During Tuong Vi’s UYE event, we stopped in the Great wall shopping center for lunch on a Saturday, and after perusing all of the shops, I settled in on Humble house. I ordered a super americanized dish of Sesame chicken($ 7.55 before tax), which was plated with broccoli and a side of steamed rice. The Sesame chicken was less sweet than many other locations i’ve tried, which isn’t bad. The meat was breast, tender, and lightly fried, without a heavy coat of grease/breading at all. Not bad! The star of the show for me though, was the pork belly, which I saw someone else order, and had to get a to go order of my own. The pork belly was $ 10.25, and came plated with diced onion, garlic, some sort of leafy greens and a side of steamed rice. I’d never had pork belly before, which is pretty much bacon cooked a different way, but wow, the savory flavor was well received. Very tender with an almost melt in your mouth consistency, and the portion size was definitely able to stretch over three meals, or share with a table of your friends. There is a $ 10 credit card minimum, and they only accept Discover, Visa and Mastercard, so plan accordingly when you come in, and not necessarily a Humble house problem, but if you’re coming to lunch on a Saturday, understand that finding a seat, especially for a group, will take some effort and planning I’ll 100% be back to Humble House to try more of their dishes, as they have a TON of them(pics below). Hopefully if you’re in the area you’ll check them out!

Humble House is the third food restaurant along the row of shops in the Great Wall food court. I’m unfortunately having trouble deciding on a 3 or 4 star rating. My family ordered two dishes from Humble House. One was a home run, while the other was an immediate strikeout. We ordered the stir fried chitterlings and the pickled vegetable pork belly. The chitterlings were on point. They were crispy and greasy and perfectly cooked. I couldn’t stop eating them! As some people know, one of my favorite Chinese dishes is the pickled vegetable pork belly. The perfect proportion of salty and sour veggies to the salty and fatty pork belly needs to be exact or it won’t be the same. The 梅菜(sour vegetable) tasted pretty sour, but it reminded me of sour milk. It tasted like it had gone bad, not the proper pickled. They do accept major credit cards, which means they do charge sales tax. I do recommend you try the chitterlings if you’re adventurous! My favorite dish at Great Wall food court to date. Just don’t waste your money on the 梅菜扣肉.

I had a corn dish with pine nuts; surprisingly very tasty – some garlic, onion and other flavorful elements boosted the flavor, so there was an appealing natural sweetness to it. I’d definitely order it again and check out their other dishes, too.

Humble House is located inside the GW’s market and it’s in the foodcourt area. My boyfriend and I love coming here to eat due to the fresh taste of the foods and the fact that it’s very affordable. We usually get the following dishes and soup: –Seafood soup(for 2) –Mapo tofu –Fish fillet in chili sauce –eggplant with basil –fried intestine All the dishes are really on point and very flavorful. The portion is also huge and is definitely shareable. The only thing that I would say is that if you don’t like oily foods… maybe this place isn’t for you. Most of their dishes does contain a good amount of oil and it could be considered very oily for some. So something for you to consider before trying this place. Other than that… this place never disappoint so I definitely recommend!

The food is a bit too salty for my taste but goes great with rice. This is a great to go place if you ever had a sudden crave for Chinese food! Their food and price are both good!

Another great place to eat at the Great Wall Supermarket! I frequently shop at this store for all my grocery needs and it’s so awesome that they have such a great food court filled with great food to eat! I’ve been sticking to Best BBQ in the end corner but I’ve started to migrate a little bit and tried some of Humble House’s dishes. Soooo good! I have yet to be disappointed with their food. I’ve only stuck with a few of their dishes: ~ Mapo Tofu with Ground Pork I absolutely lovveee this dish. They make it really well and depending on who’s cooking it that day or how the chef feels, I’ve been told by my other friends that I share food with that it can get a little too spicy. I’ve never had that problem of it being too spicy though because I like my mapo tofu a little spicy. I’m sure if you tell them to lighten up on the spice, they’d be sure to make it how you’d like it :) ~ String Beans with Ground Pork This dish is also super good. One of my favorite vegetable dishes! ~ Bamboo Shoot with Pork Also a very good dish. Not as good as the previous two that was mentioned but still a really good dish. They are really generous with the portion size and it’s priced really well. All of those items come with a side of white rice and they give you quite a bit. Like the rest of the restaurants around the food court, they have self-served hot tea, hot water, and cold water. Humble House is a part of the food court so be aware that it gets difficult to find available seats during the weekends and lunch rush, but soooo worth the wait or you can even get it to go. Highly recommend this place!

We eat here at least once a week. Great portion sizes for family meals. They are very generous on the white rice too. Good amounts for the price. Most dishes taste good, but some may be a little oily or salty. Just don’t eat a lot of the sauce. Excellent service. They are the 3rd restaurant on the left side when coming into Great Wall Supermarket.

