Quick service at the bar. Very friendly and even introduced herself. Fun and lively crowd. Food was good, typical bar food.

Not entirely sure why there are so many negative reviews for this place. It is your typical local neighborhood watering hole, an «everybody knows your name» type of place to quote Cheers. Cheap or very reasonably priced for the area drinks, service is always good and friendly. Good bar food, the pizzas in particular are really good and would give any local pizza place a run for its money. Good bands on the weekends and good specials and trivia games during the week. I come several times a year with friends and have never been disappointed with the service.

Great drinks. Great service. Great food. Great music and sound system. As the name«on the rocks» would suggest, it is a bar for fanks of rock n roll music. The crowd is generally 25 to 55. Lots of professional folks who work in the insurance industry and the like. 5 dollar cover charge on friday and saturday. I think anyone who lives around Dublin can afford that. I havent been at OTR in a couple years, but I doubt anything has changed.

Nice place! Good entertainment! I saw a band called Blu Kuda. Good classic rock. A lot of people! Big Fun! Brian(i think) the bartender was very nice. The service was great! Had some appetizers that were very good. I hear they always have good bands. I’ll have to check it out again.

Went to on the rocks with some friends to see a band. Place was very smoky smelling inside for some reason and was very dirty. Sat at a table where we were greeted by a waitress. All of us ordered a beer or mixed drink. Beer was 3.25 a piece, bit high but whatever, expected on a weekend night. Later a few friends asked for a glass of water and were told they only offered bottle water and not free tap water. This was after we had watched roadies for the band get glasses of water and we each already paid $ 5 each to get in! We pressed the waitress about it we were told they only serve tap water during the day and not when bands are on. Are you freaking kidding me?! We had all bought drinks and paid to get in. Finally after making a stink the waitress brought us some bottled but was very rude about it. Pretty pathetic when a business is this hard up for cash. Will not return to on the rocks and will caution all my friends to never go.

Love this place, used to OTR quite a bit. I usually go for the cheaper stuff, well drinks and pitchers of Bud Light are fairly well priced. Music is Wednesday through Saturday, and usually rock oriented. All cover bands. I think the staff is great, attentive and quick. It isn’t quite as packed as the other bar across the way, but thats okay. OTR has more room to breathe. The smokers patio is heated, covered and pretty comfortable. The food isnt spectacular, but not crappy by any means. Crowd is in the late 20s to late 40s range, mostly white professionals.

I was here last week after going to dinner at Las Margaritas. There wasn’t any cover when I was here(thankfully). I was the only person I was with not drinking, and I was a little shocked at how expensive a sugar free red bull was($ 3.75!!!) For REAL. It would have been cheaper to buy them at the gas station! The atmosphere was pretty laid back, there were some people out on the dance floor dancing to the cover band playing. There’s the standard pool tables, a patio, all that stuff. I couldn’t shake the feeling though the whole time I was there, that I and the group I was with were the youngest people there by quite a few years. It just had that kind of vibe about the place. It was still a decent bar.

I’ve been to On The Rocks several times to follow a couple bands I try to support when playing in town. Overall, it’s ok. The cover price feels high, but I suppose it goes to the bands. The live music is the highlight for this spot. Service is friendly but doesn’t totally make up for the pricier beverages.($ 2.50 for a n/a diet soda?) Adult bevs are typical higher prices. It feels slightly unclean to me — like someone just needs to thoroughly scour the carpet, bar, floor, walls, restroom. Just an overall feel. Other than the live music which is not showcased in anything resembling style, the bands are just kind of stuck at the front, there’s no real calling to visit OTR. Pool tables in back of space.

I sauntered over to On the Rocks for a fundraiser one Friday night and found that the parking lot and entire bar was packed. Although I’m a Dublin local, I’d never thought to check them out. I was rather impressed with their live music for the evening and the large dance floor(although no one was getting their groove on). They have live music regularly starting at 9:30pm, although their schedule varies based on special events. Since my friends and I got there a touch late we were relegated to a corner by the bathrooms. This would have been fine had the smoking patio door been right next to our table. While I was there we were getting pushed around by smokers who were desperate for a puff. I’m sure this patio is much nicer during warmer weather, but I didn’t get to enjoy it myself. I’d consider coming back for happy hour with their cheap domestics, but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to stop in again unless another great band is playing.

When a local band asked me to photograph them in-action at On The Rocks, I was surprised to find out that it was in the plaza right across from where I work. I was also surprised to hear that a few friends of mine had gone there regularly in the past — I hadn’t even known it was there. There was a $ 5 cover at the door which, in my opinion, was certainly worth the atmosphere and entertainment. I showed up about 30 minutes early, so I was able to hear the pre-show music being pumped through the speakers. Pretty good, eclectic with reasonable volume level. The sound system is impressive with speakers that ran all the way to the ceiling. I don’t drink when I’m on assignment, but I saw a lot of very nice food and beverages going past. Also, a few people were getting drunk, and a lot seemed pretty happy — so the drinks must have been good. Looking at the prices on their web-site, I’d say it’s not a cheap place, but it’s not super expensive either. They do have a nice selection of food — not just one or two things — and you can plan-ahead with the on-line menu. So, as mentioned, I was there for the entertainment, and to capture it visually: the band and the crowd. This being my first time, I can’t speak for any other band or any other night, but I did enjoy the show(a cover band, meaning a lot of songs most people recognize, performed by a different band) and people really enjoyed themselves. Lots of people dancing on the floor and having a good time. Having been in a lot of live-entertainment-oriented bars, I can say that this place is clean, friendly and casual. A few well-lit pool tables in the back, a full bar with multiple bartenders to the side, and a lot of tables. This place was packed, and yet I could still move around, which makes my job easier. During the first set(they played three sets, I stayed for the first two) I forgot my earplugs, which I always bring to shows. The music was very loud, and not screaming or anything, just huge speakers, crazy amplifiers, turned up very loud. Off to the side(near the restrooms) was good, but as you started to move closer to the dance floor… let’s just say my ears were literally ringing as I frantically dug through the trunk of my car trying to find my earplugs which I, thankfully, had brought. The second set had me right up next to the speakers, which is fine with plugged ears. I could actually hear on the way home! So my recommendation? Maybe perform a sound-check or two to make sure things aren’t too crazy loud. I might just be a little sensitive but, knowing that I was going to be writing this review, I actually asked a few of the people around me, and the consensus was that they were having a great time but the music was exceptionally loud. I wrote another review about a dive bar where the music was loud and distorted. Don’t get me wrong, the sound system at On The Rocks was pretty good. I’m picky about my sound and there really wasn’t any distortion. This is a sign of good equipment, but they really should check the sound levels near the dance floor. Whew! The prices are a little bit higher, but it’s in Dublin, so that’s to be expected. You are certainly paying for the atmosphere, the quality of food/beverage, and the entertainment. All said, I was there for a few hours and had a good time. It was also nice to hear that I have friends who have been going to this venue for years, as so many good places fall on hard times and disappear. I would certainly feel very comfortable coming back some night when not working, and having a few drinks.

Went there my first time last night… Pro: They have live music many nights Con: Band happened to be country… and they played ALLNIGHTLONG Pro: They have a dance-floor Con: The pseudo-cowboys wanted to dance with me all night Pro: They have a great little patio Con: No bar outside or waiter service that comes outside Pro: I ended up getting my tab paid for in full(woohoo!) Con: Drinks are a bit pricey(ok not really… but compared to my regular bar, yes) Overall, it was pretty ok. The women’s restroom were pretty clean at the start of the night and only marginally disgusting by the end(better than most). Very eclectic and open crowd. Overall, very fun!
