Great food and even better service. This is not a place for fancy atmosphere even though it was a nice and clean. The steak was a great steak for the price especially. Service wise we never had to look for our waitress to bring us stuff. She was constantly checking on us without being a pest. I highly recommend this place.

This is Dothan comfort food. If you are looking for a high end steakhouse — this is not the place. This is a «back porch» type steak and one of the best at that. No atmosphere, but a Dothan staple.

Don’t go here unless you want beef. My co-worker & I both had the chopped steak & while they’ll only cook it medium well or higher — it was still really juicy & tasty. Their special steak sauce is really good & flavorful. Also, they have one of the best yeast rolls I’ve ever had. Will definitely go back if in the Dothan area.

Steaks were average, at best. Salad was small, lacking croutons, and not crisp. The steak fries were soggy. The grilled cheese was one slice of cheese between two pieces of barely toasted bread. The rolls had a strange flavor to them that I did not care for. Will not be back. You’d think with like 10 things only on the menu they’d do a really great job, but I guess not.

60 year old steak house that has past it’s prime and needs to retire. Really potatoes wrapped in foil, salad nothing but a slice tomato 1st under roll. Average at best steak. Presentation like a old truck stop. Pull the plug

Best steak in Dothan. They received best steak in alabama in 2014! The hamburger steak is actually my fav. Ask for the secret sauce on the side! Homemade ranch, delicious rolls, hand cut fries. You won’t be disappointed.

This was my first time here and I really liked it. The steak was cooked exactly to order and their secret marinade really gave it great flavor; no need to add any type of steak sauce. We waited about 20 – 25 min to be seated, which I thought wasn’t bad considering how busy they were. The service was awesome as well. Our server quickly took our drink/food order and it was out in about 15 min. Most people comment about the atmosphere not being like most chain restaurants and they were right. If you’re looking for that, then this isn’t the place, however you would be missing out not giving this a go!

By far the best steak I’ve eaten. Came back in the area after 10 years and still the same quality of service and food. Not a fancy place but who cares.

If you are from out of town, you kind of have to know what you’re getting yourself into before you go to this place. This is not Longhorn, this isn’t Outback, this is real Dothan, Alabama. Real people, plastic tablecloths, baskets of crackers, bowl of butter and country crock, and a waitress who is very likely to call you«Hun». Do not judge a book by its cover because this is one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. I don’t know how they store their wine but it is served near to outdoor temperature, so, if it’s hot out, get yourself a cold beer. Menu is extremely limited– just order your steak and move along. Don’t be looking for a wide selection of vegetables as sides either; the baked sweet potato is southern legit. The«homemade cheesecake» is homemade in that it is made carefully following the recipe on the Jell-O package. Service is impeccable. I only wish I got a bigger steak.

The quality of their filet is far superior to that of any of the chain steak houses in the local area. Tender, richly flavored and perfectly cooked. Very limited sides(basic salad, baked potato, delicious fries, or broccoli, and yummy little dinner rolls)…but it doesn’t detract from enjoying the main course in any way. Delicious top quality beef. Ask for real butter instead of the«whatever» that’s in the dish on the table, and a small cup of au jus with your steak.

I only gave it 4 stars for the décor and lack of a full bar. If you are looking for ambience this is not the place; 50s wood paneling, tables and booths. If you are looking for a perfectly prepared steak at a reasonable price… this is THE place! I had the t-bone and it was perfect. I would definitely return the next time that I am in town.

Don’t let the unassuming exterior or the 50’s cafeteria interior fool you! Folks don’t come here for frills. They come here for steaks, excellently prepared. It is important to know that these steaks are heavily seasoned, so if you are looking for simply grilled meat, this isn’t the place for you! Filets are fork-tender and delicious, and the service is quick and friendly.

Steaks were very good! Very casual dining… Restaurant was busy until about 830. They have a very simple menu which allows them to do it great. The tables are very close together, makes conversations a little hard to hear.

Sold 4 stars, I had the tbone and it was great! It came with 2 sides, I chose the baked potato and side salad. The steak was cooked perfect and was very good and we’ll seasoned. Potato was good, salad was small and had very little lettuce. The rolls are great! The biggest downside of this restaurant is the atmosphere, you would think with the amount of money this place brings in, they could do something with the décor. They have windows that are boarded up, I didn’t understand it. It’s very dingy and outdated, could use new life brought to it. The good was fantastic and I would have no problem giving them 5 stars if it was updated. We had the cheesecake, it was awful. Do not recommend. Very small beer list.

