I can’t see how slows is happy to put their name on this. Went just today for lunch and had to send the brisket back twice because it was fatty and tough. After the third time getting an order of brisket it was dry. I took a few bites, finished the waffle fries and walked out. Slows is a detroit native, but needs to step up their game.

We finally made it to Sloe’s and it more than lived up to the hype. We ordered al la carte of pretty much all of the meats we found ourselves licking the cartons. We were there just before a Redwing game and there were no lines.

What can I say… I thought Slows was good, but Slows To Go might be even better. No lines, no trouble parking, and with no delay we were able to enjoy all the goodness that is Slows in our sweatpants in the living room. Same great BBQ, with no pretentiousness. Having spent more than a decade in Kansas City, I know good BBQ, and Slows is great BBQ.

I’m not surprised that Slows To Go had a lower rating than the restaurant. Every time I’ve eaten here something just seem off. I really can’t explain it but the food just seems a little different compared to the restaurant. Maybe it’s because if you’re getting it to go and not eating the food fresh out of the kitchen? Or maybe it’s because you aren’t able to sample the meats with all of the different sauces like you can at the restaurant? Maybe it’s because the To Go menu is a little more limited the restaurant’s? I don’t know. I’m still a Slows fan but I don’t think that the prices are worth it when ordering from To Go. I’ll be eating at the restaurant only from now on.

As soon as you walk in to Slows To Go you know you’ve made a great choice. You are immediately hit with a delicious BBQ smell that makes your mouth water. The menu at this location isn’t extensive but the variety of options won’t let you down. I opted to try The Sleeper on a Kaiser roll. This sandwich was piled high with shaved turkey, coleslaw, cheddar, black bean spread and jalapenos. I dipped it in North Carolina sauce and it was absolutely amazing. This is not an easy sandwich to pick up and eat. I recommend using the knife and fork provided to you. I added a side of waffle fries and Vernors for good measure. I was very pleased with the quality of my meal and will absolutely be going back to try some of their other sandwiches and meals.

Not sure how this place has only 3.5 stars, our food was spectacular. We did the yardbird and the reason sandwiches with a side of Mac and cheese. The only downside was having to wait out the orders in front of ours while soaking up the incredible aromas. Probably will head back to this place tomorrow

Phenomenal pulled pork and sauce selection. Homemade applesauce and cornbread stole the show from any of the other sides. We also met Leon Bridges before he performed at the Majestic, so you could say this place is pretty great.

I have heard rave reviews about Slows for so long. A coworker and I decided to give it a try. First we didn’t realize this location was to go only and had a limited menu. We both enjoyed our main dish but the sides were hugely disappointing. Will not be back to this venue.

I love you, slows. You cure me of my hangover and let me get free refills on all the pop I want. Their best dishes/sides that I’ve tried so far are obviously the yard bird, mac & cheese, applesauce, and their jambalaya. Customer service here is very good as well, the employees are nice and quick to fill orders. Truly the perfect comfort food. Also, they actually have a parking lot!!!

With all the hype Slows has as being the«best» bbq around… I was a little let down, not gonna lie. I had/shared the following: The Reason sandwich(pulled pork, coleslaw and pickles, served on your choice of kaiser or toast): decent, they sauce they give you on the side didn’t seem like enough for the amount of meat on the sandwich. I will get them that… there was TONS of meat on that sandwich! The quality of the meat was decent, it was moist, but not entirely flavorful. Mac and Cheese: shells covered with a thick coating of cheese. The cheese wasn’t melty, and it didn’t coat the noodles. It just sat in a thick layer on top. I love cheese, so I still thought the dish was decent. But definitely not my favorite. Chili Cheese Waffle Fries: the fries themselves were good. The gobs of overly salty, super gooey cheese and the chili on top were not. I think the massive amount of salt in the cheese makes up for the mostly tasteless chilli. If I were to come back again I would definitely just get the regular waffle fries. Brisket Enchiladas: these were GREAT, wouldn’t have changed a thing about them! Definitely the highlight of the night! Now, I know this is «To Go» but since they did make room for people to dine-in, it would be nice if they made it a bit more welcoming/comfortable. The stools they have as most of the seating in the room are really uncomfortable and I felt like I was half falling off the whole time. They also made the incredibly tiny trash can so inconspicuous that a few different people all walked around the whole room looking for it and then eventually had to ask where it even was. It is basically built into the wall and has the same wood siding as the walls. To top it all off, the staff all seemed like they really didn’t want to be there… which kind of made me feel like I was inconveniencing them… and really made me feel like I didn’t want to be there either. Sadly, I definitely can’t say I would give this location a try again…

Amazing BBQ, highly recommend the brisket. Apple sauce is the way to go for sure. The mac is definitely a must have side to go along with your meal. Service at slows to go is great, make sure if you’re catering for a decent sized group to do it the day before. Going in for lunch is good, their service is pretty fast. Got one of their sandwiches once, too, highly recommend those.

