I am thoroughly impressed by a lot of the Japanese restaurants in Doral. Sushi Joe has a very«ma and pa» atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Though the restaurant is not too big, but there’s comfortable and sufficient seating. I pretty much get the same thing at every Japanese restaurant for lunch: a bento box. I got their A Lunch, which consists of chicken teriyaki, sashimi, vegetable tempura and… A BOWLOFRICE~ I’m so happy cause a some Japanese restaurants don’t include rice with their lunch specials. It’s not a complete lunch without rice :) Definitely recommend a cup of hot tea to go with your lunch. Hits the spot. All the flavors were traditional and superb! Fish was fresh, chicken was nice and juicy, and tempura was crispy but not too greasy! What really caught my eye, was the scallop dynamite made from scratch. The chef really took the effort in mixing everything in proportion. And the presentation was delicately arranged. I definitely feel«omotenashi» at Sushi Joe because everyone was relatively friendly. Didn’t request much but still pretty pleased!

Don’t let the name fool you, there’s a lot more than just Sushi on the menu here! Doral isn’t really the first place that comes to mind when seeking out authentic Japanese food, Sushi Joe is sort of a hidden gem that’s conveniently located across the street from my office! I can’t really comment on the quality of the sushi however, I always go for their Ramen and other noodle options because finding real Japanese food like this in Miami is pretty difficult. Ramen? Like the stuff you can buy for 50 cents in the store? No! Real Ramen is much better, the broth takes time to make and doesn’t come out of a silver pouch like the stuff that shares the same name. Yeah, it’s not as cheap but it’s damn good when done right.

Great place !!! Small place but great quality. Ask for Marie, she is great and knowledgeable about the menu. I will recommend this place 100% … and they ask for the Mabe and Omar roll with plantains !!! $$ awesome.

There’s no place in Doral, like this place. I’ve bee eating here for the past 10 years. There are so many new places around. But nothing like sushi Joe. Didn’t give 5 stars because, sometimes, service is very slow and they give priority to take out or delivery. Food, is the best! Highly recommended.

All time favorite Sushi restaurant. It quality recipes and talented chefs make for phenomenal food. The charming staff and quaint décor make for the perfect scene for a date or to catch up with a few friends. I’ve been coming to Sushi joes for 7+ years and my only complaint is that I don’t come more often.

This has been my sushi place I go to for about 10 years. It is owned by real Japanese and the prices and mount of food they give is great. Everything is fresh and delicious here. FAVORITESUSHIINMIAMI.

I came to this place to eat dinner on a Wednesday night after hearing great things from my classmates, and it was fairly packed(definitely not empty, but a party of 2 was able to get seated right away). I ordered a guacamole tuna, Nami chirashi, and a Captain Louis roll(their most popular roll). The guacamole tuna is exactly what it sounds like — tuna bathed in guacamole garnished with seaweed. I really enjoyed this, but if you don’t like guacamole, I suggest you steer clear because they use A LOT. The Nami chirashi was, surprisingly, my favorite dish. It was basically sushi, but served in the form of a bowl with a touch of sweetness in the rice. The sashimi slices sat on top of the bowl of rice which felt like eating at «home» to me because you basically pick and choose how much rice you want in each bite. After seeing so many great reviews on the captain louis roll, I decided that this needed to be a must-try when I finally get a chance to eat at sushi joe. And that’s exactly what I did. It’s… A complicated roll. It was topped with three different kinds of fish, and the inside of the roll had some kind of tempura(not sure what meat) in it, and like 2 different kinds of sauces. If you like an explosion of flavor, I would definitely recommend this. But, I prefer things that are… A little less complex, or «blander» some people would say, so I won’t be ordering this again. On top of that, this was like $ 17 for 10 pieces. One last thing– the miso soup. There was literally only 4 little tiny tofus in my soup. And, the taste left little to be desired. Hopefully, the salad will be better. Like I said, I came to eat at night, and the lighting was super dim inside the restaurant. It seems the only area that’s actually well-lit was around the sushi bar where the chef was. This made for terrible pictures since we didn’t sit around that area.

