The brisket here is delightful!!! It was cooked to perfection, I had the beef brisket with Mac and cheese and collard greens. Every thing was tasteful I will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu. I highly recommend visiting this establishment. The service was also great!

Can’t recommend. The bartender insulted my drink choice and didn’t wash his hands after his smoke break. If you’re ok with that, try it.

Slow service on game days which seems unlikely since the game already started and the pre game rush was over. It was like they got the money for the day and anyone else was a nuisance. Hostess was more interested in her phone then seating guests. I work in the area so fast service on my lunch hour is imperative. This is a common theme in the area and most places do the same thing with horrible service post pre game service. Bucharest did well because of fast efficient service now they are gone there is a big void for fast and friendly service in the Fox town area.

Not really impressed with with the the bbq chicken, the chicken was dry and over cooked. Brisket was good, I just expected more from the meal.

A mere stone’s throw away from one of the most wonderful places in the world… Comerica Park, of course. Saturday at lunch on a non-game day was a great time to visit. The pretzels with cheese dip are pretty damn fantastic and I loved the caddy of BBQ sauces on the table — fun to sample and impossible to choose a favorite.

My friend and I decided to go to Rub BBQ yesterday for Game 5 of Red Wings/Lightning. The bartenders were incredibly nice and gave us excellent food and drink suggestions(1st time customers). I had some the Tennessee Pulled Pork and garlic red skin mashed potatoes which was a very good choice(when they say garlic mashed potatoes they mean GARLIC, so do not order this side if you don’t LOVE garlic). I also got the jalapeño corn bread which was perfectly made; a little gooey with a touch of honey on it — tasted amazing. My friend got the chicken and waffles which was insane. Best chicken and waffles either of us had ever eaten. Honestly I’m a little baffled by some of the reviews on this place. My experience was incredibly pleasant and I will certainly be returning. If you’re looking strictly for BBQ, I would say that Slows and Rub BBQ are comparable. The sides, though… Rub wins that one.

came in because of a groupon. don’t buy the groupon. the service is extra slow. the tables were dirty when we got sat. the food… probably the worst bbq i have had in a really long time. surprisingly the food comes with just a rub, and it is the most tasteless bbq rub i have ever had. the bbq is more burnt than smoked and none of their sauces are very good. not that they brought any to the table until we were half finished and asked 4 times. i tried the combo with their brisket and chicken and ribs. nothing was very good. love, juston.

Stop number two on the pub crawl! Wonderful service/friendly bartender in the face of 32 people who walked in at the same time! I always try something new when I’m someplace new so I went with the Rowdy Rootbeer… Some sort of alcoholic root beer special for $ 2. Probably the best deal on the whole crawl tonight! If you have a big group, this was the most spacious of our stops, and also the most modern… Maybe more bar than pub: you could see the game from every angle! I can see why this is a favorite downtown.

Drove half an hour to try this place out with a few coworkers because their website said it was industry night. We’re all bartenders/servers so we’re fairly tolerant and understanding in most dining experiences. It took 5 minutes to be recognized and sat in front of the«Please wait to be seated sign» because there wasn’t a host, but it was a Wednesday around 4 and I know that’s typically shift change so we said no biggie. An am server probably didn’t wanna get stuck with a new table. Anyway, once we were seated our server had no idea about industry happy hour, so he took our drink orders with an appetizer and asked the bartender about it. He came back with our drinks and told us the bartender was also unfamiliar with what their website said. I pulled my phone out and showed it to him, and he understandably wanted to check with his manager. Manager was standing at the end of the bar, they talk briefly and our server comes back and says«my manager apologizes but we haven’t updated our website in awhile.» So that’s that? Dude continues to stand at the end of the bar, throws his new server under the bus by making him apologize and doesn’t consider coming over to our table to explain further. We drove half an hour to hear by proximity that they don’t honor their website because they haven’t updated it. Our server was a cool guy and they had a killer beer selection — we were all pretty pumped to like this place, but we didn’t get further than half of our appetizer and drinks before cashing out. We tipped our server well and told him to let his manager know we’re going to Slows.

