Destrehan Plantation Store

Full disclosure-​you have to walk into this gift shop to pay for and pick up your tickets to get into the plantation and the grounds.
That being said this is the CUTEST plantation store EVER! They’ve got it all… of course plenty of Destrehan Plantation themed gifts but everything Louisiana your heart desires. Hot sauce, gumbo pots, crabby kitchen towels, Saints anything and everything, LSU stuff out the wazoo. Oh if Louisiana isn’t your thing (shame on you) they have bath bombs, soaps, jelly and even stuffed animals for the kids.
I loved this little store even more than I loved the tour of the plantation and that’s really saying something since touring old plantation homes is of my favorite things to do.
Have fun and pick me up a bath bomb while you’re there!

The staff here was so rude!!! We went in to shop while waiting for a tour. My son couldn’t help himself and picked up an teddy bear while I was shopping for china. The lady at the counter said something snarky to him (didn’t hear exact words) and when I asked what was the issue she said really rudely ‘the problem is he’s touching my stuff’. She then proceeded to talk about us to her coworker right in from of my face! I’m sorry, those are not priceless museum antiques, they are tourist-​trap souvineers and I will examine the merchandise before I buy. The whole experience put such a bad taste in my mouth, we left without buying anything (i hope the sales clerk saw me put everything back!) and I can’t even remember the plantation. Hey lady, without consumers, you would not have the $ to keep your stupid historical property maintained and open!
