I had the shimeji mushrooms, i cant find this anywhere else in South Florida, they make it like its made in every sushi restaurant in Brazil. Awesome. The Tuna tetaki is prob the second best thing here, i had a good experience.

I went last Friday night with some friends. We sat at the tempayake tables. Our group ordered from both the sushi and tempayake menus. The food was good and the quatity was amazing. I ordered the tuna tar tar which was delicious and plentiful. We were there close to closing time and we were seated at a table where i could see the kitchen. They were cleaning the kitchen floor and I have to tell you that I was incredibly impressed by the cleanliness of the kitchen and the care that they took cleaning the floor. That was the clincher for me. I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends.

5 years ago I could get a Japanese Bagel roll for $ 4.95. Now it’s $ 7.95. Has the recipe changed? Are they wrapping the rolls in gold now? Nope… but there are a lot of other things that have changed too. Like the service. I remember the days when they cared about their customers and they opened on time. Yep, that’s changed too. In the past 4 or 5 years my experience at Sakura has been worse and worse, from getting there 10 minutes after they open and being told to come back in 15, to spending 3 hours there because the service was slow(and not very good either). I really do wish I could go back to the good ol’ days but it just hasn’t been the same for me. And now with all the new sushi places just begging for your patronage, why would you go somewhere where they are too good for it?

They are just on a roll. The management couldn’t be more arrogant if they tried. I called on a Friday to see what their Saturday hours are because I had an out of town guest driving by Doral to say hi, and wanted to eat there. I was told 10AM to 10PM. I asked the girl«So you are open from ten o’clock in the morning, tomorrow Saturday until ten o’clock at night?» «Yes we are» was her response. We arrive the next day at ten minutes to twelve noon. The person inside, tells us they are not open yet. I told him of my conversation the day before. He tells me that they open at twelve but he won’t be ready to open so to come back in twenty minutes. WHAT??? We went elsewhere.

I went back a few more times for dinner. I don’t know whats going, maybe it is the new name or the new hibachi tables but the food is not as fresh as it was and the miso has gotten saltier but has less flavor. You know, like eating the sea salt off a spoon. This time I had the terriaki salmon, wings, Cali roll, and shrimp tempura. The salmon tasted like it might have been frozen before they made it and the sauce was salty. the wings I could not stomach, dry, small, just bad. The Cali roll was the one good thing in the box. The shrimp was ok, a bit dry for my taste. Oh they also had and, please forgive me for not knowing the exact name, the«clear» noodles. They were pretty good but you needed soy sauce to make then better. I will give it another go… hope it gets better

3.5 stars, no soondobu :( I went to try their Korean menu on the back page… hmmm crossed out They focus on Japanese cuisine(Korean-run) based on the menu options – lotsa rolls. They have remodeled recently and are expanding next door into Soo-Woo, the new name for the Japanese steakhouse.(Recent Hearld article says it will be teppanyaki and finish in May.) I thought the prices were a little high for their kalbi($ 25) I tried the dolsot bibimbap and pork pajun – enjoyed both nicely flavored beef, crisped rice, onion pancake large, on the thicker side, pork was a little chewier banchan(5 small), spice very mild, only liked the fried fishcake.
