Nice family restaurant, great service and friendly people. The food is great. The French toast is more like a pastry, and the best Burger & French fry’s in town

Nice little diner. Stopped in for breakfast. Pancakes, eggs and sausage. Hot coffee, friendly server, good food. Timely service. Just a little hole in the wall. I will be back.

A great family owned café conveniently located. Owners are friendly and service is terrific! The menu is surprisingly large and diverse for such a small place and the food is delicious. My favorites are the Tillerman omelette and country fried steak(lots of gravy!). Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area.

I’ve been here a few times now, and I think I’ll keep coming back. A small, cozy place perfect for satisfying an empty stomach with either a hearty build-your-own omelette or a generous plate of country benedict smothered with homemade gravy. Friendly and caring staff and consistent food!

Ordered two of the signature breakfast dishes, sorry, no sause. Older gentleman using a cane comes in and the woman behind the counter tells the man seating him to put him at the bar on a bar stool when he wanted to set at a table by the window. Next group was a husband and wife and the wife had an oxygen bottle in tow, again, tried to get them to set at the bar. No hot water in the bathroom, no towels. Pinching to make a profit? Ended up with just a plain ham and eggs. Disappointed and will not return.

My friend and I came for breakfast. This is a family owned café who’s plates taste and look as if they came off of mamas kitchen. The café is small but remember«good things come in small packages.» Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Our snowboarding group went here before hitting up Sierra-at-Tahoe and the place was really welcoming. One of the only places open for breakfast around the area on Dec. 25. We enjoyed the warmth of the service there. The food was great overall. Next time lets just not overtoast the hash browns too much. or maybe it was just mine.

My husband and I went in for breakfast. He ordered the chicken fried steak, I had hash browns & eggs. The eggs & hash browns were cooked perfectly. My husband really enjoyed his chicken fried steak and we both enjoyed the coffee. The service was great, too. I am a very observant restaurant patron, I notice the little details, like clean salt & pepper & condiment containers. Theirs sparkle! I love to eat in a place where cleanliness matters.

We were out for a drive and headed for Reds in El Dorado, only it is closed down for renovation so found The Firehouse instead. We Got there around 1345 and it looked like they were getting ready to shut down for the day, but they said come on in. The waitress was pleasant and the food came up pretty fast. The wife ordered the Turkey Gobbler with soup. She got her soup first and it was split pea. It tasted like it was scratch made and tasty. Her turkey was very good too lots of meat with a cranberry relish lettuce and tomatoes. I ordered the ortaga super burger. A 7 oz patty with fresh green chilies lettuce and tomatoes on a French roll. The ground beef was tasty and juicy the tomatoes tasted really ripe like they were out of their garden. I had fries with it and they were ok nothing special. We would go back again if in the area the total bill came to $ 18.04. Good food and great service. I can see where parking could be a problem but that’s just they way it is on Hwy 49.

This is a diner and should be treated as a diner when being rated. If you’re looking for more than that, you shouldn’t come here. What I expect from a diner: good service, properly cooked eggs, good potatoes, a selection of quality breakfast meats, good OJ, and some strong coffee. Everything I’ve had on the menu has met my expectation. The one thing I don’t like, but doesn’t deserve a whole star to be removed, is the bacon. It’s thin and paper like. The ham is high quality and delicious, and the sausage and the diner steak is good. It’s not steakhouse quality because it’s a diner, but it surpasses diner quality. They know how to properly poach an egg, too. The owners are very sweet and attentive and the place itself is very cute and, obviously, has a Firehouse decorative style.

We went here because we heard it was a good little place to eat. It is incredibly small inside and the tables are close together, which makes it pretty noisy. I ordered the french dip, wish I hadn’t, and my fiancé got the turkey club. Mine was so small and barely had any roast beef in it. Not worth the nine or ten bucks it was. I think their breakfast might be the way to go, how can you mess up breakfast? All in all, we probably wouldn’t return.

The café was really small and the waitress was pushy but I got their breakfast burrito and that made up for it. I would come back just to get the burrito again.

Tasty little greasy spoon diner in Diamond Springs. The sweet old little Asian couple who(I assume) own the place are a treat each time I come in. Great breakfasts prepared by the husband and great service provided by the wife make for a nice quiet breakfast experience. MIX96 in the background and cooking ham smell in the air. It’s almost like I’m back at grandmas house. Parking sucks, but worth a short walk if need be.

Unpretentious café with quick service and good food. Can’t ask for much more from a greasy spoon type place.

Took my early-midlife-crisis-mobile out for a spin this morning, Was cruising up 49 from Plymoth headed North and started feeling hungry so I stopped at the next place I saw. Great little restaurant, has daily specials as well as regular fare. I had the County Bennedict with a side of steamed rice. Yes, you can have steamed rice instead of potatoes. I’ll definitely stop by again, probably earlier to avoid the weekend SUV drivers going 5 mph under the speed limit the whole way.

I have been here before quite sometime ago once or twice. I think it has changed owners. We went again recently. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. The Steak was really thin. It wasn’t a problem although it seemed a little odd. I don’t have much to say about the place. I am just bored and thought I would review it. As far as the place I gave it only two stars because I think I was hungrier than it was good.

I used to eat here 15+ years ago, and for whatever reason I stopped. Probably because it was out of the way, and the parking lot was always full. Anyway, we drove by last weekend, and the parking lot was empty, so we stopped to have some breakfast. The place is kind of like the«Squeeze Inn» in Sacramento, in that it’s tough to find an empty seat in the joint, and it’s ultra-cramped…as is the parking lot. It definitely appears to be under different ownership, and there was one Asian woman doing all of the waitressing duties for the whole place and one Asian man working the grill. Our service was pretty slow, but she was nice. We ordered normal breakfast fare, and the meals for everybody at my table were just fine, except mine. About 7⁄8 of the way through my omelette, I found a big, long, tangly, nasty jet-black hair resting among the melty-cheese. I immediately forced myself to think about cute kittens running, jumping and frolicking in a nice green field in an effort to keep from retching right there at the table. Thankfully, it worked, and I kept my food down. I gulped some of my piping hot coffee to kill any«growies» that may have found their way into my mouth from the offending foreign matter in my food. I was so embarrassed that I told nobody at the restaurant, nor anybody at my table about the offending fleece in my breakfast. After an incident like this, I can never go back. I gave them two stars, because the lady was very pleasant, and I would imagine that this sort of thing probably doesn’t happen here with great frequency. I just happened to be the unlucky one.

This place is my favorite lunch spot! It’s has everything. I could have a Firehouse Burrito(awesome, but HUGE breakfast burrito) or Teriyaki Lunch Special or Ruben(on rye) or a good burger or sushi or fish & chips or waffles. There’s so much variety that I could eat there everyday and feel like I’m going to different places. Oh, and the owners are very nice!(I know they have other wait-staff, but I’ve never been there when someone else was doing it)
