Was looking forward to eating some filipino food only to find out that there is a For Lease sign on the window…

Place your catering order with Jo-Jo’s. Everything from their pancit sotanghon, to beef steak and lechon was good. Prices are steeper in this neck of the woods but if you can’t cook a lick of filipino food, choose Jo-Jo’s.

Yum, just finished my first taste of Jojo’s Lechon. Wait that sounds dirty. Anyways the prices are low, $ 5.72 for a large portioned 2 items combo. I got the adobo chicken and the lechon. So tasty I had to tell my coworkers. My mouth did hurt a little after I ate all that fried pork though. The adobo chicken reminded me of something my mom made when I was little and they put some adobo sauce on the rice which made it amazing. I think I’ll go back and try other stuff.

This is like most filipino food establishments. It’s cafeteria style and you point and choose your dishes. My tagalog isn’t so great and I recognize dishes and don’t know their names so I end up just pointing. Definitely does not rival my mother’s cooking. Although I have only eaten at 1 filipino food establishment that even comes close to mom’s cooking. Not much to rave about with Jojo’s Lechon. It’s not my first choice for filipino food but only 1 of 2 filipino food establishments I know of in the area.

Went to Target to get the kid a lock for the BMX bike I bought him. Damn thing cost more than my tax refund and I’d kinda like him to keep it for more than a week or two. I decided to hit Big Lots! before I went home and turned right on Huntington. That’s when I spotted Jojo’s Lechon in the tiny strip mall next door. I had do some Steve McQueen style driving to make the turn into the driveway – yeah, in a Hyundai. I’ve been looking for a decent point-point joint near my new digs. Could this be it? Be still, my quivering taste buds! There wasn’t soul in the place at 1:30. I walked up to the counter and took a gander at the stuff in the steam table. I have to say that it didn’t look all that appetizing. A girl came out of the back to assist me. A two item lunch plate costs $ 5.25 at Jojo’s. I ordered the chicken adobo – I figured that would be the safest bet. I had trouble picking a second item. They didn’t have any dinuguan. Sadness. The lumpia didn’t look very good – it was visibly greasy and misshapen. Hell, I can roll lumpia better than that! The girl recommended the Mongolian beef. Eh? That’s not traditional Filipino food as far as I know. I went ahead and got it anyway. I must say that it was a TON of food for $ 5.25. The container leaked all over my passenger seat on the way home, and I have leftovers that could be another meal. The adobo was okay – just okay. The sauce was flavorful enough, I guess, but it was far from the best I’ve ever had – even my own. When I make chicken adobo, you’ll find a few whole garlic cloves and crunch into a some peppercorns. I just can’t make it at home because we have vegetarians in the house and other folks who can’t deal with chicken on the bone.(wimps!) Well, Jojo’s didn’t trip my wires, that’s for sure. Can’t say I’ll ever go back. Probably not.

They cater! And DELIVER. And that is a PLUS. I am so very limited when it comes to cheap catering and delivery for my workplace around here. We had the party pak for 20 people that included 50 eggrolls, lechon manok(roasted chicken), noodles, pork BBq, boneless bangus(milkfish), 20 almond cookies for $ 145. Cant beat that. On our small budget, that allowed us to get extra trays of food like adobo chicken, garlic rice and Tortang(eggplant)! We had a feast and people fought over the lechon manok like vultures. And one rude person had the gall to actually take the last of it to their own seat and eat the last peices of it right out of the serving platter. Sheesh. and my boss commended me on coming in below the food budget with an abundance of food that everyone enjoyed.

Definitely hardcore pinay cuisine. Not so much a restaurant as a steam table lunch joint. Filipino TV playing, and lots of native eaters scarfing down. Minus points for their pork skin being too hard to eat at all — maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think it’s supposed to resemble dominos.(And I don’t mean the pizza!) Calandan juice, poached bangus, lots of other Filipino goodies. They seem to do a big catering business.
