We went here right before the International Autoshow for dinner, and the place was pretty busy, however, we were seated quicker than expected. We sat at the bar, which was the quickest available option. The bartender was initially quick and attentive, and quickly served us drinks, which were extremely overpriced for the size of them. I ordered the fish and red skin mashed potatoes, and the potatoes were very well seasoned, but they arrived only room temperature. The fish was well seasoned, and freshly cooked, however, it could have been cook a little more well done as the battering was easily sliding off the fish, and was doughy in some spots. The peach cobbler dessert was fresh, and tasty, however, the peaches were rather bland and flavorless. The bartended, who apparently switched shifts, did not bring the ice cream for the cobbler until a few minutes later as an afterthought. Although the place had decent food and decent service, it was extremely overpriced compared to what I was expecting. I feel like it may have been a poor choice for a dinner, however, I am sure it could be a very nice location to go and watch a sports game and grab a quick beer.

Nothing worth traveling for or bringing a date to. Good place for a quick bite or bar food. We had the wings(good), catfish sandwich(fine), soup and salad(fine). The staff was a little underwhelmed but, the owner, a little old lady, was walking around and was very nice.

The first spot that was recommended to me by some college students in the area was Sweetwater Tavern in Detroit. From what I hear, the service has always been great and the wings are arguably the best in the Michigan area. I was hooked the first time I went there, primarily because they played the older Motown hits on the jukebox. It was honestly the best combination of beer and great food that you could have served. For your convenience, there is also a shuttle that’s very close to this place if you need to head out to local sporting events.

We decided to come here on New Year’s Day for lunch. The service was terrible, the food came out cold, and the waitress never returned to the table to see if we needed refills or if we were enjoying our food. I will not be making any trips back. Buffalo Wild Wings does a better job than this place.

Food is delicious which is surprising given the no frills attitude. Great for a pre-game gig and beers. Prices are reasonable and they have a good variety. Yell what you want and take a seat; this pub isn’t for the weak of heart; especially during a game.

Food is wonderful but their mixed drinks are watered down. The price is steep though. I always just buy appetizers they’re better than entrees. Wings are Heaven!

Sweetwater has definitely dropped the ball tonight! I had the peach cobbler tonight and definitely unsatisfied. It was super undercooked and also missing the ice cream! I absolutely love Sweetwater but today Not so much!

i finally tried their wings and i was not disappointed one bit! the price is a little steep but they give you about 10 wings for an order(which is $ 9.95) i believe. the wings come ala carte so if you want fries or anything else on the side it is extra. i ordered wings and fries for $ 12.70 total, which is not bad because it was worth two meals for me! the service is good, they remembered all the specifics i asked for(ranch instead of bleu cheese, side of bbq sauce) so they’re good in my book! the only thing i would have liked is a little bit more sauce on the wings, because they were a bit dry. next time i’ll ask them for more of whatever it is that they put on top!

Are you tired of fried breaded chicken wings? In the neighborhood for something different? Try these dry rub, smoked to perfection buffalo wings. This is that different twist that you’ve been looking for in the kingdom if chickenwings. It’s a sports bar, so you can get booze with your food as well. Trust me, a lot of institutions was built on wings and beer. That’s just the surface my friend. Cook the wings in smoke, sauce it up and dip it in either rance of Bleu cheese dressing and you’re definitely doing very well my friend. I really really like this place. The snoot factor is low, so anybody can definitely feel relaxed and comfortable coming here. The service is extra attentive and impeccably friendly. Our server checked up on us a couple of times, but we’re one of those easy customers, we don’t need much to keep us happy. Just the phrase that pays, «are you guys doing OK here?» Some bars are good, this particular one is great! No gimmicky craft beer snootiness. Just good food, cold beer and awesome company. Thank you very much Sweet Water Tavern for the wonderful time. I’ll see you again next time! Follow me on Instagram and snapchat: rodtorres3

Was there this past weekend to try it out for the first time. The wings were average, definitely over rated in my opinion, or it could have been that I got a bad dry batch like some of the comments stated below. The shrimp was very good. I could deal with the food, my problem was that 2 of the staff members started arguing very loudly in front of everyone. And the rest of the staff circled around them neglecting the customers. Not professional at all.

Hands down the wings are by far the best I’ve ever had… tender, juicy, flavorful, we order for lunch all the time and will continue to do so. You must try the wings!

