Went in for breakfast with my daughter on a Monday, was unusually busy but I always had a quick refill on my coffee and the staff was attentive. Eggs and bacon were good, hash browns were a little«fast foodish», seemed deep fried. My daughter had pancakes, good size but did not have too much flavor. Would have benefits from a scoop of butter instead of the couple butter packets we were given. Overall a good value for the money.

Went a while back and was dissapointed, but they may have changed cooks. Food is excellent now. I always order the«hungry man» 3 eggs, bacon, homefries, toast and two pancakes, and spilt it with someone. Really no complaints at all. Chocolate chip pancakes and homefries are perfection, and for 10 bucks, can’t beat the price. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that we usually get the waitress that is kind of standoffish and seems bothered by any request.

Although I still have the same feelings about this restaurant as expressed in my last post, the owner had contacted me to clarify that the fee was not for an «extra plate», but it was for two adults who opted to share their meal(i.e. the Hungry Man Special). As I had expressed to her, I do not understand why restaurants charge a fee for plate-sharing when one is paying for the food in the first place! Does it mean one will have to pay a fee to take their food home because they might end up sharing it with someone else? Obviously, each restaurant can implement whatever rules they want, but as a consumer, I know of many restaurants where I can get as much food as their Hungry Man Special without having to pay an additional fee for sharing. As part of this post, I will apologize publicly for the misunderstanding regarding that«extra plate» fee, but as far as my opinion goes, I still feel the same at present and unless things change in the distant future, whether or not I go back is still up in the air.

I am often out on sales calls to odd section of New England so I end up at new places once in a while. This place was a nice mix of classic diner and a bit of touristy fun. The customers were mostly local by the look of it and the staff seemed to know them. The food was very good along with the price.

Friendly service, and good food. Simple no frills breakfast. Restaurant is small though, and fills up fast. I had 2 eggs over medium(which were cooked perfectly) with ham, homefries, and a pancake. Reasonable for the price, but just average, nothing remarkable. I would eat there again though if I was in the neighborhood.

I LOVE the picket fence. Everytime I go there for breakfast the service is fantastic and the food comes incredibly quick. I always order the same time– their corned beef hash! Its delishious! I have never had a bad experience there, only have been there for breakfast.

Food was good hash wasn’t from a can big pancakes and most importantly decent coffee. Service was very friendly, and for the review who said they were snapped at by a waitress for sitting at a table that was for 4 or more, open your eyes they are marked as such.

We went here this past Sunday, I had heard many good things. The first thing I can say is very local, with many people that are usuals. Second our food came out very quickly almost two quick. My boyfriend got the half and half, he ended up not feeling well afterwards. It’s not a place we would go to frequently maybe not again.

The Picket Fence is decent place to get a filling, reasonably-priced meal. No, they won’t ever win a culinary award or get featured on TV for their creativity, but they serve up good food. The people who own and run the restaurant are really nice, too.

Our visit here last week lived up to our expectations. Their reputation was well known to us from earlier reviews and from family and friends. Our server was friendly and did check on us a few times, but seemed to disappear for long stretches. Mrs B had bacon and eggs while I enjoyed the Hunga Mian Special. There was plenty of food on the plates, needed a second plate for the pancakes. My only complaint would be the eggs. What was supposed to be scrambled eggs were way too loose. They were more like sunny side up. Good tasting but not what I wanted. Since I didn’t see my server, I ate what was given to me so I could enjoy the entire meal while it was still hot. I would not hesitate to return if the opportunity presents itself.

The place is really clean and and the staff was friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, the food was only fair. The hash browns cost extra, and they turned out to be frozen patties that were deep fried like they serve at McDonalds, only the McDonalds ones are better. The home made hash was excellent, but the«cheese» sauce was Velveeta, «yuck». The Eggs Benedict was okay, the hollandaise was canned, but that was to be expected. The home fries were fair, but the portion was a little light. Coffee was good. Rather expensive for the quality of the food, $ 25 with tip for breakfast for 2, only beverage was coffee. You can find a worse breakfast in the area, but it isn’t easy.

«The Fence» is THEBEST place in the area for breakfast and lunch. The high quality food is consistantly prepared and served by the efficient and friendly staff. You might have to wait a few minutes on the weekend for a table but it is well worth it. They are also open for dinner on Fridays — the fish is great!

This truly is one great place to grab breakfast in the Douglas area. Good prices, friendly service, and great food. My favorites would have to be the omlettes here. The homefries are always delicious. For those of you who have served in the military, ask about the SOS. I love that stuff, too! They also have a lunch menu, as well as really amazing milkshakes and ice cream!
