow, clueless, stupid and unorganized. And also grossly inappropriate. Someone needs to teach her the art of business like small talk. She started to tell some patrons sitting behind me some extremely personal stories about her private life, I won’t go into details here, but just imagine if you will a real life episode of Jerry Springer. The Patrons were really embarassed and even as she was talking they were like: «ok now, TMI honey, TMI«. But she couldn’t hear them because she was just too hell bent on getting her HOney Boo Boo story out there. Finally one of the patrons told her«Honey could you please just not tell us this story and just go and get our food». She was absolutely horrible. She was so bad that I thought that I would work around her stupidity by asking her for the check and a box to go the moment she dropped off my entrée knowing that it would take her 30 minutes to do so. Well she really showed me, because guess what? when she came back 30 minutes later she STILL didn’t have the check or the box!!! So she got to run away for another 30 minutes. Where was she going? What could she have possibly been doing? She then came back with the check, but not with the box and when she did she had other customers credit cards in her hand??? What’s up with that? I then asked another waiter for a box who then also walked away for 10 minutes and did nothing. I then had to actually walk in from the outside patio and request a to-go box for the 90th time and wouldn’t you know, there was a big olé stack of them sitting right there on the the serving line. And here I was thinking that they had to fly to China to get them or something. I ordered their Oysters Rockefeller based off of some reviews I saw on line. Again they were only above average. Too greasy and the oysters almost seemed raw. However they give generous portions and the overall ensemble was not bad tasting. Definitely not the best I’ve had and NOT by any means of the imagination even the best that you can find around here. There are better places. There are some places that you go to that have that«dated/grungy» look but it’s done in such a groovy way that it comes across as hip or cool. Well this place was trying to do that but it just looked dated, dirty and old. I’m not sure how this place is in the off season, but during spring break it’s not worth it dealing with the tourists and all of the other lame traffic etc just to get over there. NO thanks. Kenny D’s is like the fat ugly old bald guy who thinks he looks like Bradley Cooper. So he shows up on the date with a really despicable attitude without realizing that if you are that unattractive you better have a lot of money or a nice personality etc to make up for that fact. My advice, step that food game up but most importantly step up the extremely lame poor service! The waiting game followed by clueless staff who think they can call you«honey child and sweetie» and giggle to make up for this just doesn’t cut it. And please DONOT regale us with your tale of trailer park woe. Customers should not have to listen to this. Kenny D’s is not the Bradley Cooper of restaurants it is more like Homer Simpson. Maybe they should put that in their next ad.

Stopped in based on positive reviews on Unilocal.Waited 15 mins for a table and another 15 mins to get a beer after we got seated. Had 3 different servers stop by and the best part was the brunette waitress in our section that was clearly high as a kite. Jittery, couldn’t talk and was stumbling all over the place. All the customers there knew it, her coworkers were laughing at her yet they let her continue to(try to) serve food to guests. Good luck keeping a liquor license…

In a mess of fried food over priced beach from restaurants Kenny D’s is an oasis of Cajun food priced well below the rest. It is not ocean front but just across the street. One of our go to spots for lunch. Shrimp and oyster dishes are really good as is the gumbo. It is a bit spicy but how I like it. And usually in the fall they have all the pro football games on tv. And if you want the typical fried seafood basket they have that as well and at a decent price!

Waitress was nice, however we ordered three items and something was wrong with every item. Ordered a side salad with honey mustard dressing –brought out ranch. Ordered the crawfish étouffée, brought our shrimp creole. Ordered a cheeseburger plain with mayo only — brought out a cheeseburger fully dressed with all the fixings. The crawfish étouffée was okay — nothing close to authentic New Orleans like it says. The cheeseburger is advertised as being the best on the beach. That’s a lie. You could tell it was a premade patty. It costs $ 45 for this, unpleasant meal. Do not recommend.

Spare of the moment quick dinner fix was needed. Long day out and about around Destin/Santa Rosa beach area looking at real estate and shopping. Not sure where to eat, so I’m trusting olé Unilocal to help our grumbling stomachs. Took a 5min drive to find Kenny D’s. Looked to be closing, but was able to get seated quick. A guy with the Nola accent took our orders and quickly brought out my glass of wine, and My Mr a sprite. We ordered the gumbo which was really good! The crab claw appetizer kinda skimpy but good. I tried the specialty spicy shrimp creole with garlic bread which was not so great(shrimp was) not the creole rue/sauce. :( I would definitely come again for the GUMBO!!! Maybe even the whole pot! ;-)

Came here for lunch after realizing it was far too crowded at the normals on scenic Gulf and I’m glad for making that choice. It wasn’t crowded, the staff was nice and the food was good. Kenny D’s does creole solidly; the Gumbo is good as everyone says. They serve the rest of the seaside menu but the creole and cajun food is about as good as you’ll get without a considerable drive.
