Went last night for dinner with friends. One meal — shrimp with pasta — was undercooked; another, prime rib was overcooked. The hostess was gracious — she comped us with a free glass of wine. The service was also lackluster — had to request ketchup for French fries, olive oil and red wine vinegar came to the table late etc. On the plus side, nice atmosphere, they offer Guinness on tap(and can pour it reasonably well) and the chocolate lava cake dessert was excellent. Have been here two or three times previously and have gotten better meals. Not sure if the place is slipping and this is a trend or if the kitchen just had a bad night. Anyway — things need to improve significantly.

My family and I have been going to this restaurant for a while now. We have tried a lot of things that they have on their menu. Such as the turkey dinner, chicken marsala, turkey club, steak tips, and more. The macaroni and cheese with lobster is great. They serve you four big pieces of it. It is big enough to be a meal in its self. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. A bar area is separated from the dining room area. The only booths are within the bar area. Everything else is tables and chairs. The wait staff is always attentive to your needs.

The food was really good. They have a diverse menu, which is good for the location(Douglas). The drinks were very weak. Service was absolutely awful. The place was busy, but not overly so for the staff that was on. The staff was more interested in socializing with each other instead of taking care of their tables. I also saw other patrons complaining about service. This place is a goldmine if it was running in all cylinders. Instead it is running at 50%. The people that were working except for the busboy, were not attentive at all. If they could fix the service and serve consistent drinks, I would recommend it.

As a local resident, we are glad to have this very decent establishment available to us in a town with nothing else but pizza shops. Unfortunately, we usually venture outside of town to other places because you can’t enjoy a nice dinner without being forced to endure the bar crowd. The bar crowd is largely fine and well behaved but it’s mainly one particular lush who looks like John Denver’s black sheep sibling who ruins the entire experience with his drunken cussing broadcasted across the entire place. Every time we think of going there for dinner, it nearly always gets shot down because we fear he’ll be there. And on the rare occasions when we do go, there he is. Such a shame that management allows this. I guess he must bring a lot of booze money in there…

The last two trips here and the food was outstanding! Beef short ribs were excellent! Calamari with balsamic glaze was perfectly cooked and very tasty! Buffalo wings were crispy and on the bigger side which I like. My wife had the mussels which were a special that night and they were outstanding! Both nights service was great! I will continue to come back!

Last time we are coming to this restaurant. The service was not up to par at all. 1st off I ordered a Dirty Grey Goose Martini and arrived with a bug suspended in an ice chunk. Then it took us at least 10 minutes to flag a manager to tell her I haven’t received my replacement drink. It had been sitting up at the bar because she just picked it up without a wait. We finally ordered and after 20 minutes we asked the bus boy to find our waitress to get out food. Oh surprise it must have been sitting in the window waiting for pick up. My veal parmigiana was not crunchy at all due to it sitting for so long. Pasta was a bit overcooked as well. My wife’s burger suffered the same fate. You can’t find fresh avocado? It’s obviously frozen because of the hard consistency. The cherry on the sundae was the terrible band that started playing at 8PM. Don’t think we will be coming back anytime soon.

Stopped in last night for the first time, seated right away in the bar area tables, great waitress Barbie, we both had the prime rib, one of the best we have had and big! we ordered the queen cut, wonder what the king cut looks like, salad was very good, you could tell it was not bag o salad that most places serve, homemade dressing, great service, and my husband ordered the chocolate lava cake, had to sneak a bite, delicious!!!, they have music after 8 and that can be a little loud, but we will be back again.

Consistently good food. Wednesday nights(unfortunately) are trivia nights and our last two visits happened to fall on this night. It gets VERY loud in the bar area. Really the entire place as the host goes throughout the entire dining room. More appropriate for the bar IMO. But whatever. And he could lose the mic its unnecessary in such a small space! So we had 2 angry orchards(on draft, so delicious) gigantic delicious boneless buffalo wings to start, two side Caesars, and two entrees, which by the way. are HUGE. and our tab was $ 47. You can’t beat the prices, which I believe have come down since they opened. He had the chicken parm with rigatoni & I had meatballs sliders with these amazing potato wedges, hand cut and crispy delicious. The meatballs were about the size of my fist, there were three of them on perfectly toasted sesame brioche buns. Both entrees were 9.99 I believe and we left more than enough for dinner the next night. Service is always spotty, this night our server was especially busy and I think there were 3 servers in total between the dining room & bar. It’s not a large space by any means but she was gone a long time in between courses. The upside with this is that courses came out at a decent pace, I had a feeling we would get everything all at once when our salads didn’t show up for 30 minutes. After that the kitchen seemed to catch up. We arrived at 7:30 and left(restaurant was EMPTY) a little after 9:30. A little late for us for a ‘school night’ but I believe they were short staffed. Townie regulars in the bar can get annoying & loud but it is what it is. We don’t come here on the weekends because if imagine it would be a shit show and dinner would be a four hour affair. Stick to the bar and weeknight sand you’ll be better off. We’ll be back!

We found this place by accident and were pleasantly surprised. The first thing I got there was a pizza with mashed potatoes and steak on it. Needless to say it was quite filling and pretty good, although it didn’t make for great leftovers. Since then I’ve been with my wife multiple times and we enjoy the food. I like the chicken parm and she likes the turkey dinner. Now for some negatives: The service is hit or miss. Some waiters/waitresses are on top of their stuff and some aren’t and instead choose to openly chit chat with other employees and neglect their customers. One time we went there to eat and there happened to be a live band playing. This place is more suited for a single acoustic performer, as an entire 5 piece band was blaring loud. There’s also the occasional loud, obnoxious, drunk townie that you may have to deal with if you eat at the bar on a weeknight. That sounds like a lot of negatives, but I’m just being picky. We really do enjoy this place and it’s one of our default eateries.