The service is lackluster to say the least. The food is decent. I did not have anything that I would have to return back for. Groupon had a special, I bought it… the rest is history. I liked the groupon option so I can try without fear of over paying for dinner without being super disappointed. I have a three strike motto with restaurants… This was not a strike, but it definitely was not a homerun.

I ordered the Texas Beef Brisket and it was not worth $ 16! The sides were rather small. A little smaller than a fist(my hand). I received 4THIN slices of Brisket and it wasn’t even moist. In exchange I had the Burnt Ends, and it was good. It was a better proportion, juicy, and flavorful. Will I dine here again? … Maybe.

Been here numerous times and finally remembered to do a review. I’ve always been sat here in a proper amount of time. The drink selection is excellent. Was a bit put off that they had ran out of rib tips for an appetizer, however I realized what time of day it was as well as what events were going on nearby, so I understood. I decided on this pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese sauce on it. Seemed a bit weird but wow was I wrong… it was the best sandwich I have ever had. Hands down. Out of my party of 20+, 5 of us had it and we were all beyond satisfied with it.

You literally could not pay me to eat at this restaurant ever again. Service was extremely slow … We were there for over an hour total only to receive mediocre food. Not only are they slow, but the staff is also very rude. The manager was incredibly rude to us the whole time, and once we finally got our food found it appropriate to lecture us about how a restaurant works. Apparently, Applebee’s also takes over an hour to serve food. One of my friends ordered a salad and didn’t receive it until our meal was served. While in my experience, restaurants always serve a salad, even if ordered in place of a side, before the main course, we were rudely informed that this was not the case at Rub. Even after this whole ordeal, our waitress still ignored us as we waited to pay. There’s a young man who works in the kitchen who is the only staff member who was kind and knew what was going on … He needs a promotion and a raise. All in all, not a good experience. We missed the concert we had tickets for and were not offered any kind of compensation for our meals. Never tell your customers they’re wrong, ESPECIALLY when they aren’t.

I helped to plan a retirement party for some people my husband worked with and we had it at Rub. I called several weeks ahead of time and spoke with Dominic, one of the owners/managers to set up the arrangements. Given we had a large group and would spend more than the requisite $ 500 in food/beverages, we were allowed to use the loft area that over looks the restaurant. My husband called three days before the event to make sure everything was a go. Dominic assured us it was. Then last Saturday, the day of the event, my husband and I got to Rub about a hour prior to the event to check it out and get the cards ready, etc… The staff people we spoke with told us, «we heard there was a party tonight, but we have no clue as to how many to prepare for, or what time it will be.» Really??? I don’t know how much more we could have done to verify the time, and number of people. We spoke to Dominic twice, and it appears he didn’t inform anyone of the specifics. Samir, one of the owners, even showed me the text message from Dominic that stated we were going to be there that day, but never gave any information as to the time or how many people. Despite the lack of follow up/follow thru from management(I felt bad for the wait staff that were somewhat taken back by our large group), the food was good. I had a pulled pork sandwich(the Yzerman) that was delicious. A little bit more meat would have been great, but the flavor with the bbq sauce and the cheese sauce was fantastic. The meat was nice and tender and had a nice smokey flavor to it. My husband had a platter of the rib tips, which he said were delicious. They had several sauces on the tables for everyone to choose from. They had everything from sweet to spicy… The menu had options for everyone, appetizers, pork, beef, chicken, salads, fish, etc… As far as I know, the others in our party enjoyed their food. The waitresses and cooks worked really hard and provided a good party. The management, on the other hand, left a bad taste in my mouth.