This place is inside the great wall supermarket so if you want to take food home, it’s great. We were looking to grab food from several of the shops and eat there. The seats in that little food court can get packed but usually not a problem for small groups or couples. The food comes out pretty quickly and it’s spicy Szechuan cuisine. Expect it to come with a fair number of peppercorns and dry red chilis if you choose a spicy dish. I’ve eaten several dishes with lotus roots in it. Usually a fan but they slice it pretty thin and they’ve been dry each time. Aside from that, I’ve never had any issue being full and you can grab water or hot tea on the side of the counter. That’s all you can really ask of a quick takeout location.

This place is in the great wall supermarket. The menu is pretty extensive with tons of pictures. Only the hot dishes come with bowls of rice. The cold mixed dishes do not if you are sharing amongst friends. The food here that we ate were not very impressive. We order the string beans, bamboo with dried tofu and shredded pork, and soft tofu with shrimp. When I go to these places, I judge the food based on whether it is as good or better as my mom’s cooking(or mine since she taught me) — basically whether you can make it at home as good or better. I felt like the three we ate were nothing special. The string beans were not bad. You do need a deep fryer to fry it before you stir fry make it like restaurant quality. It was pretty decent. I would get this again. As for the shrimp tofu and bamboo dishes… I would pass on. I would be willing to try some of the other dishes next time to see if it was just the selections we made. Also one last compliment is that it is a bit disorganized without order numbers. You keep walking up there through the crowd to check is the order at the counter is yours. It would help if they could just yell out a name or order number.

The price, portion, quality, and friendly people are all amazing. The GW food court has matured well. It was bustling on a weekday lunch. This is better than or on par with CQ Hot Pot, Gu’s, or Tasty China, BUTMUCHCHEAPER… The onion pancake was very good, and the fish with spicy sichuan chili oil($ 10) blew my socks off. The ma-la sauce was very nice, and the numbing present, but not overpowering. The use of bean sprouts instead of napa was very nice… I had a rough experience a long time ago at Ping’s in the same food court, and had not returned in a while. Canton seems worth a look as well at GW… busy…

Just amazing Chinese(Sichuan) food I’ve ever had! Huge portions, great price and friendly service! No wonder on any given day, the line stretches way longer than any of the others there in the Great Wall of China food court! Always a good sign! I drove an extra 30 miles today in Atlanta traffic just to get these meals to go! P. S. There is a huge picture menu, so you know exactly what you are getting, just point and order…

Humble House is the bomb. We first tried it when my daughter couldn’t find anything she wanted on Ping’s menu(Ping’s Place and Humble House are side by side in the Great Wall food court) and have been back many times now. The spicy chicken with chili is fantastic but the pork version is even better. A little spicy, a little numbing, a lot of awesome. The garlic eggplant is a must try — we order it every time we go. The pork buns and leek pies are also pretty tasty. Not to mention, it is very inexpensive for the serving size.

Delicious, inexpensive, straightforward, authentic. only thing I might change is the amount of cornstarch used in its fish dish(as a thickening agent). too much cornstarch. but I’d still order from this place at least once a week if I could. :)

I have finally found awesome Chinese after giving up my search. There was nothing in Midtown and I wasn’t thrilled with the BuHi options(excluding the dim sum spots). Humble House has the spice, salt, and yumminess that I crave and seek in Chinese food. The kung pao chicken and shrimp are divine. The hot and spicy fish filet is so wonderful. The mouth watering chicken was just ok for me. I look forward to trying a lot more dishes here. It is amazing how good the food is here and the size of the portions you receive for a small amount of money. They also take credit cards at this spot($ 10 minimum).

So cheap, and so good! Another gem found in the Great Wall Food Court(I love this food court!). Humble House specializes in more Sichuan(spicy & numbing) Chinese food. I tried the fried fish with cumin($ 8.95), clams with chili sauce($ 8.35), spicy chicken with chili($ 7.95), and beef tendon in cold spicy sauce($ 6.55). The portions were both really decent for the price. The flavors were spot on. Spicy and numbing, just the way I like it. I’ll be back here again and again! They take credit card for orders over $ 10. Score!(most of the other stalls in Great Wall are cash only).

Located inside the Great Wall Asian Supermarket is this small restaurant in the food court. It seems to have a following, because there was a line and most of the people are flocking to this spot. Menu is mostly sichuan. I ordered their spicy ‘water cooked beef’ and their basil eggplant. Portions are huge and delicious. The beef was tender and a moderate dose of spicy sichuan. the eggplant was great! Portions are pretty big so, plan to share. Great sichuan in a cozy and informal setting.
