Frozen margaritas and pina coladas are awesome! Especially if Darcy the bartender is working she’ll always take care of you and hook it up! Love her! Lol I refuse to sit at the bar if she’s not there. Ask for her

It is difficult to have an appetizer a drink and dinner for less then $ 60. The guacamole was served in a little cup with a little cup of watery salsa, nice chips for $ 14. I thought the whole table of 4 could share but barely 3. The bread was great, the service is amazing considering how huge the restaurant is. Our filet of sole stuffed on spinach was delicious, the strawberry shortcake was a joke in my book; a big dry biscuit/scone, unbuttered, no cream or juice, just a small lump of whipped cream in the center with some cut strawberries. My friend said the Ahi Tuna was good, the baked clams were whole clams with some breading on top in a juice and they were good. they would not dare put the prices of the foods on line because lots of people would not be able to come and afford it. Our friends ordered premium liquor, wine with dinner, each ordered appetizers and dessert plus a main course with us having main course and glass of prseco and the bill was $ 275 for 4. If you go, know you will pay. Ask for extra shipped cream or cream to pour over if you get the shortcake. Beautiful setting and view. If we had agreed to split the bill 4 ways(which we did not) it would have been $ 83 each with a 20% tip(well worth it for the service). If you are watching your pennies, be sure to have some understanding before you go with friends who have no budget. Otherwise, go for sure. There are two outdoor spots for dining; the bar at the south end of the restaurant with just«Bar» food, and the outdoor much quieter area with full menu.

Very slow service. Make sure you have a lot of time if you go here. I just came from Half Moon and had the worst service ever sitting outside. We arrived at 730 and did not have a drink in hand until 845. The waiter finally asked us around 9 what food we would like to order — was too late for us to order anything. Three hours sitting at a prime table outside on the waterfront. There was a lot more $$$ that could have been made off of our table of 7 had we had any service. If I were a manager/owner, I would be very upset that the check was so low.

I have been coming to the half moon restaurant for a little over 4 years and I have to say, from the servers to the cocktails to the food to the view everything is always a remarkable experience. I recommend this place to all my friends and family. Try the duck tacos! And if your not into duck mini lobster rolls are also great!

I was cold because I sat in the two seat table by the window with the air vent on the floor covered with table clothes. I caught a very bad cold behind that and had to take two days off work. I would really appreciate getting my money back but I’m sure that’s not possible. I’m sure the food was good but because of the cold it got cold fast so I pretty much just ate the bread and drunk the hot tea. I didn’t give the restaurant any bad ratings on social media, but I would loved to be able to give good ratings.

Took my parents out for a late Father’s Day lunch(Monday after), was initially apprehensive due to the recent reviews but was more than pleasantly surprised! The staff was attentive and courteous, the food fresh & delicious, ambience on the patio beautiful and serene. My father has difficulty walking and they were very accommodating in helping him get around and with table placement. He’s excited to go back again and loved every minute. Thank you for a lovely time! Definitely will go back this summer!

Mediocre food we order skirt steak special the steak was overcooked the other couple order fish no luck there either presentation of the food was terrible reason to go to this place the view, if you go for good food and good service this is the wrong place to go terrible terrible experience all around, I think the only reason why this place survives is the location If this restaurant were located any other place this restaurants would have gone out of business long time ago

Spectacular views! Mediocre food! Overpriced! Place is mismanaged! We had an 8:30 reservation but arrived at 7:00 to sit outside and enjoy the views and sunset! We were told that they will text us when a table became available; at 8:35 I went to check on our table and was then told that thdy do not take resetvations for outside but seat people as they come in with or without reservations! We were furious and ready to leave at that point! Then the manager came and by some miracle got us a table immediately! Wouldn’t return again; will find other restaurants with same views & better service!

You go for the view and the drinks on the water. Raw bar is the only food worth mentioning because everything else lacks flavoring, substance and originality. The menu is a jumbled mess, like they picked random food items from different cuisines to include.

Despite the gorgeous view, this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The service was slow and unconcerned. The food was served cold and poorly prepared. And it was expensive! I would not recommend.

As I sit here waiting, and waiting, and waiting my evening has been a bust. My friends and I came to celebrate a birthday, looking forward to the great views and service experienced on prior visits. Our waiter must have walked by our table dozens of times somehow serving everyone else while we sat. The lack of service totally ruined our meal. The only highlight was the busboy Bruno who came by to assist us in our waiters absence. Do better.

This was one of the worst lunch experiences in recent memory. My wife asked for a drink menu, and the waiter instead asked if she wanted wine by the glass, and recited a few options. He would not offer us a drink menu, and I noticed several other tables had to get up and find a drink menu for themselves. We ordered two sandwiches and it took 50 minutes for them to arrive. No explanation was given, and it was not due to a busy lunch service as the patio was only 1⁄3 full. My order arrived with fries instead of the salad I had requested, and the waiter offered to take my entire plate back. Rather than waiting another 50 minutes I decided to just start eating. My wife’s sandwich was fine(an average lobster roll), except no ketchup was offered with her fries. When we requested ketchup, it did not show up for another 5 minutes. Fed up, we asked for the check immediately and to have our leftovers boxed up. I did not realize until the next day that the waiter had decided that we did not want any of our leftover fries, as they were entirely omitted from our box.

