Got a pristine paperback copy of Catch-22 for $ 1.50. They have a cart of books outside for 25¢ each, or $ 1 for a bag of them on certain days. Would definitely come back once in a while to peruse.

This was my first time visiting and it was amazing! Great selection and everything is so organized. I will definitely be back after I finish reading everything.

Even as Borders and Barnes and Noble have gone out of business, this little bookstore is the best hidden secret in the area. Yes, they sell used books but they have a good selection, many in mint condition. If you like to browse, flip through and read a few pages before buying, this is the place for you. They have a quiet comfortable seating area(no overpriced coffee joint or pretentious baristas) and the staff are friendly and very helpful. They are located in a little strip mall where you’ll never have any trouble finding parking. Come support your local library and community. Your checkbook will love it.

Love it. As anyone who knows me, I absolutely love my books. Every room in our home is full with books, and they are very much loved by me. As I was trying to find a bookstore that could potentially have some older edition books, I found via Unilocal-ers(thanks, guys!) this bookstore. Any purchases here goes to the Diamond Bar Public Library, which I think is so awesome! Hubby and I came over on a Saturday. All the employees were pretty cool, and everything is clean. Books are sectioned off to fiction, non-fiction/biographies, cooking, children’s, teens, travel, arts, etc. They’re also somewhat alphabetized by author! TOOAWESOME. They have monthly sales; just look at the front counter to see what the sales are. One time it was a sale on the books with orange dots. Another was cookbooks and travel at the same time. Most of the books are $ 2 or $ 1 for hardcovers, $ 1 or $ 0.50 for paperbacks. They have DVD’s, VHS’s, audiobooks. They also have some really old books, though it may not always be in the best conditions. Will be back. They also have their $ 1 bag sale once a month. You fill a bag with books from the tables outside, and it will be $ 1 for the entire bag. Not too shabby :)

A small bookstore but the books they sell have a great quality. The service is really good and the used book is great.

The little dot of oasis in a land void of books. This place is small but it’s got books of all types. It is not for profit as most proceed goes back in the public library. It’s books supply comes from donations and depicts the diversity of walnut/diamond bar. You will find Chinese Korean books in their international section. Parents will find large selection of children’s books and for those with VCR. There is a large pile of Disney movie in VHS. Come by and say hi to the smiling senior volunteers. «Any luck?» As Gordon would always ask me.

Very organized and clean here. Right now there’s a sales for books between A-M for half off(?) It’s organized by alphabetical order. Not alot of manga when I was there but they had lots of art books which I hadn’t seen in other places. I found book 6 and 7 of Harry Potter here for $ 4 and $ 2. Nice lady and they take card if over $ 10. Located near Phở Super Bowl at Golden Springs dr and Diamond Bar blvd.

The place is awesome!!! $ 2 hardcover $ 1.50 paper backs Some books are on sale for as low as $.25 CDs and VHS — not sure how much I always find at least five books here and I keep going back for more! I can spend hours on end here. The only thing is that you really need to take the time to browse their selection since it’s kind of random. I mean, they categorize them by fiction, cookbooks, self-help, children’s, etc but within each section is a little difficult. You may even find books that are still wrapped or in a bundle new, too.

Small cozy bookstore. A lot of old books in here. Maybe you’ll find a gem. Came in here just looking for old childrens book to bring back some nostalgia. Couldn’t find anything Ive read before. Very scarce selection is some areas but decent in others. Left pretty satisfied with two large hardcopies for 4 bucks. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Basically Books is a place you’d go when you just want to find something new to read or just want a small cozy place to hang out. The staff is very helpful when you’re looking for a book. You simply tell them the name and author and they’ll look for it. The books are cheap and only makes you want to buy more. They have books from 25 cents to 2 dollars. Depending on whether it’s paperback or hardcover or on sale. I’d still rather buy from here than spend way more money for the same book at Barnes & Nobles. It’s fairly small but not bad. It’s easy to find and everything is separated by categories. And they have another bookstore located inside the Diamond Bar library behind the City Hall. The bookstore is a nonprofit bookstore and you’re more than welcome to donate your books to the stores. I would recommend checking it out! It’s a bookworms dream place. I know it’s mine.

