Now that I am closer & in walking distance of Dot2Dot, I should really be there more often. I love going for brunch, they have really tasty vegan pancakes w/fruit, even better you can get grits which is not a popular thing here in Boston. It’s nice that they even have veggie sausage as well as other options for people. Even if you come & have to wait, they have a bookstore that you can browse too.

The best vegan pancakes and sausages you will every have!!! The people who work there are great, the owner is personable and takes the time to talk to her guests and the food is spectacular!

This is a limited review since I have only had their coffee at their new temporary location in city hall! But they were super nice, explained all their snacks and coffee, and it was cheap. The coffee was good and you can’t beat friendly staff. The food looks good too, I’ll be trying some soon! Glad they are in city hall for awhile!

The food is excellent and I’d definitely come back. The service is attentive, but don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. Fresh fruit, great eggs.

My boyfriend and I went to breakfast here on a whim this morning to wrap up our weekend trip to Boston. The café had wonderful ambiance — an open concept and a warm, cozy feel. I felt like it must be family owned and operated because the staff worked wonderfully together and the tips are cumulated and, I assume, distributed amongst the staff evenly(we noticed one of our waitresses putting the tip we left on the table in the big tip jar on the register counter). Anyway, the food was great. Homemade and fresh — everything you could want from an affordable dining establishment. I got«Fin’s Choice» — 2 boiled eggs any way you like(I had them soft boiled), with toast… warm, homemade whole wheat toast… it was awesome! My boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash and raved about how it was the best he’d ever had and has set a new standard for diners everywhere(you could actually tell they cooked and prepared fresh, moist corned beef before adding it to the hash browns). Also, we both agreed the coffee was great, seeing that we had two cups each. All-in-all, with my New York standards, this place earned itself an A for effort, quality, atmosphere, and more. Definitely check it out!

Came here for iced coffee, brioche french toast, and corned beef hash — I was hungry, and the portions were perfect! Everything was fantastic, came out in roughly 15 – 20 minutes, and didn’t break the bank. The coffee is strong and really flavorful, the corned beef was home-made and filling, and the french toast was some of the best I’ve had! The waitress said that all their pastries(except for bagels, etc.) are made in house, including ALL their bread! Service was attentive and prompt, and the chef asked personally how my meal was. For a place that takes such pride in their product, it’s nice to see that pricing is reasonable and portion sizes are realistic. For those with complaints about the prices — yes, you may be paying $ 2 or so more than other restaurants for a ‘basic’ plate, but how many of those places are serving you homemade toast, and potatoes that haven’t been sitting under a heat lamp?! Well worth the investment, I say! I will certainly be back! Thanks, Dot2Dot!

The atmosphere is quite nice– the décor, the live jazz on a Sunday morning… the one thing that ruined my first visit here was the service. My boyfriend and I were seated then immediately forgotten. Two other groups of two came in after us and got service before us, which is extremely rude. We weren’t offered any water and were seated for a good 10 – 15 minutes with zero acknowledgement. It wasn’t even busy. Totally disappointed. A more attentive staff would give it more stars. Without service, how can one rate the food ?? Bogus. We got up and left.

A friend and I played the Unilocal Russian roulette hoping to get lucky on a scrumptious brunch place on a weekday. We hit the jackpot on food! Hidden deep within Dorchester, this little beacon of tastebud happiness emerged into our view as we pulled into one of the many street parking spots on Dot Ave. The food was simply homey. We ordered 2 Happy Salads(basically a free for all for the chef) and the Poached eggs with potato rosti, spinach and hollandaise sauce($ 8.00). The Chef/Owner personally came out to double-check the order and for allergies. We wasted no time digging into our salads and the Poached eggs. The salad was perfectly dressed(not drenched!), the greens still had crunch, and the thoughtful pairings of cranberries, walnuts, and goat cheese were so delightful. The Poached eggs did not disappoint either — using words to describe does this dish unjustice. Just go try it. The clincher for us was the Bread Pudding! It was good cold, but once the Chef/Owner noticed that we were consuming it cold. She immediately, literally, tore it away from our charging forks to heat it up. She also added to our already large slice and dusted it with powdered sugar… and yeah… it did send the bread pudding to another level of delciousness(see before and after pictures). As others have previously noted before service here is spotty. It is a combination of novices paired with a super attentive, but busy Chef/Owner manager. The servers were not rude, just slow and could benefit from a little structure. But overall Dot2Dot Café is a place where you would go to on a lazy Sunday!