Two stars for the view and there’s nothing else worth mentioning. Food is less than mediocre. But what really leaves me fuming is I ordered a drink with Grey Goose but was given the cheap well vodka. When I complained to waiter he insisted it was Grey Goose. I used to be a bartender and I especially know my vodkas. Filling a top shelf vodka drink with cheap stuff is such a tacky, classless trick. Unacceptable practices — especially at Half Moon’s inflated price points.

On a positive note, the restaurant is beautifully situated on the Hudson river overlooking the Palisades and in viewing distance of Manhattan. Wonderful outdoor seating, as long as it is not too windy or cold. Inside of the restaurant(former Chart House location) is lovely, great atmosphere and large windows so almost every table has a view of the river and cliffs. Lovely bar area. However, that’s where it ends my friends. I recently took two clients here for lunch and we decided to dine on the patio. Our waiter did not have a good command of the English language, and it was difficult to insure he was truly understanding our requests. I wanted to order the salmon burger special, but one minute the waiter said it was blackened, and then said it was made with breadcrumbs mixed in like a croquette… What to believe? So instead I ordered the pastrami sandwich(as I do not care for anything blackened), with side salad in lieu of fries. The waiter brought both an appetizer salad and side salad with my meal. The dressing was very overdone vinegar and olive oil. The vinegar was so intense it made me cough and almost choke, so I could only pick at it. Pastrami sandwich… Meat was lean and tender, however, it had an undesirable smokey note. Service was extremely slow, and there were only 3 active tables outside. We had to keep flagging down the waiter for water, etc… At first the weather was lovely, but when the sun went behind the clouds and the wind kicked up, we had to move inside for coffee and dessert. Service inside(from a different waiter) was even slower(if that is even possible). We shared the risotto pudding, and had coffee. I had to request cream three times, as the waiter kept bringing milk(more language disconnects). I know that the milk in coffee is a Northeast thing, but to have to ask at a restaurant of this caliber three times??? This is a nice and rather expensive restaurant, so I did not expect such a response. Also no refills were offered on our coffees. Needless to say, I do NOT recommend eating here. FYI — I also have a fatal shellfish allergy, there is a ton of shellfish on the menu, and there are no separate friers for shellfish and non shellfish items, and was uncertain if that was comprehended by our waiter. Service needs improvement, food is «meh» at best, but due to the beautiful surrounding, would return for a drink either outside or at the bar. Three star rating is solely on location and restaurant atmosphere.

I will preface my review by stating that I myself am a waitress, and always do my best to give servers the benefit of the doubt. I came here on Sunday for brunch and experienced some things that I feel need to be addressed. Price wise, many items did not reflect in quality what they did in price. $ 20 for an omelet with nothing but cheese does not seem fitting, nor does $ 17 for a yogurt parfait. But, this is Westchester and you’re paying for prestige and ambiance. In my opinion, the most pressing issues are all ones that come from inexperience and could be fixed with proper training. First of all, we had a table right next to the service station and throughout our brunch, the server was completely oblivious to many empty drinks on our table for quite a while. We were only asked once if we would like a refill,(of which my boyfriend had many, as he drinks like a fish) while said server was just standing idly by at the service station. Second, my boyfriend had also asked a few questions about the omelet, and the server was wrong about all of the info she gave us. He was told he could add bacon, ham and peppers to it, and when it came out it only had peppers. Apparently ham is in fact not an option. The corrected omelet took at least 15 – 20 minutes to come out, which makes absolutely no sense. Like I said before, these issues can all be fixed with proper training. The managers should take some time to ensure all proper information is given and understood, and servers should keep a closer eye on tables.

The view is over the top great with the restaurant right on the river. Our dinners were too good not to share and boy did we eat well. I had a simple salad with chicken and you would think hard to make that great but boy did I love the taste. I tried Jamie’s mussels(about half the bucket) and they were delicious. Everyone seemed very happy. Steve ordered prime rib and was huge. The wait staff was so knowledgable and was so good. EASY5 stars on this. I would suggest coming on a nice day at 4:30 spend ½ hour outside with drinks and start your dinner when they open at 5 for dinner

