The service here is okay once you finally get someone. Went early on a Saturday, more open tables than not, and yet it took ten minutes before a server acknowledged us. Though he came with water, so some redemption there. The burger itself didn’t seem special. It was fine, not great not bad. Garlic fries were great as we’re the seasoned fries, but I think this was a one-time stop for us.

Great place right in Corktown! Good food, great beer selection, friendly service! Parking can be a challenge, there is a lot right behind the building but you have to pay $ 3.

OMG! This place has officially become my new favorite burger joint. Yeah yeah the burgers are fantastic. But the tater tots(which is why I really came here) are times a million! I’m still dreaming of the tater tots poutine and the buffalo. You can tell it’s good quality ingredients. Can’t wait to come back here!

The food was very tasty and fresh. Prompt and courteous server. This is definitely a trendy spot for burger lovers. Don’t get the Garlic fries if your are on a first date. The garlic fries are Amazing!!! They are covered in freshly chopped garlic! This place is a diamond!

In all my time to Detroit I’ve never gone in here and man was I missing out. This place is effing cool. It’s part diner, part trendy food spot, part tap house. Great beers on tap, amazing food, and a trendy feel. We stopped in while waiting to hit Sugar House and had some beers and a side order of cracked pepper fries. Whoa! Tak about a broken pepper shaker dumped on the fries! Whew! Almost killed me when I dipped them in Sriracha. Maybe too seasoned. However we hung out at the bar and the bartenders were cool. Everyone there was friendly and the people buzzing around Corktown were multiple. Didn’t really expect it but it was a welcomed sight. I can’t wait to come back here and nosh on some burgers. I will be back no doubt! Also want to check out their patio. It looked pretty dope and a great spot to hang out in some good weather with some friends and some beers.

Love love love their juicy burger(with added bacon because it’s crispy). There’s something amazing about having the cheese inside the burger that just works. And who doesn’t love tatertachos? The name alone rocks, but so does yummy cheese and toppings. They’re fries are also delicious. Good beer selection and a small but mighty cocktail selection. Love this joint!

Stopped on on a late Saturday afternoon not expecting a full house. The place was packed. The wait was about twenty minutes but it was worth every minute. The Detroit hot dogs were fantastic as was the onion rings and Cole slaw. Nice selection of craft beers. Definitely worth a few trips back. You won’t be disappointed.

Been wanting to try this place so we did after going to the DIA. Had to wait about twenty minutes but well worth it. Great Burgers, wife had the apple smoked bacon blue cheese burger and it was good. I had the topor burger with hungarian hot peppers, sauteed onions, onion straws, chedder cheese, hot sauce, burger sauce, pickles and a fried egg, and of course i pourred sriraci sauce all over it with tons of pepper… That was so goood i wanted to smack the waiter’s mama. The chocolate shake to go was okay. Cherry cokes were coke with cherry syrup, so so. Washed the burger down with a Liberty bell blonde ale, nice. We had the poutine, really good one of the better ones I’ve had in the states. Did i mention the fries are cooked in LARD, yeah baby. The best poutine is still where it originated… Canada. C’est là que c’est bon.

This is one of those restaurants I’ve passed by several times but haven’t stopped in until recently. I’m glad I gave this place a chance. The title burger bar will give away the specialty of burgers. Nothing else really on the menu besides a few salads, sandwiches, fries & tots. Tater tots are AMAZING and they have a few options such as chili cheese or poutine. Great burger & sandwich selection. I ordered the Eastern Market burger with no bun & extra avocado. The muenster cheese worked perfectly with the burger(black bean) and the patty was DELICIOUS! I had a few garlic fries and let me say, these are the most garlicky fries I’ve ever had… and that anyone will ever have in their life. What makes them amazing is these potatoes are fried in oil, covered in oregano & mixed with freshly minced garlic. Not just a teaspoon of garlic but a huge helping of garlic. Yummy! Service was a little slow. No issues with the server but it took her a while to come to our table at any point. Will be back for some more!

Mercury Bar offered a wide range of delicious burgers while also providing an artistic, totally Detroit-like atmosphere to enjoy dinner. Whether you’re looking for the finishing touch on a night in Detroit, or just getting started, can’t go wrong with Mercury Bar.

We stopped in here to get out of the snow and grab a drink. The jack and coke was weak, like tasted more like ice than Jack or Coke. But, the reason it doesn’t get one star is the fries. They came out hot, crispy, and salty. They were so good, we got three orders. If they are indicative of the food, I would try eating here. But, I won’t get a drink here again.

Mercury is perfectly situated for a great lunch or dinner if you are in cork town and need a simple meal. The ambience is everything Detroit is all about. It’s not pretentious, and it’s not trying to be something it’s not. Heck it’s not even the best food on the block– but it’s pretty good all the time and nothing is bad. Yesterday we had burgers, beers and buffalo tater tots. The burger was average but had good toppings– they have an awesome selection of burgers including veggie burgers and some other cool sandwiches. The Buffalo tots were a little soggy but had the flavor you would expect. Overall good place.