If you want an amazing dining experience and atmosphere, then don’t eat here. These are great steaks, and would easily be $ 45+ at a «fine dining» joint. Rolls are second to none. Simple but fresh salad. Really don’t see how anyone could give less than four stars unless they prefer Applebee’s bc they have commercials and bar drinks with umbrellas.

I had the ribeye and ordered medium just in case they cook it medium very slightly well. Came out medium slightly well like I like it. Seasoning good, meat very tender and juicy, overall price was good. Atmosphere was mediocre, but I came for a good steak, and got it;-) Parking sucked; 30 minute wait, but worth it. They moved people in and out quickly. Would I go back? Definitely!

This is a great place to eat. I have been eating here for 20 years. Try the filet. The food is great and the service is always fast and friendly. You can’t beat the prices.

Overall… better than a chain steak place but not up to par for foodies. Arrived at 4:30pm on a Saturday and was surprised to see a parking lot full of cars. Entered to find a waiting list for tables. Although very busy I was seated within 15min and promptly greeted by my waitress who was very friendly. I was pleased that she immediate asked for my drink order and provided me with a menu. The menu, as others have noted, is limited to steaks and a couple of near steak options. Vegetarians don’t bother going here. NO options. The wine list … well isn’t a list. You get your choice of one offering of each of the major styles of wine which is a real bummer because a good wine can really help a just«ok» cut of meat. I ordered the larger Ribeye with baked potato and salad. My waitress brought the salad was out very quickly and with a smile. The salad consisted of iceberg lettace with a slice(yes slice) of tomato on top. No croutons. No anything. The salad dressing was a bit much and either runny or they didn’t drain the lettuce well. The result is the same. When the steak arrived I thought back at some of the other comments posted on the site. There was a lot of «juice» but it wasn’t sitting in grease as stated in other postings. It was cooked correctly(medium rare) and the baked potato was cooked just right. I liked the fact that the butter was already on the table so I wasn’t fighting with a frozen lump of butter. Good job! On the downside, the pepper was more pepper dust and the salt was about as far from sea salt as one could get. Ok, so now on to the really important thing… the steak. Ok. That’s it. Ok. Tasted like a grocery store quality piece of meat cooked excellently. Better than a chain restaurant steak but… far below a really quality cut of meat. I’d prefer they offer a higher end piece of steak with a higher price tag. Good. but not great.

Old timey. Stodgy. Cinder-block. Summer camp flatware and tableware. Think iceberg with one sliced disc of radish, and thousand island. Just like 1974. No joke. And thats the secret. It’s black Angus. If you’re from TX, or Oklahoma, you’ll get it. If you want modern art, go away. Far away. It has prints of Remington’s on the wall. Old Deep South has a majority of teetotaling baptists, hence the abysmal wine list. I doubt you look down your noses at a Moroccan place without your favorite IPA!

I was visiting my boyfriend at Ft. Rucker for the weekend last weekend and Saturday night date night rolled around. In Atlanta, we can usually be found having a pricey fabulous meal, so we ventured out to find something fun. We feel the same way about chains– even the worst independent place is better than a crappy, mediocre chain where almost everything is cooked from frozen. We decided to stop and check out the menu of the Conestoga, but someone had told Zac that it was«pricey» — when we approached, we were taken in by the smell — delicious steaks wafted out. The atmosphere is ridiculous– it looks like a church basement except replace the red gingham with brown gingham. We were completely cracking up at the menu because there really is only steak. No appetizers. No extras. We might have been the first people to order a bottle of wine here in years — a $ 15 bottle of Glen Ellen did the trick with old-timey wine glasses. Service was top. Our steaks(a small ribeye for me and a big one for him), were overcooked– more to medium/well than medium/rare but honestly, the people watching and simplicity of the place were pretty fun. The rolls are amazing– yeasty, delicious, hot. We were in and out for $ 60 with dessert and a bottle of wine. Cheapest meal we’ve had in a while. I’ll never regret choosing this over Longhorn — good food, fun people watching, unique spot.
