Not to be bias since this was my restaurant of choice for our Thursday work lunch. Tasked with finding a place for the rest of the crew, I started Unilocaling Peruvian food in the Downey area. This is one of the things I missed about living in the San Fernando Valley. Good authentic Peruvian food can easily be had all around. So I was Unilocaling around and saw this place. Once quick glance at the pictures and I had my choice. This restaurant is definitely a hole in the wall type restaurant. Don’t expect anything fancy but what you can expect is some pretty good food albeit on the pricier side. 8 of us showed up around noon and it was pretty empty saved for a few tables. We were quickly seated and since the majority of the people had never had peruvian food before, ordering was quick with lomo saltado being a common choice. I opted for the #31 which was the Bistek topped w/a fried egg. While we were waiting for our food, we all snacked on the bread and 2 types of sauce that they had. The green is the mild one. The yellow one definitely had a kick to it. Everyone seemed to enjoy food as there were no complaints. Not a bad restaurant for friends and coworkers to get their first taste of Peruvian food. Total came out to be $ 16 w/tip per person. Happy eating!

Waited almost an hour for my food. Horrible customer service. Not worth it. There are many other good Peruvian restaurants nearby. Save yourself the time and money. Never coming here again

Everything was fine until the bill came. I don’t know how my mixed Ceviche came out to $ 17.13 when the menu said it was 14.75… That’s some expensive tax!! Unless the extra bread cost $ 2. I only got 2 extra bread! They weren’t worth a freaking dollar each! I tipped $ 2 as well… Shady place. There was like no one there when I went… I can see why now. Food was good but just double check your bill!

Food here was ok, service was ok, parking was ok small lot for a few businesses, ambiance was ok. This wouldn’t be a business I recommend but it people want to go there I wouldn’t mind going back.

Super over priced for the food that you get. On top of that they charge $ 1.00 extra to use your card! That’s just lame. Pollo a La Brasa which is on Old River School has much better food and it’s cheaper. Peruvian food is usually pretty pricey in general, but come on… live up to price that are are going to charge.

First time at this place, my husband is a regular here, and he always told me how good it was, so I decided to give it a try. I was very pleased with the saltado de pollo is very good, it was my fist time having that dish with chicken as well, and I’m glad I did.
Good and quick service, and I loved their mural on the walls too. I am coming back, lots of good things to try out.

The food of delicious. Good quality. Service varies. Sometimes is quick. .sometimes you have to remind them you’re here. But food makes up for it..

Had the lomo saltado. Food was very good, if perhaps a little«simple.» Service a bit slow. Appeared there was only one server, who also served as the cashier. Price a bit high. With a soft drink my meal came to $ 16.00 before tip. Asked if there were lunch specials. There were a couple of special items but no discounted lunch prices. I really enjoyed the food, but for the price i’d drive a little farther for other options.

My new favorite peruvian restaurant! I had the lomo saltado especial. It was cooked to perfection! They serve you bread before your meal comes, even that was delicious with the two bottles of sauces they give you. The cook is very nice and welcoming and so are their waitresses. Great place

The food here is ok. I’ve been here a few times, however the service gets terrible wax subsequent time. It will be forcing me to check out other places in the vicinity. She rolled her eyes at me cause I asked her for a receipt.

My first time at this restaurant was yesterday. I ordered Lomo Saltado. The seasoning was very good. The only thing that it could improve was the amount of sauce as you can see in my second photo the fries are dry. In my opinion, Lomo Saltado is meant to have extra sauce so the fries are flavored with the sauce.

I got the pollo a las brasas with fries and beans. The chicken was moist a pretty decent taste(as I’ve had better). The fries were not salted nothing special and the beams wee really good. My hubby got Lomo Salteado and the meat was really moist really delicious. Overall it was a nice experience the food is good the service is slow maybe because it’s a Saturday lunch hour only one sever. The aji sauce not the best.

I had the tamale de pollo con salsa criolla(chicken tamale with creole salsa), which was absolutely delicious. It was listed under«Appetizers,» however, it was a decent sized lunch for me, especially after sharing the small basket of rolls with my husband as we waited for our meals to come. We had the rolls with the aji(yummy, spicy green sauce) and garlic mayonnaise. My only complaint about the tamale is that there was only a teeny bit of chicken on it. Still, very filling and appetizing. The tamale came with a small side salad of onions on a bed of lettuce that I used as a topping. At only $ 4.75, this was a great value. Hubby ordered a mixed seafood soup in a tomato base with cilantro and served with half of a huge lime. The soup was extremely delicious soup and filling(in fact, we took some home, which hubby had later on for din-din)! The fish, scallops, and calamari were perfectly moist, soft, and yummy!!! There was also crab, shrimp, and small octopi to be had(also very good)! The soup was a tad on the expensive side: $ 14.99, but worth its weight in fish. All-in-all, great stuff! We will definitely be back! :-)

My boyfriend and I just grabbed some to go last night and it was delicious like always! We had driven by it a few times and he took some home awhile back. We’ve been very impressed and never let down the past few times we have gone. Staff is really nice and they always get our order right. I usually get the Lomo Saltado and he gets Bistec Pobre. We also grab the plantains with whipped cream for dessert. Service is great, foods great, and now they have delivery available within the area :)

First time and i thought was pretty good we started with Causa and chicha morada to share, the chicha was fresh, Causa had a very good flavor and its something i would like to order again cuz it was that good, grandma had pescado frito(fried fish) with rice and yuca, we ordered papa a la huancaina that was just ok, i had their famous lomo saltado combinado which it had steak, chicken and shrimp and that was delicious and perfect, tallarines verdes(pesto) with a piece of steak and that was good but not amazing like my lomo ;), i took home Seco de Cabrito so i could eat it tomorrow but of course i had to try a bite and the meat was veryyy tender and very good flavor, Ceci our server was very nice and attentive and she asked if we liked all our food, when servers ask you to me that means alot cuz they care, we will be back to try different dishes ;)

After running errands all day, we were starving and not familiar with the area. We decided that we needed lunch ASAP and turned to the Unilocal app to guide us to our next destination. Less than a block a way was a Peruvian restaurant that had pretty solid reviews, so we thought we’d check it out. Now, if you’re driving down Paramount, you can easily miss it(we did) and we had the navigation going. The place has a small lot that all the businesses in the small area share, but there is plenty of street parking if you’re not so lucky. The décor is older, but they have some flat screen televisions showing off various menu items while others were tuned into soccer games. It looks like this place gets rented out for special events as there were speakers, projectors and lights setup around the restaurant. We were immediately greeted and told to sit where we liked. For being around 2PM on a Friday, the place still had a good amount of patrons filling in to eat. That’s usually a good sign. While we waited, some nice dinner rolls were delivered to our table with two house sauces. I went for the green as it was the spiciest and I wasn’t disappointed. For food, I got the Pollo Saltado. It came with a side of rice and a good amount of chicken sauteed with onions and tomatoes presented on top of some crispy fries. The portion was plenty for lunch and ran about $ 12.99 in price. The pollo was tender and the fries stayed solid during the entire eating experience without getting mushy. I’d definitely order again. Service can be a little slow at times as there is only one waitress serving the entire restaurant. It wasn’t too bad and she was super friendly during the entire experience. I’m never in this area, so I don’t know if I will be able to make my way back, but if for some reason I am, I’d definitely make a stop for another meal!
