We stumbled across this café on our way to Blewett Pass from Cashmere. This is the kind of café I wish every small town had. When we saw the huge biscuits and big slices of ham, we knew we were in for a treat. The veggie omelet wasn’t stellar, but it was genuine. Next time I might order the andouille sausage just because it’s rare to find that on a breakfast menu. There were guitars mounted on the walls. With a name like Take a Break, I thought the owners might be bluegrass musicians. If not, they oughta be.

Visited on a busy Sunday morning, looking to try a new place and followed the ratings here. Very popular spot with locals lined up to be seated. Don’t know why they weren’t using the outdoor patio in good weather. Atmosphere lacked the charm found in some other local diners. Furnishings had outlived their usefulness years ago. Limited seating. Service was poor, attitudes were flat at best. My coffee cup was empty most of the time, and my attempts to wave down the infrequently appearing waitress failed. Coffee was weak anyway. Menu looked like good Diner fare with both expected and original choices at good prices. Breakfast was well prepared and hit the spot, I had one of their unique Eggs Benedict options. Unfortunately, the food alone isn’t enough to bring us back.

This a great staple On Highway 2 tucked between Leavenworth and Wenatchee. I typically get any one of their great breakfast items(though I hear they have a great lunch). My favorite item on the menu is the country benedict. Poached eggs over sausage and biscuits with sausage gravy and a side of country potatoes. Add a lil hot sauce and its perfect filling dish with a marriage of country flavor. They have some healthy options for those looking to eat a bit cleaner. The owners are the main cook and one of the servers who go above and beyond to keep the typically full house satisfied. A charming place with great food. If you’re passing through«Take a Break» and stop into this amazing café.

Huge portions for low prices, and the quality is consistently excellent. Everything is made right there, service is attentive, and you won’t leave hungry or disappointed. If you’re staying in Leavenworth, driving in/out of town, or on a road trip, definitely stop in. Breakfast is served all day, and the lunch menu is awesome. Try the biscuits and gravy for breakfast, and the buttermilk chicken tenders(with their homemade BBQ sauce) for lunch. I’m getting hungry for them just writing this review…

Best brunch in the valley and excellent staff to boot. Small restaurant but well worth the wait if a table is not available. Plates are big enough for truck drivers with a menu to fit any Coasties palate. I recommend the toadstool and the free coffee.

The corned beef hash here is awesome!!! I’m usually really picky when come to corned beef, it was either in a can or not crispy enough for me. My husband ordered a sausage omelette and it was so delicious with carmalize onion, mushrooms and pepper.

Pleasant surprise in a small diner off of Hwy 2. We had the cheesy bacon grits, the so be it, and the chocolate chip bread pudding French toast with caramel sauce. No way could we finish it all, but I had to taste that French toast. Next, to try the lunch menu.

Just had a wonderful breakfast. I had the So Be It and it was delicious. It was too big to finish. I definitely recommend the half order. The portions are huge! Very tasty though!

We were leaving town and stopped in for breakfast. Small place, full of people, eating good food. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich. It’s a good portion. I mistakenly thought that I could eat the smaller portion of the chicken fried steak. The smaller chicken fried steak is a HUGE portion. Everything is delicious and kudos to the staff who were working on-point, despite being short 1 person at work. Would highly recommend stopping in here!

Thanks for the reccomend! I had to try the bread pudding French toast(4.00) and the half order of chicken fried steak(8.00)…you can see how much I had left over from the large portions. I don’t typically like bread pudding but the French toast was amazing! The chicken fried steak was very good as well. Tons of great food for the money!

We’re from Texas and I thought we knew what a big(delicious) breakfast was, this place puts any place I’ve eaten to shame. We had a party of eight, everyone ordered something different. Absolutely, no complaints, fantastic food.

On recommendation by our daughter we stopped in to this little unassuming café for breakfast. This is as good as it gets. The service was perfect and the food delicious. The fry bread was so amazing that I had to share it with my husband who had made tut-tut noises about the calories. It was worth the indulgence. We both savored every bite. I recommend everyone go now before they are so famous you won’t be able to find a seat. This is the best food on Hwy 2.

We found this place the night before, and decided to eat there the next morning. Great decision. We waited maybe 5 minutes before the ladies put us a table together(6 of us there). We got some diner coffee and looked over the menu. I had been told to try the bread pudding French toast no matter what, so I figured I’d get as a side to share with my husband. I ordered the chicken fried steak(the small portion thank god) and a side of the French toast and my husband ordered the simple breakfast. Let me tell you, for the price, the portions were humongous. And so damn good. The chicken fried steak was perfect and the sausage sage gravy on top was to die for. And that French toast is the best thing I’ve had in a while. Especially with the salted caramel sauce they give you. If were ever back in the area, we will be back to eat here. For sure!
