Great healthy option in the city of Downey. My favorites are the chicken kabob plate and gyro bowl. The flavor and quality of the chicken varies a lot though. I’d love to experience some consistency. Tuesdays are excellent for the free hummus special. Service is always excellent.

this spot is legit. the food is fresh and reasonably priced. clean and tidy atmosphere. only thing I have to complain is the portion of the hummus. it’s like a spoonful and you end up wanting more and probably have to buy a whole hummus plate.

Yummmmmmm! Everything on my plate was delicious! I ordered the chicken kabob plate. The portion was big, and did I mention … YUMMMMMMM! The young man that help us was so nice too!

My first time going here and it’s amazing. I got their Lula Kabob plate. Comes with hummus, salad, rice, and seasoned ground beef rolled into a sausage shape. It’s great and the workers are nice.

I am not sure why mediterranean places are so pricey. I ordered a falafel wrap and bf ordered a chicken plate and it came out to a total of $ 22. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good but just not worth the $ 22. The chicken was yummy. As for the falafel wrap, it wasn’t as good as I would have liked it to be. It did come with a salad. Since I wasn’t able to finish the wrap, I took half of it home and ate it later. And when I did eat it later, the wrap was super salty — so salty that I almost wanted to throw up :(.

Satisfied! It’s my first time visiting this place even though I live in Downey. I’m a fan of Green Olive for Mediterranean, so that’s part of why I hadn’t stopped by. I got curious though, and it didn’t disappoint! Good food, enormous portions, quiet and tidy dining area. Good stuff!

Never been so it was my first, went with my teenager Tonight, Thursday. Used a Groupon. Place was clean, a lil busy. Food takes a bit, but I can appreciate the length because it’s so worth that wait, I ordered 2 plates. The Gyro and the chicken kabob! Food was not only excellent but their customer service is a plus! Loved loved and will definitely be returning. Did I mention the size of the plates? You can share a plate if you like or not and take your left overs for the munchies later!

Mmmm! I haven’t seen many other Mediterranean restaurants in the area, but I really enjoyed this place. The ingredients were all fresh, and I loved the little toppings/sauce bar. Spicy tzasiki? Yum yum yum. The portions were decent sized for the price. I called in and picked up my order so I can’t speak for the service, but it was ready to go when I got there!

I thought the food was excellent for the price. I have eaten at other Mediterranean restaurants and this one competes amongst the best. I had the beef plate and everything on it was some excellent. Also, the staff was super friendly!

I ordered food here for pickup and was amazed by how quick they were at preparing the food! I ordered a chicken kabob plate and two beef kabob plates and they came with plenty of pita bread. It was extremely filling and was definitely worth the price! The chicken was a little dry but was great with the sauces. Parking in the lot can be a bit of a pain though. I went on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait a while to get a spot. I’ll definitely be back!

This is my first time over here and first thing I noticed is that the staffs are extremely helpful and nice. I didn’t get a chance to remember his name but the person who took my order was very friendly and even told me how hummus are made and stuff. Right off the bat I’m already liking this place. I ordered the chicken Kebob because that was what he recommended me and honestly was not disappointed at all. The chicken are a bit dry, so for those of you who are tender chicken lovers only this might not work so hot for you. You get a choice of white rice or brown rice and it comes with salads on the side as well which has a sour tasting sauce(yummy!). And of course, a big scoop of hummus which is super delicious combined with anything on the plate. Oh, let’s not forget the breads as well on the side! Dining areas are clean and not very loud, there are already utensils prepared for you on every table. Service is great, foods are great as well! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t been here before!

This place is phenomenal! The chicken kabob plate has so much taste(not sure what the other reviewer was talking about). I’ve never had kabobs as juicy and tasty as these. And what’s so great is they give you garlic sauce, hummus, and unlimited tsatsiki sauce. It was all great. Only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 starts: 1) the AC didn’t seem to be working well when I ate there today when it was like 100 degrees outside. Made it a bit uncomfortable. 2) It would have been great if you had some veggies with the kabobs(besides salad) and option for some more garlic sauce. All in all I wish they would open one of these closer to Hollywood and the Valley where I live. Will be hard to come back being so far.

I couldn’t go straight home after work to a house with no A/C. SCE turned the electricity off due to repairs that needed to be done. So I decided to go to a place with A/C. It really worked out because The Hummus Factory is nice and cool inside with a great atmosphere to boot. Cool spot with a good vibe. I ordered the Gyro(beef) Plate and sure enough it was good. Came with pita bread and Tsatsiki sauce — Yummy. Although I’ve had better. I would say the rating would be more like 3 ½.

Very fast service, and excellent food… they have brown rice option instead of rice for extra $ 0.50, which is great for a healthier meal option… We got the combo plate with three meats, chicken, beef, and lula… it was so much food that I we were able to save half of each plate for next day lunch…

I purchased a groupon deal which was $ 12.00 for $ 20.00 so I purchased it and decided to give this place a shot. I went there a few weeks ago and ordered a chicken plate and a chicken bowl. First of all, they only accept one groupon at a time so I ended up paying like $ 13.00 extra plus the groupon. The chicken plate came with hummus, salad and rice. I am not a big rice lover so I chose extra hummus instead. Hummus is excellent, they serve regular and pita bread. The chicken chunks were too big for my taste and were lacking flavor. The rice on the chicken bowl was bland. I was stuck with the $ 10.00 groupon deal so I went again on a Wednesday. All appetizers are $ 2.00 on Wednesdays so I couldn’t use the groupon(blah!) for that promotion. I used the groupon to purchase a Greek salad and it was bomb, I needed to buy $ 10.00 worth of food before tax so I ended up adding falafel on the side and ended up paying $ 2.00. The groupon deal was not worth it. I will definitely go back on Wednesdays because their hummus is delicious and only $ 2.00. They have diff types of hummus so this will provide an opportunity to try them at a very low cost.

