In the same way mechanics take advantage of people who know little to do with automotive repair earcraft uses the same unfair tactics to screw anyone who does not know any better. Shop online if you want a good deal. Go to garys guitar loft in Portsmouth if you want any respect as a customer. Or any decent advice. These people know nothing and will not survive another year in this town. No matter how many dumb college kids get suckered spending their parents money.

I’ve been going to Earcraft since I started playing guitar several years ago. My guitar teacher, a lifelong musician, suggested it when I was ready to by my first high quality guitar. I love this place! On rare occasions when I have free time, I’ve gone in just to look at what’s new. The acoustic room is outstanding. I like that I can see and touch and try new, vintage, prototype, gently used, and a variety of current models all in one room. I have bought two guitars there over 4 years. I got plenty of help, input, and encouragement to help me choose a good match for me, but never any pressure whatsoever. Checking on prices before and after, I found that I had gotten a good deal. I do the majority of my shopping online, but not a guitar. Buying a musical instrument such as a guitar requires that you hold it, see it in person, touch the wood, and play it to find out if it is for you! Earcraft is an official Taylor distributor. They know people at the factory, they host Taylor Road Shows, and they are extremely knowledgable on Taylor guitars. They have a great relationship with Taylor, which is helpful to the customer. Earcraft has a very wide selection of musical instruments and brands, and services including repairs and lessons. I highly recommend Earcraft!

I’ve been an Ear Craft customer for years and the never let me down. They do great work on repairs and guitar set ups, and always have a really great inventory of new and used gear. They’re the premier Taylor dealer in the Seacoast area and have a great selection of guitars, basses, amps, effects… everything! Super nice staff that are easy to work with. Everything you want in a local music store.

I visited three music stores in a day because I was looking to buy a new ukulele and a beginner guitar. At the first two stores, no one would give me the time of day which was actually fine since the selection was average at best. Finally, at Ear Craft, I found the perfect ukulele for my needs. When I was checking out, I asked about their guitars, and explained what I was looking for. The guy checking me out, pretty much blew me off, which was annoying since it was the third time that day I’d tried to get some advice on a good guitar to buy and been blown off and treated like they didn’t want to take the time to sell me one. I was about to walk out, pretty happy about my uke purchase, but still wishing I’d found a guitar when Skip– another Ear Craft employee– engaged me and asked some more probing questions about the kind of guitar I was looking for. Thirty minutes later I’d been given a crash course in acoustic guitars– the shapes, sizes and types of wood used and how the differences add up to change the instrument. Skip then left me alone in the guitar room to play a few on my own. 20 minutes later, I walked out with a brand new uke AND an awesome guitar. I haven’t put either one down for any significant length of time outside of sleeping and going to work. I wouldn’t have left with the guitar I did that day if Skip hadn’t taken the time to really understand what I was looking for. I spent more than double my budget that day, but I haven’t regretted it for a second. If you’re looking for an instrument, Ear Craft likely has what you need, but Skip is the guy who will help you find it.

This is the place for guitars on/near the NH Seacoast. I bought a used Gibson 12-string that had been repaired by a tech/guitarist on staff. He showed me everything he had done.(Great work !) I’ve had it for 4 months and it plays great. They sell everything from $ 100 starters to high end Martins and there’s a nice climate controlled room you can sit and play the acoustic guitar of your dreams. They have lots of electrics, books, ukeleles, even banjos.