Let’s get one thing clear right off the bat, I’m a complainer. I’m not a little bitch complainer whining about everything just loud enough for someone to be unsure if they heard me or not but, I’m perpetually irritated quietly in my mind. The Merc is one of only a few places that can repress my inner sour puss. I have been here probably a half a dozen times and I have never had a bad meal or a bad experience. This is one of the few places on the world I will happily wait a hour ass to elbows with hipsters to eat. It’s hard to not get wrapped up in the nostalgia of this place. When I think of what the re-birth of Detroit should look like, this place is it. Sitting at the counter watching traffic pass on Michigan Ave. with the old train station behind me makes my mind go all black and white and I get a little old timey. The only thing that can snap me out of it is the smell of a fat, juicy, perfectly cooked burger. And despite all the incredible history and ambiance — the grub is where the Mercury Bar really shines. Their greatest hits include the Flint and French Onion burgers, their Detroit and Chicago dogs, the Fried Bologna sandwich and I love, LOVE their poutine tots almost as much as I love cold beer(BTW they have Stroh’s and Miller High Life, it’s the Champagne of Beers in case you weren’t aware). Do yourself a favor and go here, go here every time you are in the city. Just make sure you bring your patience and your hipster repellant.

I’ve heard good things about this place and always meant to stop in, and I finally managed to! We were promptly seated and able to sit outside on the beautiful patio. The waitress was quick about bringing us our drinks, and when I asked for another glass of water she brought us a pitcher instead. Since I’m a veritable camel at restaurants this was awesome. My friend ordered a milkshake to drink and said it was tasty. While we didn’t drink it looked like they had a solid but small drink menu. For the food I ordered the shroom burger with zanahorias and my friend got the blue apple with fries. The food came out relatively quickly and it was perfectly cooked. The toppings were generous as well, and the burger had a great char on the outside while still being really juicy. My friend said hers was amazing and let me snitch a few fries, which I thought were very good. I see some people have complained about the waitstaff, but we didn’t have any problems and really enjoyed our dining experience.

We returned recently, and were glad we did. We sat at the bar and chatted with our very nice and attentive bartender and ordered beers and foods, mane. :P We were there near closing on a Sunday, so the fried green tomatoes were gone(utter sadness) but the poutine was ridiculously good and the classic burger with cheese and bacon was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time anywhere. Juicy deliciousness. 2 thumbs up, we’ll be back soon, especially since they’re open a bit late on Sunday.

Took the kids here for lunch. It was a busy afternoon(Memorial Day), but we were seated within five minutes, but were there for almost two hours. Service was good, but not fast. We were in no hurry, though, so that was ok. The food was really good. I had a turkey burger and a side of poutine fries. The burger was big, juicy, and delicious. It was topped with münster cheese, avocado, chipotle mayo, and lettuce/tomato/onion/pickles. The poutine was good too, but EXTREMELY salty! Would have been so much better with less salt. My boys loved their burgers as well, both were cooked to perfection. We ordered milkshakes to go after we finished eating, and though they were pricey($ 6.50 each), they were heavenly. I loved my chocolate malt, and REAL whipped cream on top of those babies. Yum!

I had never been here before and we came here before a show at the City Theatre today. The friend whom I went with works in Detroit and had been here before for carryout, but never dine-in. The burgers are a bit expensive but yummy. I had the burger with mushrooms(normally with Swiss cheese, but I minused that and added BBQ sauce instead) and it’s pretty big … $ 9 though and that doesn’t include a side. We split an order of the garlic fries which were quite good, they had fresh garlic on top and I could smell them the whole time I was eating my burger, lol. They also have gourmet fries(different toppings) and tater tots, and even poutine tater tots … lots of interesting options. I’d like to come here again another day and try their Chicago hot dog too, that was the other thing I was eyeing on their menu. They also have milkshakes and boozy milkshakes! There is a ton of street parking around too, though my friend said that during the week the place is usually hopping for lunch. They also had a ton of Michigan beers on tap, if beers are your thing.

I really liked the laid back atmosphere of this place. It’s less bar and more burger, in my opinion, but they did have a good selection of beer. The best parts are the milkshakes. Don’t be constrained by the menu! They’ll make you a milkshake out of any of the Faygo pops. We tried grape and rock and rye and they were both delicious. At $ 5.50, you can’t beat it! The reuben was fantastic, as were the tater tots. Others have mentioned service problems, but we didn’t have any. We came here for Tiger’s opening day and watched the game. no one minded that we were there so long. Service was good throughout!

I’ve been hearing service is iffy here lately. But I’ve been coming here for a few years now and I always sit at the bar. The service at the bar is awesome, and I always get my food within a reasonable time. I always get the bacon and blue cheese burger when I’m here, as well as the sea salt fries. The burger is just so juicy(I get my burger done Medium), it’s the only place I’ll go for a real burger. I’ve had the poutine tots here, too; they’re good but not spectacular. The poutine at the Brooklyn diner down the street is much better.

Stopped in to the Mercury Bar on a rainy Wednesday in Detroit. Got a table right away, waiter was great and roght on top of things. I had their one of a kind Juicy burger. Cheddar inside and out — cooked perfectly. Loved the place and the music. Could have spent longer time here!
