I popped in there occasionally while in the Dover area, but after my experience today that is not likely to happen again. I’m not sure what happened but there has been a drastic change here recently. Walking in the door I was greeted with the smell of a pile of dirty laundry, a cattle chute of an entrance-way to get to a wall of games rather than the nice short isles they had previously. I turned heel and headed right out the way I came in. The environment has changed from what I had once perceived as a pretty family friendly place into something that did not meet the minimum standard of a FLGS in my opinion. This is not the review I would have given this store 6 months ago, likely the other end of the spectrum. Terribly disappointed, and they should be ashamed of that pungent smell.

It’s really nice to have a game store in town, and the location is great — right next door to a coffee shop, and in the same shopping center as a couple of takeout restaurants. So it’s easy to grab a bite to eat or a cup of joe to enjoy while you’re playing games. They have a fair selection of some of the most popular games. Of course you’re going to pay more for them than you would if you bought them online. Call it a convenience fee. I’m sometimes willing to pay it, sometimes not. They also have an area set aside for actually sitting down and playing games, although I think there’s a miniscule fee for doing that. There’s a substantial selection of games that you can enjoy right there in the store. You’re allowed to bring outside food and drink in as long as it’s not the same stuff they sell right there in their own store. The drawback, for me, is that some of the clientele can be a little umm… not conducive to shopping. Sometimes we go in to look at games and there are tables full of people right across in front of the shelves, so you can’t really get a look at what’s there. And they’re not in a hurry to get out of the way, either. We still stop by pretty regularly, and I think they’re an asset to the town. Love not having to be limited to Big Box Store selections and Amazon waits.

Well, it’s tough to rate this store properly. I’ve been checking out Our Game Table since they opened a couple years ago, and I have to say that I’ve been very critical of the store. When they opened I was excited about a board game store opening in my area. They closest one otherwise is in Newark. Then I started going there frequently and the store picked up a steadier clientele and I started to not like it. The owners don’t have the best business sense, and there was room for a lot of improvement, and the store attracted the typical type of clientele that I don’t enjoy hanging out around. So I stopped going. Then about a year ago I got a birthday coupon for the store so I decided to stop in and use it and met the new manager the owners had hired. He was much better at running the business, and had«straightened out» a lot of their clientele. I started frequenting the store again, and become friends with a few of the people there. But then I noticed a subtle change… The store is a fantastic place to shop and hang out, when the right employee is working. If you go in there when one of the few employee’s who smart and able to «control» their less desirable clientele ISN’T working… it’s like walking into a preschool, and makes the shopping experience horrendous. So I was very torn between 2 and 3 stars. The store’s selection of RPG books is also very limited. If you’re into CCG’s or board/card games this is an excellent store. Their selection of board games is phenominal. But the limited selection of table top rpg books is very sad, and makes me wish I worked there if only to fix that problem for them. All said and done, if you’re an RPG gamer — go to Days of Knights in Newark. That’s what their focus is. But if you love board games, and are willing to gamble a little with your shopping experience — Our Game Table is an excellent store, sometimes.