Let me get this straight. The ONLY reason why I give them 2 stars is because I had great food here in the past. Last time I was here, I went with my girlfriend and her sister. We were starving and super tired after leaving work. We got here at about 7 p.m. to grab a quick bite and then go home to watch a movie and relax before getting some much needed SLEEP(we truly were destroyed and it was a Monday, who doesn’t hate Mondays?). We got seated and were ready to order within 5 minutes. It took our waitress 15 minutes to pass by and ask us for our drink orders. Although we were ready to order our food, she didn’t even let us finish when she walked away to grab our drinks. She came back 5 minutes later with our sodas and immediately walked to another table with their drinks. Afterwards, we didn’t see her for 20 minutes(keep count of the amount of time we’ve been here, it gets better). We tried calling her a couple of times to no avail, the restaurant is tiny, so it’s not like she didn’t see us because we’re miles away — so, no excuse. When she FINALLY came back, we were already hangry(not hungry, HANGRY). We placed our orders and it took them about FORTYFIVEMINUTES(45!!!) to bring us our 2 rolls and tuna tataki. It is very important to note that there were 4 tables that arrived after us, ordered pretty much the same rolls than we did(we didn’t order anything out of this world or complicated, just like a JB and an Alaska roll) and they ordered, ate, paid and left before we even got our food… Our reaction was literally WTF?! The food was great, as always, and we ate in about 10 minutes, but our night took another dark turn that made our stomachs turn… My mother in law called us and asked if we could take her a roll. Now, in a different situation, we would not be terrified of this request, but going through the entire process AGAIN, was too much to handle. After waiting for another 15 minutes, we flagged down another waiter, and grabbed a menu from him. Then I had to STAND in front of our waitress when she was passing by our table and block her way so we could place the order and we asked her for the check. We waited 20 minutes for the to-go order to get to our table… No check, though… Not surprised. My sister in law had to go to the waiters’ area behind the bar to ask someone for our check. She comes back 10 minutes later with the check — small success celebration. We had to walk over again to pay, but no one but our waitress could run the payment, and, again, she was nowhere to be found. We waited for another 15 minutes to get our cards back and sign the check. [Side note: while she was in the adventure to get our checks, the owner(?), a very nice older lady passed by and asked us how everything was, and we complained that we had been there for over 2 hours and we needed to leave. I saw her yelling at our waitress afterwards.]. After 20 minutes of waiting(and thinking our waitress was at MIA Airport waiting to board a plane to Tahiti, where she will use our cards for a vacation), she finally brought them back and said that she hoped we had a good time. No apologies for the delay. No items taken off our check for the inconvenience. Nothing. Zero. Nada. We were very torn about not leaving her a tip because we understand how waiters get paid, but this person did NOT even deserve 1 cent of tip. We left this place almost at 10 p.m. So much for a quick bite. Needless to say, our entire night was ruined after coming to this hell hole. I am so disappointed. NEVERAGAINWILLWERETURNTOSUSHIJOE. Total time spent for dinner: 2HOURSAND45MINUTES.

I’ve been here so many times, I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place! I work in Doral, and it’s literally my go to Sushi place. It’s a little bit of a hike to get there for me(with the crazy Doral traffic), but it’s worth it just for the quality and the prices. I usually order the«C Lunch» which is an assortment of Sushi and Sashimi, with 8 pieces of California roll, and a side salad. All for $ 10!!! And always fresh! More than enough to fill that lunch appetite. I use to go to the other sushi places in the area, but the prices don’t compare. Never actually sat in the restaurant, so I can’t rate there customer service. Although, each time I pick up, I’m greeted with a smile and they always have my order correct(except for 1 time. Hey, nobody’s perfect!) Keep in mind, the restaurant is small, so it fills up quick during lunch time.

I don’t give 5 stars lightly. Sushi Joe sushi is the freshest fish & shell fish I have had anywhere. The staff is professional & friendly, and the owner is on site almost nightly, friendly with patrons &ensuring his patrons are satisfied. Japanese people in Miami come here for sushi. Need I say more? I’m a devoted regular & am consistently happy to pay the reasonable price for the high quality of Sushi Joe. Check it out!

