Really cool people who work at this shop. Not a bad selection of drinks. Would definitely go back

A new owner send me a message asking me to come back and check the place out again. I have to say that they have cleaned up the place a little bit, held the stock in check and the parking lot isn’t full of trash anymore. The staff is friendly and the beer is cheap. The block seems regulated a bit better, but I am still reluctant to park my bike outside. There has been an increased police presence in the neighborhood which shows a vast improvement from DPD. I appreciate the owner reaching out to me personally. I have been through here a few more times anonymously, and next time I will introduce myself.

I have been told I have a pretty high«hood tolerance,» and I am usually inclined to agree with that statement. But Stadium Liquor takes it to a whole other level. This is what I imagine a liqour store would look like if it was somehow left standing after the apocolypse. Aside from the coolers of drinks, about 65% of the shelves in the middle of the store are empty. Those that are not empty carry paper and snack products that have likely been there since 1992 — dusty, dirty, yellowing. Thick bulletproof glass at the counter — although this is a staple in nearly all city gas stations/liquor stores/fast food/etc. Shady characters hanging around all hours of day and night. They have a great location(cass &75, right by the freeway, walking distance from the stadiums and all the Foxtown bars), and are open til 2 a.m. seven days a week. But that’s about all they have going for them.