After a late night show at St. Andrew’s Hall, Sweetwater Tavern was just what I needed. Not knowing where to go, my friend and I stumbled to the closest place to the venue. I’m so glad we did. Sweetwater was everything I wanted at that moment: greasy, meaty, delicious. This place smelled like the best backyard barbecue. Their menu is packed. There has to be at least 100 items on the menu. Narrowing down the choices was tough when everything looked and sounded so delicious. After much thought and a quick look at Unilocal,I ordered the Sweetwater Burger. The burger was delicious, juicy and satisfying. Topped with bacon and covered with the best garlic, onion cheese sauce concoction I’ve ever tasted, I was extremely satisfied. When back in Detroit, I’m definitely going to make a stop back and try their wings. Looking forward to my return to this place.

Best. Wings. In. The. World. Better than Anchor Bar or Duff’s in Buffalo. They marinate their wings in herbs & spices for 24 hours. Some say they’re a tad dry, but I don’t think so. I find them a perfect balance between crispy & tender. Decent bleu cheese, but these wings are so incredible, I don’t even need much bleu cheese. I make a special trip to the original Detroit location about every two months — can’t get enough of them, and am never disappointed.

I was advised to eat at the Sweetwater Tavern from all the people who work at the hotel I was staying at. The ambiance is great, I was seated immediately upon entrance into the restaurant and shortly after received a water from the friendliest bus boy. After that, it went downhill. The female server(never mentioned her name or had a nametag) finally stopped at my table(after walking by it about 20 times) with the most unpleasant, unprofessional, and unfriendly greeting I’ve ever heard. «What are you getting?» My ten wings showed up within ten minutes. They were accompanied with five sticks of celery and a small portion of blue cheese dressing. The winds were tasty with a little kick and a little grease but I thought that they were nothing to write home about. I also ordered a piece of Dutch caramel apple pie with ice cream. I loved that it was warmed up with the ice cream on the side. It wasn’t real caramel and the crust had more of a tort consistency than a pie consistency, but again, it was really nothing to write home about and I love apple pie. The reason I gave it a 3 star rating is because I was in the Sweetwater Tavern for about one hour and was only spoken to twice by my server. I know that food is the major reason to go out and eat, but attitude from your server is also a consideration.

Excellent Wings and seasoned fries, seriously on another level. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star review, the service! Its awful to basically non existent. I look forward to returning regardless, the food i had was all great!

I came in for the wings. We waited a bit for a rude waitress to take our order. I ordered wings with a salad(Caesar). I asked for the dressing on the side. Glad u did. It taste terrible! Like somebody put sugar in it. It wasn’t Caesar. My wings were one of the best I’ve ever had. That’s the only reason I gave 2 stars. The seasoning was sooo good! Service was horrible. I had to ask for refills on drinks the waitress only came back because my friend requested to see her. She ordered steak bits medium well and they were raw. Yuck! I never tried them. She eventually ordered wings after eating half of mine because the waitress took so long. Because it’s downtown, horrible service with no beer on tap; I don’t think I’ll be back. I’ll pass on crappy service even if the wings are super good!

I finally tried something other than wings here: the buffalo chicken salad. It was satisfying, and the chicken was moist and flavorful, but the lettuce mix came out of a bag. :/I guess I better stick to the meats here.

Best wings in Detroit. That is all that needs to be said about the wings. Go and taste for yourself. The rest of the food is still good, but pales in comparison to the wings. The seasoned fries are on point, and go well with any dish. They often have specials include an artery clogging combination of different meats, so be on the lookout especially for the ribs. The only reason this place gets 4 stars is the rest of the experience. It is often packed with people. Which is fine, but the wait staff has a hard time keeping up with getting your drink and food order. It is not a quick process. To put the icing on the cake, some of the waiters will refuse to split bills, and force you to bust out advanced arithmetic to write your total amount for each person including tip and tax on the back of a check which puts a bad ending on what should be a great dining experience.

Holy crap, you guys aren’t messing around. Sweetwater’s wings are the best I’ve ever had in my entire life! That delicious sauce, the perfectly crispy but not overly-breaded exterior, the tender chicken encased inside. It’s just heaven. I’ve been a couple times and can tell that consistency in food and service are a huge downfall. I’d definitely give this place five stars if they didn’t leave customers standing at the door for ten minutes, waiting on a host that doesn’t exist, or if they served a couples’ dinner at the same time and same temperature. At least their lukewarm wings are still delicious. Also to note: their ribs were incredible, the rib tips were just okay, and the beer-battered chicken fingers are good, just need a little salt. Their fries would be excellent if they fried them to be crispy. Order them well done. But honestly… you can avoid all those items and just dive into their perfect chicken wings. I won’t avoid visiting again… quite the opposite, in fact. I’ve been dreaming about their wings. Just don’t come here expecting stellar service and you shouldn’t be disappointed.
