Wow! This was bad… I know what BBQ should tastes like, and this was not barbecue. I have been to many barbecue restaurants and this by far was the worst for me. Usually you will walk into a bbq restaurant and the smell hits you in the face and your mouth starts watering, but this did not happen to me. I always give a place a chance, so I ordered the Large Pork Sandwich with fries and slaw. The sandwich did not seem very large at all.(I’ve had bigger sandwiches at Arby’s!) The pork did not have a smokey flavor, but rather lacked flavor and was bland. There was a sauce that was served on the side that was like a seafood cocktail sauce(yuck!). The other sauce on the table was a sweet and smokey that had a good flavor(but average). The slaw tasted pre-packaged. The best part of the meal was the fries! I will not be back!

Beans are amazing. Ribs? Where do I start. 2nd time coming here thinking maybe my 1st experience was just that day before I judge. Can’t call your place a BBQ restaurant if you can’t have the #1 reason why people come, RIBS. Flavorless, hard, no meat. Worst ribs I’ve ever ate, hate to make such an ugly review to a place but people need to know. That’s the reason for these apps

I wish I could rate this place a zero. For starters it’s a BBQ Restaurant. Yet NOONE speaks English. I’m Hispanic. But seriously ordering BBQ American food in Spanish is a chore. Then how does a BBQ establishment. Known for their ribs RUNOUTOFRIBS?! to make it even worse they tell me 15 min after I place the order. Then let’s bring out the chicken wing appetizer raw. Yes raw. The waiters response? Like it totally has happened before. No remorseful reaction whatsoever. Just a pathetic place.

I wanted to order a barbecue sandwich and a brisket sandwich but you believe the manager does not have the meat. How do you run out of meat? Poor planning by the manager if you ask me!

Shorty’s is pretty good, nothing crazy, and there’s definitely better BBQ around, but it’s not bad. Their lunch specials are worth it. I usually get the pulled pork sandwich. The food comes out really quick, and the restaurant is always very clean. I think all things considered, it’s a good place to grab a quick bite, but don’t come to Shorty’s and expect grade A BBQ.

Whoever Shorty is, I am sure he or she would not be pleased with the crap this place is selling. Do yourself a favor and go to Flannigans down the road, or ignore me at your own risk. Just know, you’ve been warned. I ordered«12 hour smoked brisket» which somehow came out as soon as I ordered it – grey like a microwaved steak. Seriously, they even screwed up the French fries. The sauce bottles were gross like they hadn’t been cleaned in years, and leaked also. I really hate to be so harsh, but the only thing I will ever want from Shortys in Doral is my money back. 2 stars only because servers were good.

Visited twice; once around 2 pm the second at 1130 am with a group of eight. Coleslaw had a unique spicy flavor: it was ok. Ribs were ok, nothing special. Flan was delicous, the syrup was a little watery. PROS Corn on the cob delicious. It was served in a butter boat. Each kernel exploded with flavor in the mouth. Inside was well decorated with authentic antiques and mounted animals. Plenty of eye candy to occupy yourself while waiting to be served. Garlic texas toast was fresh, hot and well spiced with just enough garlic. Entrees were delivered quickly. Servers on all occasions were friendly; the bus boy even opened the door for us. The manager checked on customers regularly. CONS Chicken on both occasions was dry. Only one flavor of barbecue sauce was on the tables.

I have been coming here for a while and always order the ribs. However the past 3 times I have the ribs have been delivered to me almost instantly. They taste as if they have been sitting for a while, it’s obvious they just preheat then maybe in a microwave then serve. The flavor has been bland and they have not been as tender as when I first tried them. The coleslaw continues to be my fav but I definitely won’t be giving the ribs another chance.

I walked into shortys bbq with very high expectations, everyone always talks to highly of the Bbq here. I’m a big fan of bbq, But I’ve had better baby backs elsewhere. The cole slaw was good, so was sweet potato. The garlic bread was my favorite thing. But the baby backs and the pulled pork weren’t anything to talk about. I will probably come back because it was tasty, but forgettable I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. My server Leo was very funny and attentive to my refills. The food came out incredibly fast which was good considering how hungry I was. I’ll probably come back soon to try the baked beans and cornbread! Service: 4.5÷5 Leo was great very attentive and funny. Food: 3⁄5 I came in with high expectations of the ribs and they were only good. Atmosphere: 4⁄5 very quiet, & comfortable. Cleanness: 5⁄5 the place looked very organized and clean.