I had been to the sit down location several times before. We decided on this spot because it really is not any great bbq places in the D. Anyway, I like the interior, it’s takeout but you can sit down and eat. But to the point we go! I ordered a half rack of st. louis ribs w/mashed sweet potatoes +greenbeans. Hubbz ordered the baby backs w/Mac +baked beans. The meat and sauces were good but neither of us liked our sides. I’m going to feed my mashed yams to my infant son today ;the green beens were bitter and tasted like mustard. The macaroni tasted simply like cheese and pasta so he went into the fridge and got the leftover Mac I had cooked. Oh and I was disappointed that for a $ 40+ take out your don’t get a corn muffin. All in all we probably won’t be back but I wish the establishment well.

Everything is packed TOGO. Brisket and pulled pork were flavorful and tender. Not the best BBQ I’ve ever had but definitely solid. Got the combo that comes with 2 sides. Mac n cheese — meh… shells that are literally covered in a thick blanket of cheese so if you let it sit too long, it gets hard and weird lol. Not a huge fan of this. The black eyed peas were good! Definitely a good staple. :) Tried my friend’s SWEETPOTATOMASH and that was delicious! Super decadent and smooth and creamy. Very rich and stick to your bones good. Might not be able to eat the whole thing if you have a lot of other stuff but worth it! Their sauces are listed on the chalk board — their Carolina sauce is goooood! Best one for me. Apple one is a little sweet. Would go back again if in the area!

There was not a moment of hesitation, as soon as I learned that Slows-to-Go was catering our lunch, the turkey sandwich that I grudgingly prepared was forgotten. Parked in the corner of our lot, the Slows-to-Go staff quickly took our orders and prepared our food from a limited but delicious menu. I had The Reason sandwich, tender and flavorful pulled pork topped with a bit of sweet coleslaw and a few slices of pickles. It was served on a lightly-toasted poppy seed bun that quickly disintegrated — all the more reason to focus on the delicious pork that I smothered in a tangy barbecue sauce. The side of mac and cheese featured a thick cheese topping and was quite good, although not hot by the time it made it back to my desk. Under the white awning, the staff was very efficient and the lines were not long at all, which makes Slow’s a great option for a lunch.

Loved this place! So so good! I will preface this that I haven’t yet been to the original, but I had a great experience here. I got the Reason sandwich and didn’t regret it. It comes with one sauce and I chose the Apple one. Both were wonderful. The slaw and pickle on the sandwich gave the perfect flavor addition to the meat. I also split the Mac and cheese and waffle fries with a friend. Both were amazing. It’s so much food though, so come hungry! The sparkling lemonade is also really tasty. This place is also great in the Summer with the picnic tables on the side of the building.

It appears that it’s not just me, but I honestly feel like slows to go, is not as good as their counterpart. I would rate it at 2.5 stars but that’s not an option, things are just not as good here. We ordered the exact same thing here as we did at the full restaurant and it didn’t stack up. If you want to try slows, wait till a slow time of day, and go to the full restaurant.

I’m very pleased with Slows To Go. I stopped by to take home some BBQ after rotating in DMC all day. After ordering, they gave me a time estimate. Although it was a tad longer than they anticipated, they compensated me with a side for their delay. Excellent Service! For those wondering, the BBQ here is comparable to the real Slows joint. You would think taking it out and not being able to eat it until you arrive at your destination would make the food taste a little worse(less fresh), but it held up very well. I’d definitely order from here again. I made sure to grab one of their menu handouts, so next time I’ll just call in my order, stop by and pick it up! TIP: Lots of parking in the lot in the back!

I wanted to eat at the original location on Michigan Ave. but there was an hour and ½ wait so we stopped at this location on Cass Ave. My wife and I purchased the baby back rib and beef brisket combination that came with 2 sides. I have to say, the barbecue lived up to the hype and ratings. The best ribs and brisket that I’ve had. My wife and split this combo and it was enough for both of us but if you’re really hungry I’m sure one could eat the entire meal no problem. The sides: Mac and cheese and baked beans were incredible. I definitely will be back to Slows.

Perhaps the first time I had food from here, the chef was just heavy with the liquid smoke. The department ordered food again over the 2014 Holidays, and I was prepped to take precautions prior to having lunch(or hospital cafeteria food instead), but I bravely sampled everything — and it was much better. Last year I said that I wouldn’t have Slows food again. This year, I want to.