I’ve been coming here with my parents for many many years mainly for the sushi! The sushi is always fresh!!! I haven’t tried any of the hot dishes. All of the speciality rolls are phenomenal! this place is a hidden gem in Doral.

I came here with my family after trying their sushi and being impressed. BUT after coming here multiple times and receiving the same poor service I’ve decided its not worth it to recieve the same treatment. I had to get up from my table to ask for a server after waiting about 10 min. Then after our server took our order(drinks & food) we again waited another 10 minutes for the server to bring our drinks even after politely told we were really thirsty. I had worked in the restaurant industry and was taught that you greet your customers and are attentive of them. You leave them happy. Hope they realize there bad management and make a change.

Upon arriving, we stood around for about 5 minutes without anyone seating us. After sitting down on our own, menus were brought for us, however we were left sitting without service for 15 minutes before someone from our party had to flag our waiter down. After placing our order with a request for water for each of us, we waited 10 more minutes before the he came back without our waters to tell us an item on the menu wasn’t available. During that encounter, we reminded him again(politely) to bring our waters. We continued to wait and watch him serve others around us. After another 10 minutes, it was clear he had forgotten about our waters again. At this point, it had been about 30 minutes after sitting where we had no service, aside from our order that was taken because we flagged the waiter down, so we decided to leave. This was not the first time I experienced bad service here — went with my girlfriend and had a similar experience 3 months ago. I will not come here again.

Slow service, but superb sushi!!! Sushi Joe is a secret, little, Japanese gem hidden in a typical Doral strip center. It’s authentic, fresh and absolutely delicious! Sushi Joe goes beyond the ordinary California & spicy tuna roll, to more creative and local flavors like coconut shrimp and tempura plantains. Definitely check out the Chef’s Specials and the Daily Specials… they are aaaaaamazing!!! We will definitely be back!

Buen lugar que se puede pasar por alto. Muy ricos los rolls y la sushi pizza. El tuna tartar me decepcionó bastante, parece una lata de atún con concentrado de limón.

Ahhhhh my heart is torn… I thought my calle ocho roll at sushi sake was my bff until i met its cousin the cuban roll at Sushi Joe! Completely taken by surprise by this place, while it lacks the glitz and glamour in décor and vibe, it more than makes up for it in the food arena. They’ve got quite the menu with tons of what you’d classify as «local flavor» and unique roll concepts. One of those being the Cuban roll– shrimp tempura, turkey ham, cream cheese and sweet delicious guava sauce smothered on top– deeeeeeeeeelish! So maybe thats not your cup of tea, luckily for you there are more than enough options to sway you in either direction. This place seems authentic, no fluff… and the patrons seem to agree as it got pretty packed within minutes of walking in. I can always appreciate a server who knows the menu and is not afraid to make honest recommendations… got that from Luis, he was fast, friendly and funny so overall a winning experience.

We ordered curry rice, gyoza, and shrimp yakisoba and all were so delicious but the portion size is too small for the price they charge. Curry is lightly spicy with beef that shreds when bitten into. The gyoza came in 4 pieces which means each piece is almost a buck a piece. Very good, the soy sauce is very salty than your usual soy sauce. We got both chicken and shrimp yakisoba and we like the shrimp better. Portion size for this dish is kinda small. It’s very sweet and not overly salted. We definitely will come back for more. Place is kinda small and dark.

This is one of the few Japanese places in Miami that is owned and operated by Japanese. Not to be racist, but I suppose it makes me feel the food is more authentic. Walking in it’s like being transported to somewhere in Tokyo. Especially with all the shikishi hanging on the wall and the whole shelf of old manga magazines by the restroom. My favorite here is the champon noodle, a rare find in Miami. It’s a delicious bowl of noodle with some meat, seafood and veggie. We also like the chirashi sushi rice bowl and the katsudon pork chop rice bowl. Overall very nice quality.
