For great, authentic yet urban style barbecue, this place gets 5 stars. service was fast and the people are very polite. Their menu is clever, Simple and full of flavor. The variety of gourmet barbecue sauces makes this messy journey a memorable one. Try the devil’s spit. amazing. definately making this place a regular.

One word– AWESOME! I brought my husband for his birthday yesterday with our daughter and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We both ordered the St. Louis rib combo; he got his with the shrimp and I chose the pulled pork, with mac & cheese, fries and cornbread. The meat was all very good, well cooked and flavorful. My husband only wished he had chosen something besides the shrimp, as it was a kinda small portion. My daughter had the BBQ chicken with fries, and she could not stop eating her chicken! The fries were really good, cornbread was delicious, and I am in love with the mac & cheese! It is so unique, with corn and tiny pieces of jalapeño in it. Service was FAST and for dessert we had the mini brownie. It was the only thing that failed to impress. It was more of a cake than a brownie and lacked flavor. Rather pricey for BBQ, @ $ 19 per plate… But I would return on occasion.

I called In my order last night, I was told that it will be ready in ten minutes. Once I arrived they have this side«take out» entrance door that I came thru and I literally stood there for 5 minutes before I was acknowledged by any employee, meanwhile there where staff members walking pass me in and out the bar area without asking me if I’ve been helped. At this point I thought about taking my business elsewhere until Mia stepped in, she was apologetic and nice. She brought my food out right away, I had The Texas Brisket Sandwich $ 11.99 with potato wedges and a corn muffin. My sandwich was room temperature, my potato wedges were not fresh but stale, and the muffin was hard, she offered to change it but I was already pressed for time on my lunch break from work. Mia is so sweet on my way out, she even opened the door for me and apologized once again. She gets 5 *****!

Finally tried Famous Dave’s and so glad we did! Everything from the corn bread to the chocolate brownie dessert was delicious! We ordered the feast for 2 and enjoyed every bite. We decided to add the sausage which was spicy and very good too. Here were the highlights of my meal: –corn bread –coleslaw –corn on the cob –brisket My husband loved the ribs. I prefer my baked beans to be sweet, these were smoky but tasty. The dessert menu is excellent. They have everything from bread pudding to a chocolate brownie. The feast was too much for 2 and we had to take half of it home. However, we were very happy and satisfied at the end of our meal. And even happier since there is a great barbecue spot near our home! The service was excellent!!! Sierra was attentive and so sweet! The food came out quickly and the Manager stopped by our table to see if we were happy with our meal. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Certainly not the best bbq I’ve ever had, and you can tell it’s a chain. The ribs were dry and fatty(I know, a bit oxymoronic) and definitely not cooked recently, and the chicken was also over-done. However, the cornbread was awesome, as was the selection of sauces. The choice of sides(mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, greens, etc.) was adequate, and the prices weren’t bad considering the large portion sizes(the two meat combo seems like an especially good deal). All in all, not a bad place for bbq if there are no other options around, but not somewhere I’d go again soon.

Great lunch special. First time here. Loaded baked potato with pulled BBQ chicken. Mild spicy Mac & Cheese with a corn bread on the side! YUM! Service was great, our waitress was attentive and friendly. Definitely going back to try more deliciousness.

I love bar-b-q and Dave’s serves it up good. A little pricey but if you get the two-meat combo it’s a better value; it comes with two sides also. Meats include bbq ribs, bbq chicken, country chicken, spicey sausage, steak. Sides include mac and cheese(spicey but good), red potatoe mash potatoes, french fries, broccoli, sweet corn, etc. Corn bread too. The bbq chicken was cooked tender and not dry. They have five types of bbq sauce on the table in squeeze bottles. Nice and prompt service. Six HD TVs with NBA games. Good selevtion of beers, and a bar. 4.5 rating actually. Want to come back.

Walked in on a slow Sunday night with little hope as I’m not a chain BBQ restaurant fan. This is not the typical BBQ barn style décor or smoke in your face type restaurant but a clean and neat establishment. I started with two drinks as one was mistakenly ordered but I decided to keep it anyways. A Famous Dave’s Margarita and a Devil’s Smokin’ Tea. Both well mixed and not shy of alcohol. Our waitress was friendly but definitely needed more training as questions asked about the menu had a, «I’ll double check and get back with you». While we waited, a Boneless Wing starter arrived with one side mixed in a pineapple barbecue sauce. This was actually very good. Crispy and slightly dressed in the sauce with a side of blue cheese. As for the entrée, I ordered a St. Louis Rib-N-Meat which I selected Texas Beef Brisket with Cole slaw and garlic red skin mashed potatoes. The ribs and brisket were surprisingly good. It had minimum fat on the ribs but more on the brisket which is OK with me. Good fresh smoked meat and not saturated in sauce which this is huge of for me. I left this place full and satisfied. Taste and portions definitely win here. A bit more expensive that other small local places but this first visit won’t be my last and hope they keep this standard.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Famous Dave’s and if you like barbecue, then you should definitely try this place. Although the food wasn’t the greatest which is why I’m giving it 3 stars, I really enjoyed the ambience, the service, and the warm welcome. I ordered the«half baby» which are the famous ribs and I’d say I was content but not«wowed». The tables are set up with different sauces so you can accommodate the taste to your ribs which is cool. The corn on the cob wasn’t the usual you’d expect from any barbecue restaurant with the buttery taste, it was more plain and tasteless. Highlight of the night was definitely the bread pudding. It came out warm and ready to eat, satisfying my sweet tooth. Overall, food was okay and I’d probably chose Shorty’s before thinking of Famous Dave’s if I was craving for a night of ribs.