I can’t believe that this place exists! this place is a bookworms dream. Although small is packs a powerful punch with great titles and prices to match! Decided to come here during the holiday season to look for some manga for my daughters and found some titles but were in complete Japanese. But that didn’t stop from looking or my daughter. They had an awesome sale going on depending in the color of the dots but all I can say is blue dots were 50 cents each! How can you beat that! Came out with recipe books, diet books fiction books from authors such as Dan Brown, Alex Cross, James Patterson… Had to pull my daughter off the couch as she got comfortable reading a book as I was browsing. Came out of there with at least 15 books and under $ 20. I was definitively thrilled with excitement! Now to get cracking on how cooking and dieting… Based on the books I purchased. I might still have a chance so I read!

Friendly volunteer staff. Books are categorized and easy to find, not the biggest collection, but fair enough. I love how it’s a non-profit with proceeds going to the local library. Was previously given a hand me down book series of «The Green Mile» which was missing the 1st of 6 books, and I found it at Basically Books. My collection is now complete, and I could finally start reading the series. I’m not big on buying used books, but at least here you’d get to sort through the book, then buy it if it’s up to par with your expectations. Rather than buy something used online, and not knowing how it’d look like til it’s received and already paid for.

Friendly service, as when I walked in, I was met by a Welcome! I looked around and only saw one elderly man in there. I mistook him for a customer. I went around the fiction and classics area(also wanted to look at the diet area), and you could spend hours upon hours just looking around and slowly reading the collection they had. Wished I had a little bit more time to check out the 25 cent book collection. They also have an offer right now, half off all books with author’s last names M-Z. So when I came up, not realizing that that I had gotten 4 books that fit said criterion, the man laughed at me and said something along the lines of «Getting books past the M’s, I see?». Made me laugh a bit. Pretty quiet in there, like a library feeling. I would go back in a few months to see what other books they have. And remember, this helps the Diamond Bar Library!(which, I have no idea why it’s so far, but it’s about a mile and change away).

I went to Basically Books today with my brother. The shop is fairly small; the walls are lined with books from A to Z and there are two shelves in the middle for the categories: Classics, Science Fiction, Textbooks, Writing, Hobbies, Gardening, etc(I’m sorry I can’t remember all of them). By the door are cozy chairs I found the employees in when I first arrived. The two ladies were so welcoming when I opened the door :) They were wonderfully helpful and friendly as I shopped around and as I purchased my books. Although the selection certainly is not what you would find at B&N(I believe a previous review had said that too), you can find all sorts of neat books~ Basically Books is well organized, clean, and bright: D I loved going there and I will definitely be back. My parents could not believe that I purchased all the books that I did for only $ 10! P. s. They’re having an August special. Books by all authors M-Z are half priced! Regular priced books are only about $ 2.00 too! It is an amazing place to be lost for a few minutes to a few hours~

I adore this place! Books are very cheap; profits go to a good cause. Also, there are so many rare and lovely books in here! I found Chaucer and Milton(in several forms!). This place would be a good place for a reader who is looking for a book to interest them, not one who wants a specific book.

Awesome place to buy used books especially since its good to know that the proceeds go an help a good cause. The volunteers are extremely helpful and friendly. Prices are cheap, the selection is vast and it’s a great place if you’re looking to buy a cheap read.

4.5 stars. Staffed by friendly and helpful volunteers, Basically Books offers bargain basement prices for a surprisingly current(if not hefty) selection of books. I bought an «Game Change» at a new condition and the original novelization of the Star Wars trilogy for 5 bucks total. Basically Books also offers a quiet and quaint environment reminiscent of a small town bookstore(if any of you remember what having one felt like before the rise of Borders and Barnes and Noble). The money also goes to the Diamond Bar library(long needing an upgrade itself I may add) and the books, for the most part, seem to be in good to excellent edition.

GOOD: Non-profit, proceeds go to the Diamond Bar library. The perfect way to support the creative minds of tomorrow by keeping books in the hands of young children. Good selection, mostly fiction, and some books are still in great quality. I even saw a couple of Bill Watterson’s titles on the shelf. At these prices there is no reason not to buy a book, except if you just want to show off your collection of intellectual masterpieces instead of actually reading it. Let someone who would actually read it use it. BAD: None about the store.

Great used books for an extremely low price! How can you go wrong??? Excellent for book lovers who just need to browse(not a book store for research type books or a brand new best seller) Yes, this place is tiny. But packed with great deals. For $ 10, I usually leave with a huge bag of books! I even got an educational CD computer game for my daughter for $ 1 that works like it is brand new! Thank you volunteers for maintaining the low cost of this lovely, cozy used book store!