Dinner + theater and dessert. A prix fixe meal that was this good! I had salmon cooked to perfection with a Thai salad and hubby had Chicken Parmesan with the most delicious squash I have ever tasted. And I don’t even like squash. The desserts were delightful my bread pudding came with fresh blueberries. All this and then an original theater piece by Avenue Theater Co. which was hilarious. A perfect night.

Great place for breakfast with the lil ones, they have fun plastic utensils plates and cups and toys and books for them to use, as well as some for sale. A lot of healthy options for breakfast if you don’t like heavy breakfast food, I got a roasted vegetable omelette and Leo got a chocolate chip pancake. Thumbs up for me! Only downside is that they’re only open 8am to 2pm. I wouldn’t mind coming back for lunch if it was a little later but def a cute place to go to if you want an early lunch!

I’ve been here a few times and the food is always great but the service needs some help. Maybe just hire another person? Love their iced coffee and the location is pretty sweet. If the service gets better I can see coming here more often.

Has potential for awesomeness. Wait staff needs supervision; way too slow; why teenagers as servers? Kitchen needs better ventilation; way too smokey, I left smelling smoke and grease; nauseating. Layout needs to be modified. However, Food was good, but a bit grease and temperature on items were very off. Pancakes was awesome. Corn beef hash yummy loved the actual corn beef. Latte was very good. This place can be awesome if it’s managed properly.

The atmosphere is great, but the rest is not. I haven’t been here recently, but I must write a review for my past experience. I waited quite a while for my waitress to come serve me. She was often on her cell phone, though when she took my order, she was kind and polite. Now let’s talk about the food. It took me well over 30 minutes to receive my order. There was only one chef available, but that isn’t really an excuse because there were only 3 parties in the café and one of them already received their order. Breakfast food are quick and easy. It should take less than 15 minutes to make pancakes, eggs and bacon. And $ 16 for less than 6 ounces worth of corned beef hash?! I wasn’t told about the price and I felt ripped off. They were stringy, and incredibly oily and salty. The pancakes were so tough and rubbery it was like they left it on the griddle for a thousand years. The eggs were basic, and the bacon was lackluster. I have a $ 20 tip because I felt bad for the waitress. She seemed stressed and the place looked like it wouldn’t pick up. I’ve heard great reviews about this place from many friends, but I guess I came at a bad time. Even so, I will not be returning.

I was expecting coffee shop. It is a bit more restaurant than coffee shop, but was a really nice place to get some work done over a delicious breakfast. I had the corned beef hash. It was excellent. I’d definitely recommend this item. Nice place, the music was working to my taste. Loud enough to listen to, not so loud as to cover conversation or be a distraction. Reduced to 3 stars because the Cream-puff was just ok and the second beer I ordered was warm. They’re friendly, but need to work on their QC.

I really want to like this place but after 3 tries I’m done. While the wait staff are friendly enough, they are either utterly untrained or just oblivious. It’s a mystery to me how anyone could bring untoasted«toast» to a table without noticing. I had to send it back. We were never offered refills on coffee or asked how are food was. The Check was dropped halfway through our meal without a comment, question, refill and no dishes removed. Food is fine but not spectacular and prices are hipster high.

I love the idea of Dot2Dot, and the local feel give you warm fuzzies inside. The food is decent, although some items are way better than others. The Brioche French toast must be the best thing on the menu. The eggs leave something to be desired… just basic diner-type eggs. I would definitely return and try some other items. It’s also a great place to come to read or get some work done, as it’s fairly quiet to moderate level of noise and usually has some empty tables. I would love to sit here on a rainy day reading and drinking tea and eating pastries! The service here is really friendly!

Tried this place again, food still sucks and the quality of the quiche went down:(Coffee is still amazing though. Why do the employees always seem so frazzled? Like stressed out especially when there are barely any diners. I honestly am surprised this place ss still open, especially now that there are better places in lower mills, ashmont and savin hill

I had great experience with this local please but recently this place has gone downhill ever since… I believe they fired the cook, their service is extremely slow and didn’t bother to pay attention to our table. It’s such a shame because I really love their food, their french toast and eggs benedict is amazing. One time my boyfriend and I are went for a nice breakfast. We waited for 1hr in a half, I am not shitting you. the wait was so long that he wasn’t hungry anymore. He was displease and pledge to never go to this place ever again. But like any disobedient girlfriend that I am, I still went with my sister, multiple of times. The service is still slow as ever. I hope they hire more staff so the service isn’t as slow.
