I don’t typically post restaurant reviews but I can’t not accept the quality of food offered around Dover any longer. I’m not a professional cook but oil, salt, and butter should not be the main ingredients in every dish. People of Dover you need to improve your standards or else these places will keep feeding us this slop. I finally stopped in Pizza Mia after driving by several times over the years. I hate American-Italian restaurants because after living in Italy for 5 years I haven’t been able to find anything that remotely compares to the freshness and quality you can find in even the crappiest hole in the wall places around Naples or Venice. Pizza Mia set the bar to a new low. I new we were in for a rough night when the bread the server brought out was burnt, and the balsamic dressing on the salad was so sweet my 8 year old daughter refused to eat it. This is from a child who could eat a bowl of sugar for breakfast if we let her. This is the honest truth, my pizza was sent back 3 times because the crust was blackened. The waiter told us the first was sent back because he didn’t have the heart to bring a burnt pizza to us. The second one I sent back, I rarely ever do this. The third one was black as well but had at least 3 pieces that seemed edible. My daughters cheese pizza was blackened, not just burnt, as well too. I was unimpressed with the toppings that were obviously sliced, frozen and prepackaged at a factory in southern California. This pizza was so oily I could barely choke down the first slice, the second I thought might be better but I stopped half way through. How can a place called«Pizza» Mia mess up a frigging pizza so badly? No Italians use more than a teaspoon or 2 of olive oil to make pizza. Yes America this is true. The Italian places around Dover have ruined the food here to suit your fat, oil loving, sugar obsessed pie holes? My wife’s calamari was horrible as well, ironically it was cold. The service was okay but it bothers me when I actually have to ask for a glass to pour my beer into. Am I supposed to suck on the bottle like some wino? Anybody who gives this place more that one star is delusional. I have pretty low standards for food, I don’t eat foie gras or beef wellington but I will never go to Pizza Mia again. Please fell free to contact me Pizza Mia, I think you should fire your food cooker. I refuse to call him a chef.

Love their fish. Always fresh and cooked to perfection. Brick oven pizza is spot on. Ambiance is great.

This is an outstanding restaurant. I have been frequenting Piazza Mia for over 5 years now and I am always amazed at the consistent quality of food and service. Nothing leaves the kitchen unless it perfect. This is not a chain. Owner is a class act and walks the floor greeting the customers. He takes great pride in his business and it shows. If you havent been here you need to give a try. The place is impeccably clean and well appointed. The service is always excellent. This restaurant is a Gem!

About the same level of Italian as Olive Garden, but I don’t think this is a chain restaurant. Good enough, but not amazing. Looks like a chain on the inside, though.

Piazza Mia has a great Happy Hour, the pizza is good, all the food is good, Nick, the owner is a Brooklyn boy, and Jason the bartender is a great bartender. Go there!

Great food and outstanding service! We’ve eaten here a few times, and each time has been amazing. The food is prepared fresh and offers a unique mix of traditional Italian fare. The serving staff is exceptional, and with little turnover they really know the menu and clientele.

Great looking place! Makes you feel like you’re dining in Italy! Food was great, we had a pizza which was very delicious and a tiramisu for dessert, not homemade, but nice presentation and very yummy The only reason I only gave 4 stars is because it’s a little pricey.

Great rolls and oil with loaded garlic was excellent — but I can never get enough garlic! Service(Barb) excellent. Salad entrée with meal $ 2.00 — plentiful. My Chicken and Scallop Provençal(special order without butter) was very good and they were kind to accommodate. Just think the plate needed one more scallop — the plate was full of chicken and veggies; 2 scallops didn’t seem to make the plate complete. Would definitely return. Very comfortable

Best grilled chicken I’ve ever eaten! The atmosphere was great. It has a very beautiful scenery and has a fountain in the middle. My husband got a sky blue martini and he said I was GREAT! They have a full service bar and a rewards system! You put in your name and every 250 points you get a coupon in your email. And Monday you get double points! So for our one meal(on a Monday) we got 107 points! It’s family owned and also has a military discount!

Best Italian food in Dover by a long shot. Serving sizes are generous, I never leave wanting. The bread and oil is delicious, watch out you don’t fill up on that before the entrée.

Overall nice dinner experience. Loved the fresh warm bread with garlic and olive oil. Salad was crisp and fresh, and someone took the time to carefully drizzle it with just the right amount of dressing. Our server was friendly and helpful, and showed a great deal of enthusiasm for the restaurant. Entrees were tasty and well proportioned.

They had me sold on the dinner rolls with fresh garlic, olive oil and salad. Portions were generous on the entrée but average in taste. As far as local restaurants go in comparision this was top notch. A little pricey and our waitress was kinda dry, none the less overall It was a good experience, I would go again and try another dish.

Easily the best Italian restaurant in Kent County. New York-style in both décor and quality. Reaches standards not ordinarily met in this area. Highly recommended.

We wanted to go to a nice restaurant for our anniversary, since we have a 15 month old and we’ve only been out a handful of times by ourselves. We had been meaning to check this place out, and a friend mentioned that the food was excellent, so we wanted to give it a try. The food was amazing! I had never tried calamari, so we got the sampler. It was cooked perfectly. I had the tortellini and my hubby had the veal parm. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were generous. Our server was very accommodating and as we were filling out the comment card, the manager brought us each a cannoli, on him! I can’t wait to go back — the food was worth the price and we will send our friends there too!

The ambience was very nice. We got a nice table in the back corner of the restaurant. The food was way too good. Appetizers were delish… to be honest, I was only able to eat ONE bite of my meal was stuffed and immediately asked for a box. Ate it the next day and it was scrumptious. I had the Spinach Artichoke dip and Fettucine Alfredo. We also ordered mushrooms stuffed w/crab and calamari, they sure did dog the appetizer. The dinner roll was perfect as well — Served w/oil and fresh garlic. None of us were able to remotely finish ¾ of our meal. No more appetizers for me!!! Or i’ll just order appetizer and go separately to try the meal fresh(even tho i love me some leftovers!)

My wife and I stopped by a few days before Christmas and were very impressed. The atmosphere is modern and warm and we were greeted by a friendly hostess and and even friendly server. In terms of food, we’ll definitely be going back. My wife ordered the Ravioli Italia and I ordered the Piazzo Trio. Both were delicious, particularly my wife’s pesto cream ravioli and my homemade lasagna! Both my wife and I remarked at how authentic the food was to what we had on our honeymoon in Italy.