The Hummus Factory is relatively new to Downey. Being a huge fan of middle eastern/Mediterranean food, I’ve been wanting to try this place. I felt the menu was pretty basic and uncomplicated. I chose the appetizer combo for the decent price of $ 9.99. The interior of The Hummus Factory is clean and maintained. It’s large and roomy, friendly service. It’s actually thriving and that makes me happy. We need more variety in Downey. The plate was a beauty to look at. Great presentation! There’s nothing like eating food that doesn’t look thrown carelessly. The hummus was decent, the baba ganoush was too, falafel was warm and surprisingly moist. I felt the taboule could have been chopped more finely and maybe moister. The food itself was ok. I’m a bit spoiled as far as authentic Mediterranean food since my best friends mom is middle eastern and is a former chef. Her food is amazing and holds the bar very high when it comes to this type of food. I can’t complain about anything regarding The Hummus Factory. The interior felt a little too modern for my taste, kinda like a Chipotle style. There’s nothing with that, I just felt it didn’t mesh well. Service was great. The man taking orders was also clearing and cleaning tables and was greeting everyone that came in. Overall The Hummus Factory was ok, satisfactory.

My parents have been raving about this place for months so the last time I drove down we decided to eat here for dinner. The location was clean, the service was friendly and I would say the food was good. I ordered the protein plate with chicken, beef and lula kabobs, hummus and garlic sauce and no rice. The meat was fresh; I would say the chicken had the most flavor. I was not a fan of the lula, it was dry and over cooked. The beef was pretty bland. I wish they put more garlic sauce on the plate. The hummus was tasty and I enjoyed the condiment bar filled with tahini sauce and other goodies.

I’ve passed this place several times, each time with the full on intention of giving them a try. I finally made my way in one day around lunch time. I was expecting the place to be crowded but thankfully, it was pretty empty. The restaurant is nice, spacious and clean. I had the protein combo plate with the filet, chicken, and kafta with rice, salad, hummus, pita and garlic sauce. The proteins were decent, but not great. The salad and rice were bland, and the hummus was a big disappointment — especially considering their name. Your hummus should be the best if it’s part of the name of your restaurant. Yes, very disappointing, indeed. The garlic sauce, though, was yum — probably the best thing on the plate. The service was really good — the gal was attentive and professional. She’s probably the reason why I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2. There are much better options in the area. I wouldn’t return.

For a place named ‘The Hummus Factory’ you would think the hummus would and/or should be spectacular. It was good, but not spectacular. Kabab Crush in Cerritos really has phenomenal hummus. The hummus at Hummus Factory wasn’t quite creamy or flavorful enough to put it at a 5 star rating. Lupita was nice. She recommended various dishes. I told her I wanted to sample various meats, so she suggested the protein combo. I asked if the in-house lemonade is free refills. She said it’s not free refills, but she would do it for me anyway. Cool. The lemonade tasted really fresh and invigorating. The décor was nice and the tables were clean. Porto’s is right across the street. The Hummus Factory is located in the Downey Gateway along with Noodle World Jr. and Starfish Sushi(I’ve reviewed all three). It was Saturday night and there were only three other parties. While waiting for my food, the other parties left. I was alone in the restaurant. Somehow I always pick empty restaurants, lol. I don’t mind though because I can get my food more quickly and enjoy a quiet environment. They bring out the bread first that comes with the protein combo — three individually wrapped pita breads(one regular, one dark brown I’m guessing is wheat or healthier?). You can use them however you like. Dip in the hummus, add ingredients from your meal to the inside, or simply enjoy on its own. Protein combo, chicken, beef and lula: This dish got me thinking: am I just becoming more spoiled and picky about kabobs? For me, nothing compares to Kabab Crush(Cerritos).(Incase you’re wondering, no I have not tried Open Sesame or Raffis Place yet, but I want to.) I’ve had similar plates at Arya(Long Beach) and World Famous Grill(Bell). Lately none of these are stacking up to Kabab Crush. The chicken was okay; it had a hint of some good spices going on, but just a hint. Could’ve used more seasoning to have great flavor. The beef was good and tender, but I had to add table salt. The lula was just ok, which is strange being that it is their beef just ground up with spices supposedly. I didn’t really taste these spices, so once again, there was a lack of seasoning. Essentially the service was 5 stars and the food was 3 stars. So I’m giving 4 stars. There’s a lot of better Mediterranean/kabob places around the neighboring cities. I’ll continue my quest for the perfect kabob!

I was pleased to give this new place a try. I came during lunch hour which was a bad choice. Downey Gateway was packed and parking was a mess. Nevertheless, I made it in and was able to get into The Hummus Factory. I walked in and the line to order was a few people deep and tables were filled so I decided to get my order to go. I decided on the chicken kabob plate($ 10.50). This plate comes with rice, salad, and hummus. My order was up really quickly and I was on my merry way. The chicken was marinated well and it was juicy and tender. I like the fact that it came with the garlic sauce, opposed to some other places charge you for it, but it is super garlicky and you may need a good brushing and mouthwash afterwards! The rice was cooked perfectly but the salad was drenched with too much dressing. The hummus was average although I expected more since it is called The Hummus Factory. I guess I’d have to try some of the other hummuses they have in order to get more outta The Hummus Factory. I also wish they would give more pita bread but it is what it is. Would I come back? The answer is yes although there are other Mediterranean restaurants in Downey with cheaper prices. All in all it was pretty good.
