We went there for prime rib night. The queen was a horrible cut with a lot of fat in it. I ordered the chicken parm and the sauce was nothing to brag about. I brought the leftovers home and my 10 year old daughter took a bite of it and refused to eat it. We were very disappointed. For a more upscale facility, I expected the food to be much better than it was. We will not be going back and I would never hold an event there if they are served the same food we were. Disappointing. Save you money and go to Theodora’s

I only get out a handful times a year to play golf anymore. It’s an expensive hobby so I tend to either pick my courses for a) the price being as low as possible or b) they are great enough to get me out to play. SS falls into the B category for me… One of my best friends has been holding a yearly tournament here and I make the 5 ½ hr trek down from Boston to play in it each year. I’ve been impressed with every aspect of SS, from the staff to the challenging and sometimes very beautiful holes. The tournament has only been run well with a tasty, catered meal at the end to top it all off. An Italian spread of chicken marsala(overcooked but definitely good marsala sauce), sausage/peppers, ziti and and a decent tossed salad. Throw in homemade chocolate chip cookies at the end for good measure, nomnomnom. The tourney takes place on Sundays during NFL season and the bar is stocked full of NFL fans with jerseys on from teams throughout the country, it doubles as a decent sports bar for football crazed Hazletonians. So the golf. My father told me that the EPA said they had to keep many of the wetlands on site which make this course that much more tricky than a standard one with only bunkers as hazards. My only complaint is that there should be more water hazards throughout although I’m not sure that is possible given the environmental restrictions. I can’t remember the exact numbered hole but man, one on the front nine is absolutely incredible. There is a 60 ft. deep, natural bedrock ravine you’re staring into from the t-box in a really short par 3 but the ravine makes the hole look and play a lot longer than it really is. I’ve seen guys in my groups tighten up and sink 2 – 3 balls in there before finally hitting a good iron shot to clear it. Tough 400+ yard par 4’s with challenging doglegs and fairway bunkers means you’ll lose at least a handful of golf balls on the day. One time, I went into a little brush and came out with a half dozen found balls, so I think I almost came out even on the day. :) I looked up the prices, weekdays in the sumertime after 1:00 with a cart for only $ 24 a round? Sign me up! Man I wish I could get those kind of prices back home. My only complaints were how poorly the t-boxes were kept, I wish there were more smart golfers who replaced divots. The greens were pretty pristine and the fairways/bunkers kept decently as well. Highly recommend this course if you’re in the area.