I never post reviews this long but my experience here tonight was too good not to share. So I came to Half Moon on a Monday night with my girlfriend for a quick bite and a drink. 3 hours later we left having had a fantastic time!!! We started at the bar looking for our favorite bartender Jenn but she wasn’t working. Kristian was bartending and he was charismatic, attentive, and made me one of the best micheladas I’ve ever had.(From scratch instead of using Bloody Mary mix which most places would have done.) We were having so much fun with Kristian at the bar that we decided to stay for our dinner. We started with a few appetizers, The shishito peppers, tuna tartar, and shrimp, oysters, and clams from the raw bar. Everything was delicious! We moved on to prime rib for entrees. I made a few modifications and both Kristian and the kitchen accommodated my requests no questions asked. As we waited for our entrees the manager Janine came by. We thought she was going to tell us to keep it down because we were getting kind of rowdy, but she just wanted to make sure we were happy with our experience so far. A few glasses of wine with our juicy steaks lead to dessert. We ordered off menu and again the kitchen was more than accommodating. I wasn’t going to have an after dinner drink but Kristian suggested sambuca and espresso. Oh my god it blew my mind! I really can’t say enough about what a great experience we had tonight. Monday night at the Half Moon might have to become a regular thing

Location, Location, Location. What a fuc*ing view! Jeez! I love the ocean. I love rivers. I love any body of water. I just go crazy. All this water makes a world of difference. Views are spectacular! At one point, I thought about skipping Lunch and taking a dip in the water. But let me get it together and be a bit more realistic, because taking a dip, ain’t happening. As you’re driving to Half Moon, the elevation of the nearby road, offers a stunning view of the restaurant and the Hudson. Half Moon delivers gorgeous water views and a Restaurant Week menu that circles around decent food(from what I saw). To begin, I settled for a delicate Green salad with jicama, mangoes and nuts with dressing in the side. For my entrée, I aimed for the Mixed Salad(again) with chunks of seafood that consisted of tuna, shrimp, salmon and sole. Greens were dressed nicely with sesame seeds in a soy dressing. And to finish, a nice, warm chocolate gooey cake with a scoop of raspberry sorbet, was waiting for me. The restaurant mixes sophisticated and chic, both in interior design and atmosphere with a partial rustic setting. As chilly as it was, hearing the strong waves softly crashing against the rock wall, was refreshing. While eating my lunch, I tried to pick up my jaw several times, just because, views are amazing. What I also liked about Half Moon, is that no matter where you sit, the riverfront is right smack in front of your face. I loved it every second, and there was no escaping. I will return, but, while I will agree with past reviews, food is decent, yet lacked in total elegance. Please, don’t misunderstand me, my lunch was tasty. It just did not match the cosmopolitan feel of Half Moon. And should highly have an instant connection with such magnificent views.

My daughter in law picked this restaurant for our family Hudson Valley Restaurant Week outing. First I have to say this is a beautiful restaurant with large windows overlooking the Hudson River. The restaurant is rather large and since it was a Wednesday evening I wasn’t sure why I could only get a 7:15 reservation(I wanted earlier) even though when we arrived it wasn’t crowded at all. We started by ordering a pitcher of white wine Sangria with rum. I have to say it was very good — refreshing would be the word to describe it and in fact it would be perfect on a summer day. We all ordered off the restaurant week menu. I started with the Chipotle Cesar Salad. It was a cesar salad that was a little spicy. It was different and I liked it. My daughter in law ordered the Pastrami Spring Rolls — I tried one and it was pretty good. Filled with pastrami and sauerkraut and deep fried, again, it was something different. My son ordered the bacon cheese burger dumplings. Again I tried one(how could I not?) but it didn’t taste like a burger to me. In fact, it tasted more like fried dough than anything else. For my entrée I ordered the Salmon — cooked medium(cause most restaurants overcook it and I HATE dry salmon). It came on a bed of spinach, tomatoes and corn that was cut off the cob. The salmon was cooked to my liking so I have no complaints there. My daughter in law ordered the cheese ravioli — I forgot what else it was stuffed with but she said it was good. My son had the half chicken which he liked as well. I wasn’t too thrilled with their dessert options. You had your choice of flourless chocolate cake — which I’m not a fan of, coconut something or other — I don’t like coconut other than a piña colada, and flan — which I don’t like at all. So I ordered the chocolate cake. Now normally flourless cake is extremely dry to me, but I have to say that this one wasn’t. In fact it was quite good so I’m glad I made the right choice. The service at this restaurant was pretty good — although having two waiters made things a little confusing. We gave our drink orders to one waiter and a few minutes later the other one came to take our orders. Also, I think they could have checked on us a time or two after our entrees were brought out but I can say that our plates were promptly removed for each course and our water glasses were filled regularly. Overall I think this restaurant is great for a date night as I think it’s extremely romantic, or if you want to have a meal with a terrific view.

4-star for the view. Wild cherry cocktail is excellent. Bread is warm and the quality I wouldn’t get in NYC. Took a drive up from the City on a nice day and enjoyed every minute, even if the food is just ok. Most of all, I loved the diversity: latinos, blacks, jews, pacific islanders, asians, gay, straight –all of us just kickin it.
