Don’t bother. Overpriced, boring. Go up to Sonnys for an excellent meal with a staff that cares about their patrons.

Came here for my birthday. Had the filet mignon and roasted duck. Both cooked absolutely perfect. The new head chef they have here is super talented. I’ll be back for sure very soon!

First time at this restaurant. In the mood for a good steak dinner. We were not disappointed. We had planned on grabbing a drink upstairs and then going downstairs for dinner. Since we had comfortable seats and my husband could not tear himself away from the playoff game on the tv I agreed to stay put. The bartender Tom had already proved to be attentive and earned more points by telling us two large parties were due so he could time our meals accordingly. Our meals came out in a timely manner, piping hot and cooked to perfection. Despite the fact it got busy Tom and his co workers kept our glasses full. We will definitely go back!

7 years we waited to come back. We hoped it’s enough for this place to clean up their act. Today we are ready to give them another 7(or maybe 10) years to do it again. Good ambiance, friendly even though a bit clumsy service(not overly so, just to give you«home» feeling vs. «fine dining» one), well-balanced creative menu. OK, you knew already I will talk about the food at some point. And the food, unfortunately, was the low mark. No! The lowest point was terrible coffee(even though we were told we will be given a fresh batch — the espresso machine was out of service). The highest bright spot was filet mignon: practically perfect. Another good points: excellent bread and nice«Shrimp & Alligator Cheesecake»(Remoulade). All the rest: the bottle of Pinot Grigio, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 deserts) were ranging between«so-so» and«not so good». I don’t want to pay $ 60 p/p for such quality thank you very much. We are done with Orchard Street Chop Shop for a long long time.

Food was great. I ordered the filet, it was cooked perfectly. The real gem was the desert. The gluten free chocolate cake with the chocolate and the strawberry tequila sauce was delicious. The sauces alone were incredible. I’m not usually a fan of most gluten free deserts, I think most of them taste like they are missing something. But this cake was amazing. I will definitely be back for the filet and the cake. The new chef was also really great. He is personable and you can tell he is passionate about the food he makes.

We went here for dinner after work. When we entered the place was empty. We ordered steaks and some drinks. The waitress was lovely and very friendly. Food was OK but I definitely had steaks in other places with better quality. Definitely a pleasant place that started to get busier as we were eating and will go back if we need some decent place for dinner in the future..

I’m a fan of the Chop Shop and have been for years. The menu is simple, but each item is thoughtfully prepared. It’s definitely the best«fine dining» experience you’ll have in Dover. Actually, it’s the ONLY«fine dining» experience you’ll have in Dover. Comparing it to the more«foodie» town of Portsmouth, I’m giving it 4 stars. Comparing it to everything else in Dover, it would get 10 stars. It’s a good place to go for a special occasion– birthday, anniversary, etc. The atmosphere is sophisticated, but suited to a steakhouse at the same time. Friendly waitstaff who are knowledgable about the menu, wine list, etc. never disappoint. Bottom line: I’ll go back.

I’m writing to review our wedding reception experience from a couple of weeks ago. When my now husband and I got engaged last year, we had considered renting a hall for our reception. This would have left a lot of work for us. Koz, the owner of the Chop Shop, had given my husband his card(he frequents my husbands place of work) and I emailed him. I went to check out the upstairs and fell in love with the rustic feel of the atmosphere. The bar staff was super friendly, and we went ahead put our deposit down for our reception. We had the TIMEOFOURLIFE celebrating with our friends and family. The bar staff was exceptional the night of our celebration, and they kept me informed of where things were, what was happening, and constantly kept my water glass full. When the night was over, I started putting up chairs(out of habit to clean up after myself) and the head bartender told me not to worry about it, it’s silly for me to be cleaning up on my wedding night! :) Overall, we had a really great experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was inviting and the staff was phenomenal!

Awful awful place. Avoid this restaurant for events and try to avoid it for dinner(hey, you’re in Dover so your fine dining choices are pretty limited already). I had a milestone event here and Corey, who was in charge of events, left A LOT to be desired. He was all about planning every minute of the evening, and the night of the event, the staff rushed through everything so we were like two hours ahead of schedule. The food choices all sounded amazing but in reality were disgusting and NOT suitable for handheld appetizers(large slices of juicy tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and balsamic vinaigrette in a napkin to hold as you drink your beverage and mingle? no thanks!). The main course was a train wreck; I’m a vegetarian(and was the focus of the event, haha as prima donna as that sounds) and the risotto they agreed to serve as the non-meat option had uncooked squash and dry rice. It was literally inedible. I sent mine back and they brought it back, a little better, about half an hour later when everyone had already left the table. How embarrassing for my guests, who were too polite to send their food back! The bartender totally padded the bill for the drinks, as there were only about 10 people drinking for a couple of hours and the bar total was thousands of dollars. I never saw the unserved leftover food I paid for or the uneaten portion of the cake(which was substantial). And I love the part how they kept all of the decorations for their staff party the next day. Classy, Orchard Street Chop Shop.

Tough, tough Porterhouse — had to bring it home for soup — $ 50 for the small size. Slow service, even though there were very few customers(which for a sat. nite says what the locals think). Salad was quite good. Atmosphere nice.

Had dinner here with my fiancé. Pulled pork sandwich was excellent as well as the filet. Plated nicely and great sides. Loved the atmosphere upstairs. Check this place out!

