In from out of town, my guide insisted on showing me all the best that Dubuque had to offer and asked if I liked peanut butter. I love it, so she said I needed to visit the Calico Bean market. Walking through the door, the place is tiny however smells amazing. Like coffee beans and spices. We were offered a sample of the three peanut butter flavors of the day. We tried the honey roasted and peanut butter chocolate. Both delicious! We purchased a pound of each. Service was very friendly and informative! Seeing that we were from out of town, we were informed that they do ship out of state. Great to know, seeing that we will be ordering from them again and we plan on visiting once more before we leave.

I stop here every time I come back to Dubuque. My favorite place to get ingredients for the kitchen! My favorites: garlic mushroom olive oil, smoked hickory vinegarette, and some of there spice concoctions! HIGHLY recommended.

I own a bakery outside of Seattle and I came across this market on the Amazon website as a place that carried a product I was looking for. I contacted this shop directly to place my order and they were more than happy to assist me with what I needed and have been ever since! They are always so sweet and helpful when I work with them and they always go out of their way to get me what I need and in the timeliest manner. I have never been to the shop but if I lived in IA I would be shopping in there all the time! Great little business with great customer service!

This is a neat little shop in the chic chic section of Downtown Dubuque that has a lot of cute little shops. I enjoyed visiting here and browsing through their vast selection of oils, vinegars, herbs and confectionary goods. The owner was a gem… My fellow shopper and I each purchased a few items and after leaving the store I actually went back in and made a second purchase. If you are into vegan, gluten free or just love food and love to cook, you will really enjoy this place. It is quite crowded due to the small space the store has to work with, but thoughtfully arranged.

Calico Bean is a great place for spices, chocolate treats, pasta, grains, and so much more. Stop there after Farmer’s Market and you are set for preparing a great dinner. My favorite thing is the exotic balsamic vinegars and olive oils that you can buy in small or large bottles. Try the cherry balsamic on watermelon chunks. Yummy!

This place is great for people who love to cook. They have bulk food of every kind, including many spices. The women at the counter were very helpful. The store is just fun to browse.

Love this place! Lots of specialty baking ingredients, dried goods, candy, tea, soup mixes, pasta and more! Also a complete selection of spices at prices that are the lowest in town. The fresh ground honey-roasted peanut butter is AWESOME! You’ll be glad you went here.
