Yes, this is definitely not Hobby Lobby!!! This store is more relegated to those looking to procure«fine art» supplies and out of the ordinary art materials. I found the service to be reserved but both friendly and helpful. This shoppe isn’t large but they do have a lot of merchandise for the size of the store. From table easels to standing easels, wall canvases to framed canvases and stretching materials, pens, pencils and paints of all kinds… if you’re an artist you owe it to yourself to come check this place out. I had never been here before but this is my girl’s favorite store for art supply. If you have someone artistically creative that you’re looking for an extraordinary gift for this is a solid bet for something special. FYI, prices are steep but the merchandise is quality, and, if you’re a crafter, this probably isn’t what you’re looking for.

I hate to even give them one star! I spent a lot of money on supplies for my daughter for college. One of the many items that we purchased was a portfolio for over $ 50. She used it once and the handle ripped. So, I took it in for a return a week later and unfortunately couldn’t find the receipt. They would NOT return it or even give me store credit! Now every other store I go to these days returns with no questions asked if I pay with a credit card(they can just look it up)! They said they could not even look it up they needed the receipt with the«barcode!» I thought surely they would at least give us store credit. On top of all this they were extremely rude. Not to mention when I first went in to purchase they seemed put out that we needed help with the supply list! Too bad they’ve lost a good customer. I’ve been purchasing art supplies for many years and my daughter will need them for the remainder of her college years. I will be sure to tell her fellow students to stay away from this place!

Good selection, very helpful staff, shit prices(all art stores have shit prices though). My wife and I probably spent 70% of our weekly funds here while we were at CCS.

This is my toy store. Aisle after aisle of art goodies for all kinds of projects. And if I don’t stumble across it the staff there has never had a problem helping me find it. My biggest problem here is self control. If I don’t watch out I could easily blow my whole paycheck. This review is one star away from the maximum because art supplies are so damn expensive. Maybe a Dick Blick down the street would create a more cutthroat environment with a benefit or two for the struggling art supplies consumer… Then again maybe art supplies are just effin expensive. If only there was a Bridge Card for the broke artist…

Amazing staffers, great variety of art supplies, a little pricey. I went in looking for an introduction to watercolors… i wanted something super low-stakes to play around with. Within seconds one of the employees was helping to describe the products of paints and papers, giving some advice regarding price/quality considerations. I spent a ton of time in there humming and hawing, and the employee never lost interest in my stumbling around and naïve questions. I left with a small bag of paints and paper for a reasonably cheap price. Obviously from the above, you might note I’m not an artist nor buy supplies with any regularity. With that in mind, I thought the bulk of the products here seemed expensive, BUT, i’m supposing that’s just the what this stuff costs. In any event, i was super happy with my paints, and really glad the employee was there to walk me through some watercolor basics. four thumbs up.

This is no Hobby Lobby. This is like… high class art n stuff. I get robbed blind every time I walk into this store. It’s like I come in expecting that my total ought to be $ 20 for some photomount spray glue and thick paper… and I leave spending about $ 40 too much. How? It’s like Target! The customer service is not friendly nor helpful, nor will they leave their precious counter to help you or inquire if you need help… I sat there for about 30 minutes cluelessly staring at the wall of different hanging wire wondering how come 1.) there’s no prices on anything 2.) there’s no actual organization to their products 3.) about 50% of the stuff was missing. Thanks to the faboo lady at Hobby Lobby they taught me how to properly tie wire for a back of a picture frame. I was just dumbfounded as to how heavy and what kind of wire was needed. They put the copper wire next to the braided photo hanging wire. Wtf? Yes, they are both wire! But I’m pretty sure the copper wire doesn’t serve the same purpose as woven steel wire. I don’t know. The whole store confuses me. How hard is it to put prices on things? Seriously. Lack of price tags confuses me even more. Lack of customer service to guide me just irks me. Bonus — it’s really close to where I live. And I know they have 3M spray photomount and the correct weight of paper I need. Downside is I never know how much I’m spending. And their online ads never match their in store ads. And their Utrecht card is a waste of plastic, imo. No reward or good has come out of that thing yet.

One of the only local places for art supplies. I think most people order it online now. However, this place has lot of good supplies. I use to come here weekly during my days at CCS. One bad thing is that it’s expensive but art supplies are expensive! They do need to have more sales though. Also parking there sucks. But if you need art supplies and you’re near Detroit, this is the place to go!

I spend a ridiculous amount of money per semester on art supplies. And I mean ridiculous! I’ve bought a lot of supplies here mainly sketch pads and assorted pens/pencils and the occasional rendering marker. They have student discounts which means a lot to a po art schooler. I’ve always found the staff to be quite helpful and willing to do special orders. The parking situation is much improved since the city finally finished the sidewalk work. I’ll see them soon.

I am a fan. This place has all the stuff you want and then some. Even when I didn’t know what I needed, they asked me about my project and then showed me what I needed, why and how to use it. Friendly knowledgable staff. I have not been to the new location as of yet.