An experience I will never forget; not in a good way. We came after my wife and her friends did the color run on Belle Isle — we were seated promptly and the waitress came over a couple minutes later. She asked if we were«together or separate», we said«separate» and placed our drinks. I also put in an order for chicken nachos right away, because the ladies were hungry from the 5k. She then asked us for our IDs, looked at them one by one, and placed all of them in a single pile across the table.(«Wow, that was strange“‘ I said to myself) She comes back with our drinks(in plastic solo cups) and couldn’t tell which beer was which. Fortunately I love beer and handed them out. I say«handed» because she did the same thing with the drinks as with the IDs; just sat them all down and walked away.(«Really strange, this is going down hill fast») She came back a bit later and asked for our order. She says, no joke, «are you guys together or separate?» «Separate», we said again. «You guys should have told me up front because I already rang everything up together», she said. («Wow, turned that on your customer, very interesting») We then proceeded to tell her our order 3 times, because she kept asking repeat questions, like: «how did you want your burger done?», «What meat did you want on your nachos, again?» (There were multiple issues that I won’t go into detail about; overcooked burger, onions in the soup when we asked no onions, no sides were brought out, second drinks took 20 minutes, asked for water 3 times, the«separate» bills came out completely wrong, we were told by her that the Unilocal 20% off coupon wouldn’t work that night) Our frustration level was very high. I told the ladies that I would ask to speak to a Manager and that we shouldn’t bombard him and make a scene. They agreed and I asked the busser guy to send over a manager after we already paid. 10 minutes later he came back and said, «The manager said he’s really busy and doesn’t have time to come over, so anything you would like to tell management, tell me and I’ll tell him». That is where I calmly, but directly, spoke my mind. I have given establishments some slack in the past due to bad service, because I don’t think it’s fair to judge an entire restaurant on one or two people. However, our experience was a total systemic failure. From the wait staff, to the cooks, to the management. I told the busser we would never come back, and I 100% will hold up to that. If you could give 0 stars, I’m sure this place would have an even lower rating than it already has.

Made reservations a few weeks in advance for an annual work outing. We go to a Tigers game every year, and eat a different restaurant downtown each time. I have to say that I am disappointed in my choice this year. The music is very loud and the food is not the best. I would not rush back. But, our waitress Ava was awesome! The mac and cheese was chewy, almost like it sat under a heat lamp for a while. The burnt ends were not burnt, nor were they ends, and on a bed of mashed potatoes = strange. The Yzerman didn’t have a lot of meat, it was mostly Kaiser roll. The rib tips were just ok. A few people ordered the ribs and said they were superb. I think they need to add another ‘B’ into their name. Rub B BBQ and Pub(Rub BarBBQ and Pub). It’s total bar food, not BBQ.

Say what you will about RUB, but the place was actually pretty solid for the food, atmosphere, and mainly for the TVs. They have a huge place here in Detroit, close to Comerica, where they are wheeling out BBQ and other dishes for the hungry folks of downtown Detroit. Located right along the odd«People Mover» intersection, this place gets a huge crowd whenever we passed by during gametime. I’ve come here on several occasions, and the place had been bustling. They have a huge bar where you can watch several games at once if you like. I had the BBQ platter that included their ribs, brisket, sausage, and mac and cheese. Also tried some of their sliders and nachos on other visits. The brisket and the ribs were a tad dry, but the sauces at each table really help with that. They have enough smokey flavor to make it good. The sausage was actually really good and easily my favorite part of the meal. Besides Slows BBQ, Detroit isnt very well known for having southern BBQ. The area doesnt have much to be honest, so Rub isnt a bad place for a quick bite and some beers before or after a Tigers/Lions game.

There was lots of things to like about this place: atmosphere, location near the stadium, sauce selection, quantity of food… Its a shame the rib tips were nearly inedible. Very tough meat, couldn’t even drive a fork tine into them. I ended up gnawing on a few and giving up. Would enjoy going back next time in Detroit pre or post game for a drink from the big draft beer selection. This place would be driven out of business very quickly if they were in Kansas City promoting themselves as a barbecue restaurant. 4 stars for a beer joint, 1 star for bbq.