Took a good friend of mine there 3⁄8 Saturday barely anyone in the restaurant sat at bar ordered steak tips medium rice and a salad my friend ordered the burger had several drinks 40 minutes later food comes out after we complain. Other patrons in the establishment that came in after us were being served their food. My medium steak tips turned into burnt beyond recognition charcoal briquettes. We were in a rush they offered to re-cook them but I said no instead they re cooked them gave them to me on a tiny plate and walked away and never asked how they were. Epic failure this place really needs to reevaluate the staff and the«chef«. This place has potential but it’s hit or miss and lately it’s been a lot more miss.

I’ve lived in Douglas for about 4 years and just tried this place for 1st time ! It was very clean and nice inside, food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Service was pretty good. I ordered a Mai tai for a drink and it wasn’t anything near what it should have been, but will prob return and order beer rather than mix drink next time …

PREFACE: 70% of issues were due to staff– 30% remains with garbage food. where to start… Tried this place when it first opened, then again about 6 months later– both felt like a trip to the DMV. Atmosphere gets a C– … It’s tables in a cold room and a bar with 2TV’s. I’m not going to detail our first experience, but there is a reason we didn’t go back for 6 months– I just figured after they settled in and pulled it together it may pass as decent. Wrong! 2nd visit was on a cold winter Saturday evening– restaurant was probably 25% full yet for some reason the hostess felt the need to seat us at a lopsided 2 top right by the door and the hostess stand. Between the cold from the door and hearing the staff talk about how amazing the last episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians was, we asked to move. New table and server– we successfully pressed the reset button. Let’s try again. How about drinks? Jack and Ginger with a lime and a vodka cranberry with a splash of soda and a lime– nothing complicated. Drinks come up and it’s jack and ginger minus a lime, and a vodka cranberry with an additional glass of tap water and no lime. Hmmmm– we’re off and running. ***side note– we asked for limes after the drinks were brought and the server came back with lemons. Appetizer came out shortly and it actually was really good– probably the highlight of the meal– lobster mac n cheese. If you’re going to put yourself through this ordeal at least try this app– you won’t feel completely robbed by the experience, just make sure you’re not far from home or comfortable straying from your«home bowl” — just saying. I ordered the grilled ribeye steak sandwich– menu said caramelized onions, mushrooms and american cheese on a French role– sounds good, right? I shot for the stars and asked for a side of au jus with it– I should have known better when my request for a lime with my drink threw the server a curve ball. Dinner arrives and I actually forgot what I ordered because what I received looked nothing like what was described. What I got was a very fatty steak which did not appear to be a ribeye with onions that had been heated in a microwave, then a cold piece of American cheese was thrown on top, no mushrooms– also I’m not sure what part of France the roll came from, but I’m pretty sure it was a white sub roll from anywhere USA. Surprisingly my request for au jus was ignored. Food was dropped so apparently that means the server is done– there was no follow up and eventually we flagged him down, asked for boxes and the check. Dinner was over and we got out of there– in the parking lot we realized we left the boxed food on the table(I still believe it was Freudian and possibly the best decision of the night). Needless to say we will not be returning. If you so feel the need to try this place just let me know– I will come to your house, spit in your face, ignore you and then take $ 60 out of your pocket– sounds rough but you’ll thank me for it. #howisthisplaceinbusiness, #iwantmymoneyback, #gotoKFC

Update… The Grille continues to be consistent, friendly, efficient, and most importantly, the food really is good. The new menu is well rounded offering entrees from burgers to filet mignon. One of the best things to happen in this little town in many moons..

My mother and I usually meet up for lunch in the Douglas area since it’s halfway between each of our houses. Our usual place wasn’t open for some reason, so we drove by the Grille on Main and decided to pop in. We got there around 2−3pm, and there was only 1 or 2 other people there. The hostess and the waitress were very nice and had us seated and with drinks very quickly. We noticed that the food was a bit pricey, so we settled on a chicken flatbread pizza to split between the two of us. The food came out within a short time and the pizza was fresh and absolutely delicious. I’m not sure of what the atmosphere is like here at night, or when it’s busier, but it felt a bit«upscale» due to the prices and the uniforms that the waitresses were wearing. Not really our scene, as we prefer something a bit more laid back. However the food was yummy and the service was also great. Little disclaimer, we went here only a short time after The Grille opened, so it’s very possible that things are a bit different now. However, I can say the important thing is, we left full and satisfied, and felt that the staff was very nice. We will be back to see how the place has grown, for sure!

We went there for the first time after reading some good reviews in the local paper and after hearing about it being«so-so» from someone who ate there. We were there rather early for dinner(4:45) and were the only patrons in the dining section. There were a handful of people in the bar section. The hostess and wait staff were very pleasant and took our order quickly. We ordered salmon and fish and chips but substituted mashed for fries — which seemed to throw the waitress off. It took about a half hour for the food to arrive. A little longer than what I would expect, but acceptable. The mashed potatoes were cold, but the other food was hot. We waited for several minutes for the waitress to come around to let her know about the issue. When we did, she asked us if we wanted her to «heat them up for us». Aside from the cold potatoes, I found the salmon to be over cooked to the point where the meat from the grill side was tough instead of tender and flaky. The fried fish was also over cooked and did not taste fresh. We didn’t mention the over cooked issue to the waitress. We are not the type that usually sends food back. The potatoes were so cold that we made an exception –and even that was met with an unusual response. Another thing that i didn’t like was that people seated after us with a different waitress were given a basket of bread. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice. Especially if it were warm. Then when we paid the $ 32 tab with a $ 50 dollar bill, the waitress asked if we needed change — a pet peeve of my wife(who’s been a waitress for 10+ years). All in all I would definitely not go back to eat there again.
