Modern Nails

I don’t write many reviews but this was by the the worst experience I have had at a nail salon. I usually go to the place upstairs but they were closed moving into their new permanent place so I went to this one. First of all I had three different techs I the time I was there, they kept passing me to one another and at one point for the first time felt like they were talking about me. I even spoke up and said I had never felt like such an inconvenience in my life and he just looked and me and kept working. I couldn’t wait to leave and finally did after an hour and a half… When the place upstairs has me out within a half hour. I will never be back.

I get a pedicure here every few weeks. They are very nice and do a great job. The salon is clean. I love the massage chairs while I get my pedicure. Everyone always comments on how long my polish lasts too. I find all the ladies that work there to be very nice.

I went in to treat myself to a birthday gel manicure and wish I hadn’t…3 weeks later my finger is still torn to pieces! The lady got very upset with me when I asked her to not sand my nails down with her drill tool, and she started speaking very angrily in a different language to another tech (he even turned around and looked at me), after she was done with my cuticles she shooed me away from her station to another tech… I was very uncomfortable the entire time!

I don’t write many reviews but this was by far the worst experience I’ve had in a nail salon. I had a gel manicure today by an older lady with short bob and glasses. She blew through trimming my cuticles within 2 minutes. When I asked her to take more off, she replied «I don’t want to make you bleed». She proceeded to tell me to buy some cuticle oil and apply everyday myself to improve the dryness. (I am a surgical resident at OSU and wash/​scrub my hands 10’s of times daily so my hands/​cuticles are extremely dried and cracked.) When time came for the polish, she tried to talk me into doing a clear polish instead of the Bubble Bath I requested since the polish is difficult to polish on evenly. I got the bubble bath, but had to ask to get the polish cleaned off my cuticles before curing under UV. In the end, my nails looked OK but left the salon feeling VERY frustrated.

I had a manicure snd pedicure done today by David at the Tuttle Mall location. The experience was great, and I can’t wait until I can go again.

The staff were nice and friendly. They took their time. However, it took almost two hours for a mani/​pedi. After my nail was corrected several times I went home. The next day I couldn’t stand looking at my nails, they were clumpy in some cuticle parts and missed layers in the sides-​it was obviously done wrong-​I even got comments about it at work. The lines were crooked. I called and they were happy to fix, arranging I’d come back in that night. I came in but was told to come in later when I was initially expected from the phone call. After a long time of taking off my gel again and my nails still not right before she was about to repolish (I“m not a perfectionist nor do I complain often) I told them nevermind I don’t have time and left without any polish. I don’t have hours each night until it looks right and I wasted money and time. I’ll pay again to have them done somewhere else and won’t be coming back here, it would have been nice to get my money back-​they are in worse shape than when I went in.

What you’d expect from an in-​mall nail salon– awesomely quick service with mediocre results. I went in with a friend and we got right in. We were pretty excited to be able to sit right next to each other and chat. Her nails turned out awesome and mine turned out horrible. Her manicurist was pleasant and did a fantastic french-​manicure with Gelish, mine was not at all pleasant and did more filing of my skin than of my nail. The result was uneven tips with nails that look good from far away :)
