I had a wonderful time finding and making my new friends. The staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the many different options and ended up with two. I think that the sound and scented options are a great idea. It is always interesting looking through the outfits. I went to the store in a wheelchair and was pleased to be able to easily move about the store. I enjoyed the hand control that allowed me to help with the stuffing process. I can’t wait to go back.

Expensive but kids love it. I brought my daughter here awhile ago to let her build a bear from scratch. We had never done it before and thought it would be great bonding time. There are several different items to pick from to stuff and lots of different outfits to pick from. The lines here are A LOT smaller than at Easton so I would go here before going there. Great experience.

My kids had fun making their stuffed animals. The staff was very friendly and patient. My only complaint is that this stuff is soooo over priced and they show all these extra things to your kids that of course they want and 2 stuffed animals with 1 outfit each, hair bows, a leash/collar, a mini clearance purse and a dog brush and a scent disc in each to make them smell like cotton candy costed me $ 124! I knew it wasn’t going to be cheap but I just feel it could be a little less but my kids love their creations so it was worth it since it was my oldest daughter’s birthday :)

My daughter received a gift card for Build-A-Bear Workshop for Christmas, so we braved the post-holiday mall traffic and headed to Tuttle on a Sunday. First thought — smart move choosing a store location directly across from the play area, Build-A-Bear. Now, anyone who’s been in one of these places knows the drill… pick a creature(it’s not just bears — they carry bunnies, dogs, as well as licensed characters like the Muppets and Hello Kitty), stand in line to have it stuffed, stand in line to brush and fluff it, stand in line to create a «birth» certificate, stand in line to check out. Depending on the extras or clothes you want, I can easily see a single animal topping $ 50. We were lucky — my kid skipped the clothes and sound chips, so we managed to leave the store for around $ 17. I could deal with the lines(we were there on a Sunday, after all), but the biggest frustration was that there was a birthday party going on while we were there. I’m sure this is a regular occurrence on weekends. Because it’s a relatively small store, there’s no separate room or area for birthday groups. So you have an extra 10 or so kids(plus their parents) crowding the stuffing station on the busiest day of the week. I really wish they had another room for parties(according to their website, this is something that’s available, but only in a handful of locations), even though I know that’s not always easy since mall retail space is at a premium. I will say that despite the crowds, all the employees were friendly and seemed to handle it in stride. Personally, I’d probably give it a 2-star review, but let’s face it — I’m not their target customer. My daughter loves the dog she made at Build-A-Bear, so they get a 3, despite the lack of space. My recommendation would be to go on a weekday… I’m sure the experience is much more pleasant when it’s less crowded.

So, I have walked by many of these spots but finally my daughter dragged me into here so we could get our bears-a-built. Now, I am not a doll kind of person but I did like the setup. When you first walk in the least expensive bears are right in front so if your child is somewhat small you could sneak out of there for around $ 20 if your really wanted. I was surprised to find a ‘Hello Kitty’ doll we could build and for my little one it was all over. You pick out the doll, they stuff it for you according to how soft or firm your kiddo wants it and finally you can dress and name the animal. Overall the experience was pretty good and the staff was friendly but you sort of get nickeled and dimed(the dress and shoes for ours were sold separately) and you can easily get stuck in a long line if your there on a Saturday afternoon.