The waitstaff is always very pleasant but what made my experience here(besides $ 5 martini nights) was the chef! The kitchen had closed but he was sitting with a friend at the bar upstairs and when he heard us ask if the kitchen was open he piped right up and said what would you like. .I’ll whip it up for you. He suggested the pulled pork quesadilla. It was amazing! I will definitely be back… Most likely for a full steak meal just so I can support businesses that want customers. .He sold me that night!

Love this place! Too bad I live 10 hours away from it. Have only been here once and just happen to know the owner. Had a fantastic dinner starting with the Calamari and a nice glass of wine and then onto the Cowboy Ribeye steak. Finished the meal with a Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee. Service was fantastic and food was equally as impressive. This is a fine restaurant in a superb location. I only wish I was closer to visit more often. Keep up the good work!

Fine dining northern New England style… Orchard Street Chop Shop Dover New Hampshire 2÷25÷2015 Set on the grounds of was was originally the first fire house in Dover… They offer both casual and fine dining atmospheres. I prefer fine dining with its linens table service… And although this was fine dining, it was fine dining northern New England Style… An ensemble of booths and tables with a gas fireplace in the corner for ambiance… I found them on TripAdvisor and there is a link to their YouTube Chanel. Five minutes of video view later my palate was in love… I was greeted promptly with a smile and brought to my table. First up a serving of warm bread with a house made butter accompanied by cream cheese, dill and just the right about of garlic. Not just any bread but bread bought in daily from New York… In my, and many others humble opinion, a Mecca for true bread lovers… As though an illicit affair was going on inside of your mouth… A creamy and savory combination of north meets south with its roots deeply embedded in its Louisiana heritage… A ménage a trois of Alligator, shrimps, cheesecake in a roasted red pepper remoulade that will definitely send your taste buds into orbit as only a good toe curling can… The 18 Oz Cowboy Ribeye was cooked to perfection… With it’s pink center and charred exterior, evil thoughts ran rampant thru my mind… Add in a bourbon glaze and a worcester sauce and you’re ready for trouble… Served over a bed of fluffy white rice, red beans and a side of blackened asparagus… Although the steak was quite flavorful, I’ve come to the conclusion that I am more of a Filet guy… Rounding out my dinner was my signature cappuccino… Friendly, flavourful and not your run of the mill choices on the menu make this a must stop on the gastronomic trail…

I really wish that I had listen to other reviews and stayed away. Service was absolutely terrible from the start. 4 people and they«ran out of menus» no big deal I can share with my wife but not what I would expect from a nicer restaurant. It was 25 minutes from the time we were seated to the time someone came for our drink order. Another person came back and took our drink order again in ten minutes??? and then thirty minutes in the drinks came. Our appetizers were nothing special. The quesadillas may have been the brightest part of the whole experience. The calamari was overcooked and lost in the Fra diavolo sauce. Steaks? Yes we had some. My wife ordered a ribeye that looked like it should have come with eggs and home fires at a dinner for 9.99 — not a quality cut of meat at all. It was ordered medium and served medium well. I had a 50+ ribeye that was also overcooked and come thrown on a plate with 6… yes 6 thin pieces of asparagus cooked to mush and hidden under the disappointed cut of meat. My other side«shoestring fries» wouldn’t have been enough to satisfy a McDonalds happy meal order. and although the menu said there was sweet potato fries in there, I found none. Not trying to be overly dramatic but honestly I have had better cuts of meat, better service, and better executed dishes at Outback. If your going to do it do it right — It’s meat and potatoes! So the table finished the meals, and the wine, declined desert, and waited for the check. After sitting for about 30 more minutes,(over 2 hrs total meal time so far) I hunt down the waitress for the check. Then another 20 minutes go by and I have to get up and interrupt her from her«side work»(folding napkins, wiping silver, etc) to ring us out. There is a line in service between rushing your guest and just plain not doing your job… this place does the latter — No drink refills, no water refills, LONG wait, and inattentive staff combine that with terrible execution on the food — I say why bother with so many other choices near by. It’s really a shame because it is a great location…

Not great… Service was slow and waitress had been smoking a few times while waiting on our table not exactly what one is looking for with a dinning experience. Steak was good and well cooked and they have a nice wine list, But just don’t have the details in place to be a top notch restaurant. Sorry but this is a pass.

After two visits here I am disappointed to say I won’t be back. I came here on a Thursday, gentleman’s night, cigars and rum tasting. Although the friendly atmosphere was welcoming and the owner/chef(Chris) assured us it was the place to be, it was a waste of money and time. This experience was dreadful. After ordering apps vegetarian friendly, the chowder came out with pork. Not a problem if the staff hadn’t told us it was vegetarian. Rather than deescalating the problem. We were confronted and told that there was no meat in the chowder. As if the cooked bacon on the side of the dish was added by us. Later our entrees, stuffed haddock and creole corn was brought out with bacon on top the corn after asking if that plate was once again vegetarian friendly. Only to be told by the waitress creole means bacon. After a long service time and getting butter but no bread and the awesome meals. We asked for our checks rather than just leaving. All items were on the bill, even after not eating and no management was available to discuss our dissatisfied experience. This is not what we want in our community. Please Chop shop fix your business.

We have eaten at Orchard street a few times and it is just ok. Very pricy, the food is good but not over the top. It takes forever to get your food… great location though. They should chop their prices and waiting time and it would be a good place.
