Hartell’s Diner

For a reasonably priced good burger, this is a great pick. The pattys are fairly small so get a double if you like a lot of meat. Fries are thin and excellent. Also tried the Patty Melt and chicken fingers. Waitress was very nice.

If you’re looking for a simple, greasy burger (albeit, at a premium cost), this is your place.
The service can be a little spotty but the diner feel is pretty cool.
I’m a sucker for tater tots so that’s what I get here.

Just drove the 12 miles or so from Destin it took to reach the restaurant. The address was incorrect on Unilocal as was the phone number so I googled it.
Options for parking are $ 6 valet or walk ¹⁄₃ of a mile on a very dark sidewalk (if at night) to reach this venue. Was excited from reading the reviews and was really looking forward to the food. They were pretty busy but there were a number of tables available outside.
Upon approaching the hostess, I said «I would like to eat. Can I get a table?» She hesitated, looked inside the restaurant and suggested that I go sit at the bar. The bar was completely full and it was obvious through the window, so I replied, «no, a table would be better.» Her response was «I don’t want to seat one person at a table in case a larger group comes.» Mind you, once again, there were at least 4 completely empty tables right behind her on the patio. Next, she just stood there with a stern look on her face as if to indicate that I should look elsewhere. So I left.
Immediately contacted the restaurant to speak to a manager and received an apology and an offer to discount my food from a Diane. As I’d never been spoken to in such a manner by a restaurant employee, I opted to leave the area to look elsewhere for better service.

Very very good diner style food. Stopped by Hartell’s before hitting the road to return home. The Krispy Krunchy Chicken Tenders meal was very good. The special sauce added an extra kick as well. The French fries were the small, thin cut fries. Also very good.
And I must recommend their mimosas! Great meal to end a great trip!

I’m here on a business trip and felt like having a chili dog. The Nathan’s hot with house chili was good. The fries are skinny fries but are good. Easier eaten with a fork than with a hand. I topped off lunch with a root beer float which was very good. Background music was also to my liking.
I would come again.

Worst service ever. A nasty blind haired waitress took our order twice and never brought us food or drinks. She was a d o u c h bag to say the least. She even spit on the ground when I told her I was leaving. Also, their meat is tainted.

chicken strips were good and juicy, but don’t get the burger.

I ate at the one in the Village/​Baytowne Wharf but I didn’t see an option to review it. The best burger and fries you will get. I had the Jimmy’s Texas Toast Mushroom Melt and it was AMAZING. I’m not a stickler for service if the food is worth waiting for. The fries are also a huge plus. They are super thin and very crispy. All the food is freshly made and it is just awesome. I keep begging my husband to take me back there, if it wasn’t for the distance I would eat here once a week.

Great drink specials on PBR and Mich Ultras. Open late on weekends for the bar crowd. Hartell special burger, big juicy burger, it was a cross between Steak n Shake and a Big Mac. Fries were good if you eat them hot. No complaints, it is a reliable burger joint.

Excellent diner style burgers. If you like real thick burger patties you may not enjoy the burgers here much. However they are so tasty you should still try ‘em anyway. Burgers are served with shoe string french fries which are good too.
I reccomend the namesake Hartell’s Special burger served with their «secret» house sauce.

Fries are really good as well as the birthday cake shake. Place was dirty on our second visit though which was disappointing. :(

i LOVE this restaurant in the village. It’s easy and offers the best burger and fries! Our family eats there regularly and love that’s open really late too! Cute diner décor, Great prices and good beer prices too!

20 min & still no water brought out, even tho she’d taken our order. We left. Need to get their act together.

We enjoy going over to Baytowne every once in a while, but hate dropping $ 40 + on lunch. Hartell’s is a perfect solution. They offer very large burgers ($ 5-​$ 7), great fries, and $ 1 PBR tall boys. Great dessert from what I understand but I’m always too full to try.