My sister and her boyfriend were regulars of the former Carino’s, which is now Famous Dave’s Barbecue. It seems rather strange that a barbecue place is housed in what used to be a modern Italian restaurant’s former quarters, and that the modern and trendy décor was left untouched, rather than given a «Southern» inspired twist to fit the face of the new establishment. Curious to check out the new addition, my sister decided we should go check it out for dinner on Saturday. We got there around 9:30 — not too early but also, not that late, considering they are open until midnight. We were surprised to see the place relatively empty, but then again, this is a commercial area, which won’t see a lot of activity on days and hours when local businesses are closed. The strange thing was, the parking lot was full. I guess they have more employees than patrons? We were greeted by Brian, who was going to be our waiter for the night. We looked at the menu, and I was surprised to see the prices were somewhat on the high side. Usually, barbecue is rather inexpensive. Looking for something inexpensive, I decided to get the chopped pork sandwich, one of the most inexpensive items on the menu, for about $ 10.50. My initial choice was the brisket sandwich, but our waiter told us the pork was fresher, so pork it was. As a side, I chose their mac and cheese, which is made spicy by the addition of pieces of jalapeño peppers. My sister’s boyfriend ordered the same thing, while my mother and sister got the two meat combos. My mother got the barbecue chicken and the pork, which was recommended to us by our waiter, and my sister got the brisket and the burnt rib ends. As a side, my sister got the Wilbur beans and their famous fries. My daughter got the kids’ menu’s chicken tenders with the famous fries, and also included were a drink and a couple of Oreo cookies for dessert. In the meantime, the waiter brought us some complimentary famous fries. Since we were all quite hungry, this was very welcomed. The problem started when my mother got her meal and noticed how fatty the pork was. She was disappointed that at least 50% of the pork portions were chunks of fat and overall, very greasy. She also received the mac and cheese, which she did not order. The waiter patiently took back the pork and the mac and cheese and instead, she got the brisket and the corn on the cob. My sister said her burnt rib tips were tough and also full of fat, but she just picked it apart as best as she could. My sister’s boyfriend thought the mac and cheese tasted odd and changed it out for some of the famous fries. The fries were quite tasty actually, especially when paired with one of the sauces. They have about 5 different sauces, and my favorite was the Devil’s Spit since it was spicier than the rest(the sauces and the fact they have a decent selection alone warranted an additional star for my review). The pork was indeed fatty, as my mom pointed out, and it was also very moist and saucy. While I don’t like my meat to be dry like eating shreds of cotton, I also don’t like it to almost be swimming in sauce, because to me, that’s more like a stew, not a barbecue, and that’s what happened here. The meat should, instead, be seared. I was very hungry though, and not in the mood to be sending back food so I just ate it. It seemed as if they added some sort of barbecue sauce to give the meat some flavor, rather than the meat acquiring a natural smoked flavor from the wood over the fire. The mac and cheese was also very saucy and not heavy on the melted cheese on top nor was it gooey, so it wasn’t impressive, nor was the portion size. My mother let me try some of her brisket and it wasn’t bad. It was tender, but it lacked the smoked ring and the texture of barbecued brisket. It almost seemed as if the meat had been roasted, rather than grilled though. Still, it was an improvement on the pork, so I’d recommend choosing that and the chicken, over the burnt rib tips and the pork, if you’re going with a two meat combo platter. While the service and sauces made me round up a star, the food was just mediocre in my opinion. It’s interesting to read from other reviewers that this restaurant is unlike other Famous Dave’s in terms of their portion sizes, menus, and quality. I wonder if I would have a better opinion of this place if I were to eat at one of their other locations. In terms of chain restaurants, I still think Shorty’s is better, though if I had to pick a barbecue joint in Miami-Dade County, without taking into account Broward County, then I’d have to say my favorite barbecue place in Miami is Bo Leg’s, on West Dixie Highway. It’s no frills, the way a barbecue place should be, and also inexpensive.