Very good food, we did not wait for our entrees not even 12 minutes… Waiter seems to be in a hurry but me made time for us… Only complaint is that this place is way updated

Stuck at work on a Saturday night we all decided to order to go. We had three simple orders 1 whole chicken and two sides, skirt steak platter, and pulled pork platter. Ordered over the phone and was able to hear the other person clearly. They said it would take about 15 – 20 minutes and it did. When I got there the order was ready at the window. The cashier was pleasant and didn’t mind taking the time to process each individual order so that I could get everyone their change back. The food was great. I had never eaten from this location. To be honest I still prefer the Dadeland location– flavor wise. The inside of this location in Doral is spectacular. It’s very clean(extremely) and the decorations and settings are nice. I would return.

I’m not really big on BBQ but when I want it, it has to be good. I’ve been to this location 3 times now and every time it is great. The ribs are fall off the bone good, the baked beans are the best around, the corn bread is moist and delicious, the fries are crisp and the service is prompt and friendly. For a lunch hour restaurant in Doral they really try to get you in and out which is great.

2.4 stars I would say. I had a birthday coupon that bought us one entrée out of the two, that was the good part. Oh, and this was my first visit by the way. But now that I used the free meal coupon already, I believe I would not go again and pay regular price for the food we had. We ordered a full rack of baby back ribs with french fries and a platter of baby back ribs and chicken with sweet potato. Both ribs, the full rack and the half rack had tender meat but they were extremely fatty and very mild flavor. These kind of ribs are cut from the tender section of the loin and they have what it takes to be a little less fatty than spare ribs and very tender. These failed on that. The taste was so bland I think I used half a bottle of bbq sauce for my half rack, and I’m not exaggerating. The chicken was ok with a gentle gentle smoky flavor, that took the other half of the bbq bottle. Per se, I finished one whole bottle of bbq sauce. The french fries were the pre-cut pre-fried ones I believe so there is not that much to say about those. The bread they game me looked drenched in butter/oil so I did not even try it; my boyfriend did and didn’t finished it which believes me to think it was nothing to remember(he never leaves food on the plate). On the good side I liked their coleslaw and the sweet potato. The server was a nice guy but thats about it. Nothing remarkable. Next time I am craving ribs I will be going somewhere else.

This place has always been a hit or miss with me for some reason. I came here once and the onion rings were so good and crunchy that I decided to come back again to order them another time. I order the rings and this time they were soggy and nasty. They chicken is the same way: sometimes juicy sometimes dry. Hit or miss. :(

Decided to try something different this time. We usually order the brisket plate which you can’t go wrong;however, we ordered the pulled pork plate. I ordered mine with a baked sweet potatoe. I wasn’t crazy about the pulled pork it was kind of sweet which I wasn’t expecting. Sometimes is best to stick to what you know. The chips n salsa was really good, like I had said on my checkin, doral location is the only one that I know that serves chips n salsa. It’s really good! Service was quick.

Looks like before 2010, the service was bad. After reading some of the reviews, I’m glad I waited to go to this place and check out the reviews! haha Having written that, I’m giving this place 5 stars. Let me start by saying the atmosphere is great. There are a lot of clever signs hung all over the interior, it reminds me of a bar in a western movie, and it even features a few animal mounts on the walls too! As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted within SECONDS and seated IMMEDIATELY. Our server was a polite and lovely lady who had our drinks and appetizers out in under 25 minutes. Might I suggest the brisket stew? We glanced over the menu and found a «family dinner» section. There were dinner for 2 and 4 meals. My mom was quick to say ‘let’s get the dinner for 4′, but after checking in with our waitress, we were assured that the dinner for 2 would suit our 3 person party juuuusssst fine. $ 25 for enough food to feed a family of 4. I’m not kidding. You can even opt out of sandwiches and have more meat piled onto your plate. The meat is tender and juicy, and the texas toast is huge and plentiful. You will leave satisfied, stuffed, and with plenty of leftovers for your family of 3 or 4(keep in mind, this is a ‘meal for two’ family deal! If you’re in the South Miami area, check this western eatery out.
