Had a meal here recently and was greatly disappointed. First of all, the restaurant was filthy all over. The white tablecloth and napkins had yellow stains all over them, the front door’s glass looked like someone had smeared a dirty rag all over it, and there was a thick layer of dust on the high-top chairs we were seated next to. I’m no clean freak, but if you’re charging $ 20 – 30 for a meal, the restaurant’s cleanliness ought to reflect a restaurant of that caliber. Heck, if you’re charging $ 8 for a meal the place should still be clean! Next– the food was absolutely sub-par. My scallops were fine, but my partner’s steak was pan-fried, not grilled as per the menu, and was of very low quality meat– we’re talking discount grocery store quality. For a mid-$ 20 steak, the quality should really be there. Our cheeseplate, $ 14, consisted of 8 small slices of manchego and some other cheese, and a small scoop of some type of blue cheese. I’m fine eating hard cheese by itself, but there really ought to have been some sort of bread to eat with the softer cheese. Plus, I could have gotten half a pound of manchego for $ 14, so that was a massive rip off. Oh– and to top it off– there was a heavy drizzle of olive oil over the cheese! So much grease everywhere! The server was fine, although she was pretty absent throughout the meal. An overall unpleasant food experience for the hefty price of $ 60. Will not be back and would never recommend.

I had high hopes for this place since I loved Tablon and it is apparently owned by the same guy. I’ve never been so disappointed. $ 25 bought me an overcooked«ribeye» that I almost couldn’t bring myself to eat. I can’t think of anything positive to say about this place.

My girlfriend is from California, that being said it is so hard to please her with Spanish cuisine. This place was fantastic. The staff was friendly and the owner/chef was very pleasant. The food was very good. I have found a new favorite byob.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing meal last night(paella was perfect and his tenderloin w pumpkin was rich and intense). Same chef as tabblon but with an exciting new menu. The server was charming as intelligent and really made us feel welcomed. I also appreciate their willingness to prepare a dish around my comfort zone as I’m a pussy when it comes to trying new dishes. I wish nothing but success for them and want them to stay around. Cannot wait to try their scallops next time!

Dined at Torero last night and had a very pleasant experience. The server was top notch and our meal, the shellfish paella for two, was excellent. It’s very convenient for those in the neighborhood. If you’re driving in, street parking is available. I’m concerned that it may not last with it’s price point in that location. Our meal was worth every penny they charged, however entrees ranging from $ 17 to $ 30 is a tad pricy for the location. We’ll be back and will bring friends. Hopefully they’ll find the sweet spot of the right price for the right product and will be successful in the location.

I wasn’t expecting a lot and unfortunately my hesitation about trying the latest restaurant to occupy 3704 Garrett Road was well-founded. I was a big fan of the food at Tabblon and was pretty sad when it didn’t work out for them. Upon investigation it turns out Torero has a connection to Tabblon. Their menus both feature paella, which is what my husband ordered. It smelled fishy and the shrimps weren’t cleaned. Given that there was only one other couple in the restaurant, I’m not sure why the chef didn’t clean the shrimp. I tried my husband’s dish and didn’t find it that tasty. I ordered the skirt steak on recommendation of our server(who was wonderful!) I probably should have ordered the steak medium, because it was too chewy medium-rare(well, actually it was served rare). The highlight of the meal was a crab cake served with some sort of pumpkin-tomato sauce — this was surprisingly good. The meal came with complimentary olives and toasted bread(always a nice touch). We ended the night with dessert — a bread pudding made with what tasted like a store-bought blueberry pound cake. The ice cream and sauce were really tasty, but I was a little disappointed. I just don’t think this restaurant is going to make it in this location. The prices for entrees are in the $ 25 – 30 range, and the entrees we had were only average. Our server was the biggest improvement when compared to Tabblon — he was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly. But I was always willing to forgive the bad service at Tabblon, because that scallop/risotto was so darn good. So sadly I won’t be recommending Torero, although I wish them well, but would suggest they figure out how they can lower the prices and raise the quality of dishes coming out of the kitchen. Also: Lose the elevator Muzak. Seriously, I haven’t heard«Feelings» in forever and that was fine by me.

Ate there on the 11th of February. It was excellent the chef and server were wonderful. The meat plate, tuna and paella were all fantastic. It is a great new spot in Drexel hill. Go! Now!!! You will not be disappointed.