My husband and I finally decided to go check Famous Dave’s this past weekend and we were very happy to have gone. Everything was great. From the service, to the drinks and the food! I started with a Moonshine cocktail, Shiner’s Punch. Delicious. I was planning to have dessert so we skipped trying out an appetizer. However, my meal was actually the Pork tacos which is indeed considered an appetizer, but big enough for anyone wanting a small portioned meal. And of course a side of corn bread for myself because I love me some corn bread! Lol the tacos were very tasty and flavorful. I enjoyed them very much, but I would have to say I did feel them to be a little dry at the bottom of the tortilla as it was filled with more shredded lettuce. Then again they do have a ton of sauces to use from. Nonetheless, they were great. As for the corn bread… I am not exaggerating when I said to myself O-M-G after my first bite! So warm and delicious. My husband had the 5 spare ribs with. Side of Mac n cheese + fries. He loved it. No sauce needed to be added as it was very tasty as it was. Last but not least, the Bread Pudding for dessert. Wow… So soft and sweet. It sure is big enough to share, and as they describe it… It literally almost melts in your mouth. Very yummy. Overall, both my husband and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Although it is not on the cheaper side for a kind of casual restaurant… We do consider going back. Especially for their happy Hr specials!

OK so I keep giving this place a chance because I fell in love here… with their cornbread! And I refuse to allow the mishaps I’ve encountered here to break up this relationship. On my first visit, we had a waitress who was new in the waitress world. She didn’t know what an Arnold Palmer was and when it was explained she still didn’t quite understand the request was just that… Half lemonade, half tea. Needless to say she got it wrong… 3 times!!! I ended up canceling altogether and just drinking water. Her issues however also carried thru to the food order. She brought over the wrong order twice… i cut her slack, it’s not easy, but I was definitely not impressed. On visit #2 service was better… BUT my loaded baked potato came with a side; and it’s a side that never got delivered. I must’ve not been that hungry since I noticed after I left that I never got my Mac and cheese. All I got was a loaded baked potato and a cornbread #lunchfail! I now sit here on visit #3 with an Arnold Palmer, a cornbread, a loaded baked potato and a Mac and cheese… life is good… at last!

Attentive and pleasant service will always gain an extra star from me, and while still calling out opening week hiccups, I will round up in my rating. I love meat and chicken… I could only handle being vegetarian for 2 ½ days. true story I’ll share sometime. So when I saw on Unilocal that a new BBQ spot opened in Doral, close to the Palmetto, I knew I had to go there. Working the old Carinos spot, Famous Dave brings the old roadhouse /southern BBQ spot look. Yes, there was a bit of a wait to get a table for 1 since the bar was packed as was the main floor of the restaurant. There was a 2-seater available I could see, but I ended up sitting in a 4-seat hightop; no biggie. Also, my main dish came out before the appetizer. again, first couple of days oopsies. Cassandra my waitress was sweet, pleasant and attentive in answering questions about the menu and keeping my soda filled. She even tried to interest me in dessert but I was stuffed at the end. One of the managers also came to apologize and explain that the computer system kept having to be rebooted. I appreciate the pleasantries and keeping customers informed and happy. Food was their BBQ chicken with sweet-tasting corn bread, thick cut fries and corn on the cob. Lathered in their Rich & Sassy BBQ sauce, I boosted it with the thicker and sweeter Sweet and Zesty. The chicken itself was pretty juicy and enough meat on the bone. Make sure to ask for butter for your corn on the cob, since it’s served just broiled. The hawaiian flatbread appetizer is good enough for a meal on its own, with maybe a side. A large tray of toasted tortilla with grilled pineapples, green onions and chopped pork in their sweet BBQ sauce was very good for my belly. I plan to come back!

I’m not impressed. I do realize that they just opened and they’re still getting the kinks out, but I was wildly underwhelmed. The place was packed and it took 10 minutes just to have a waiter approach us. Once we finally placed our orders, the food took about another 30 minutes. I will Give them kudos for positioning ahead of time that the kitchen was backed up and it may take a while. I do appreciate with the servers are honest. Our waitress was kind and would check up on us and let us know the food would be out soon. So that’s where I can get into the root of this review… Putting the decent service aside, the food did not meet my expectations. The portion sizes were a bit smaller than I expected. A side of Mac and cheese was no joke 4 bites. It came in a small white dish that I would expect a condiment to come out in. I also got the sassy BBQ salad. It seemed like all of the fixings we’re missing and all I got was a bunch of lettuce and pulled chicken. The flavors were ok, but I think I would have gotten a better salad at a fast food restaurant. I’m willing to go back and give them another try in a couple months once they start to get the hang of it. I’m hoping by then I can get a decent meal. And I probably won’t be ordering a salad again.
