My husband and I ordered delivery from China Café last night. We had not had Chinese in Duluth yet since moving here a year ago and decided we wanted to try a place in hopes it could be a regular thing for us. While the delivery was very fast, the food was average at best and I thought it was a little expensive given the delivery charge. I had read another reviewer recommend the beef with ginger green so we got that and it was probably our favorite dish, though I thought it was heavy on white onions and short on «green» anything. The fresh ginger in this dish gives it a much needed kick. The other item we really liked was the cream cheese wontons(but really, how do you go wrong there). The rest of our order was okay, but light on flavor. We had general tsos chicken and it had no spice whatsoever. It was actually better the next day reheated in the oven. We also had garlic broccoli and fried rice and these were fine but again lacking any real flavor. If you want dinner fast and like greasy Chinese food, this is your spot. I would not expect a great deal of flavor, however.

The food here is terrible! The fried rice looked and tasted like the frozen fried rice you get at the grocery store. The beef in my salty Lo Mein was cold in some parts. The food took forever, not sure if they were cooking the white rice. We were disappointed even for our low expectations. We won’t be returning.

Delivery. Food was amazing! Got the lunch special Lo mein. I’m a picky eater and asked for no onions and sprouts and made sure that all of it was how I wanted it. Will be ordering from here again!

If you want lots of Americanized greasy Chinese food, which I admit sometimes I do after a long day of skiing or hiking near Duluth, then this the spot. Pros: Large portions! Food came out fast. Pork dumpling soup was good(better than the egg drop). The Schezuan bean curd under vegetarian options comes with a bunch of veggies which you can’t tell from the menu. It’s pretty good but the Peking dish with 3 different meats was tastier. Get spicy everything, it doesn’t make it at all spicier but helps with flavor. Cons: Veggies aren’t fresh. It’s pretty obvious the mushrooms come out of a can(sigh). Took 10+ minutes for server to take our order since there’s only 1 person for the entire restaurant. While it’s not the greatest, it’s still better than the other options nearby(burgers, Taco Bell, Perkins) and the prices and portions are good. Extra bonus: This place is open on Xmas!

There is too much food! For that price, it’s definitely good deal. As I’ve been to many cities around US, this is a good Little restaurant with more fast food like Chinese dishes:-) but still good deal.

Food is OK but overpriced, staff barely speaks English and is rude. The last time I called I was hung up on 3 times in a row before I could even say«hello, I’d like to place an order». I can deal with the language barrier and have in the past, but not being hung up on. I highly recommend finding a different Chinese restaurant. Nothing special here but poor customer service.

Food is ok. Not worth the price. On the expensive side for deliver. Will find someplace else. In the future

Good food at reasonable prices. Ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan lunch special which comes with Fried Rice and an EggRoll. While the fried rice was mediocre, the Moo Goo Gai Pan had lots of white meat chicken and fresh vegetables. The EggRoll was delicious. Also tried the Spicy Salt&Pepper Wings which were crispy and flavorful. Definitely worth a visit.

My favorite Chinese place in town. Good but not incredible. I have been ordering for years. Good prices. I have only occasionally been disappointed with what I have ordered, altho it can at times be inconsistent, perhaps a different cook. My appetizer go to’s are the Egg Rolls, Cream Cheese Wontons and the Fantail Shrimp. Not so crazy about the Pot Stickers. I usually measure how good a place is by their Fried Rice, initially. I usually get the Pork or Yong Chow here. They are good to accommodate changes. To the Fried Rice I like to add eggs, bean sprouts and extra onion. On other dishes I leave out broccoli or nuts. My favorite dish is the Beef with Ginger Green. Delish but you better like onions and fresh ginger. It’s even better the next day. Today I tried the Beef Chop Suey for the first time. I was very disappointed in that. The sauce was very thin & watery and had absolutely no flavor. It was a totally tasteless dish. Not a single bamboo shoot or mushroom. Not like any other Chop Suey I have ever had. Other dishes I like are Happy Season(med, sometimes it is more mild). If you like your dishes hot, you have to tell them VERY, VERY, VERYHOT or you will get a medium at best. Veg Egg Foo Yung is good, I pretty much stick to the dishes I have tried and liked. Delivery is fast.

Fast, cheap, delicious chinese food. We always get the General Tsao and the cream cheese wontons. I really like the chicken chow mein and sweet and sour chicken combo too!

This restaurant uses MSG and, contrary to what our waitress says, I get very ill when I have this chemical. China Café uses it in most of the food they prepare on sight except the steamed vegetables. If you have a problem with it you have limited options for other things to eat. I had the hamburger which is purchased from the restaurant supplier. My husband had the Moo Goo Gai Pan with an egg roll. He said the egg roll was pretty good and the entrée was above average.

My favorite Asian food spot in Duluth, when it comes to take out. You can order ahead of time, however; wait time isn’t too long when you walk-in. I recommend trying the«spicy salt pepper chicken wings» if you like salty-spicy food :). Very tasty! The Fried Rice is also pretty good with your choice of meat.

Massive portions, had the cantonese chow mein which was unique and good, vegetable chow mein was dissappinting with lots of green pepper that overpowed everything. Ginger beef was fantastic and we also really enjoyed the beef fried rice. It was«old fashioned» fried rice, nice and dark with lots of flavor not the usual chinese buffet style rice you see everywhere. The rice was truly awesome. We also had the homemade eggrolls and wished we had ordered more as they are some of the best ive had. Ive eaten here twice and will definately eat here again. Not a fancy place, very reasonable pricing. The above items fed my family of 5 and had a ton left over. Enjoy.

Besides the food was decent. But when I asked kung pao chicken extra hot, there was kind of the same.

Good and fast delivery service. Great generals chicken, but the triple delight was heavy on the celery. I would recommend this place to my friends.

This place has pretty good Chinese food. My boyfriend loved the General Tso’s Chicken I got. It was so good to him that he wanted to go back again the next day for a double order! We also had fried wontons and chicken wings that were not too bad. We went here for lunch, so we got a meal deal. I wasn’t terribly impressed with the fried rice or egg rolls. They seemed run-of-the-mill to me. The lo mein he got was not the best I’ve ever had, but overall it was OK. Other aspects of the restaurant: The service was good, the menu was expansive with lots of choices to be had, and the actual physical restaurant was pretty decent compared to most of the Chinese restaurants I’ve been in. If I had a hankering for Chinese in Duluth, I might go here again. But since there are so many other good restaurants around that area, I’d probably go somewhere else for different fare.

Generous portions. Food was good but not great. Service(waitress) was fair at best. I’ll try someplace else next time.

The China Café has a great menu. I recommend the Moo Shu(but insist on more pancakes). The service is great; the people who run this place are very nice. The price is very reasonable. They are not flexible about keeping animal flesh and animal products(like eggs) out of their dishes. Really, how hard can it be to not add eggs to the moo shu or to substitute broccoli for the chicken in an entrée? I would have given the China Café five stars if they offered more animal-free dishes.
