I got to try out this place with a couple of friends. North Dumpling is located next to Thai Pad & Coco Sweets in the same plaza as Sweet Hut Duluth, but on the other end. Loved their pork hot pot. We also sampled their pork and chicken dumplings. Dumplings are boiled, so expect them to be bland. You can mix your own dipping sauce for some flavor. Authentic, fulfilling, and simply delicious. Interior is small, so avoid coming during normal lunch/dinner hours and weekends. They’re limited on staff; minor communication barrier.

Good little dumpling shop and the menu isn’t limited to dumplings only. The service is attentive. The restaurant serves stir fry dishes and hot pot, too. The portion is big and good to share. I ordered pan fried dumplings and a 花椒拌麵. The pan fried dumpling should be thicker however it was made half open and thin dumpling skin. Not the typical ones you have elsewhere. Flavorful but not chewy enough. The noodle is a bit too salty with sausage at he bottom of the soup bowl. It should be spicier, not salty. But overall it’s a nice little family dumpling shop that I would try again.

It was my first time there and I was very disappointed. Fish dumplings came out very bland. Beef hotpot was burned at the bottom and tasted just like it.

Went to try this new dumpling place in this strip mall at Pleasant Hill Rd, waitress doesn’t speak English at all, attitude was rude. I try to write down the dish #s on their«Xerox paper-menu» she told me don’t write on her«Menu». Her understanding of my poor Mandarin is what prompt me to copy down the menu numbers to avoid miscommunication. This piece of paper cannot worth more than 10 cents if that much. Three of us spend $ 45, I normally tip 20%, but I left her $ 5.

This place serves food like home. The lamb chop hot pot is excellent. Eggplant with garlic sauce is just like my Mom’s. The staff is so helpful in suggesting dishes. It’s a little cozy place. We are looking forward to eating our way through the menu.

I have to be honest I did not really enjoy the food as much as I thought I would. I ordered the Szechuan chicken and the pork, shrimp, and chive dumplings. When I ordered the Szechuan chicken the waiter told me that it was cooked 2 ways. I did not know this. He’s English was not that good and I do not hold that against him but I could not understand what he was saying. He tried to explain it but it was not coming out clearly. He said something like the regular way so I said okay just do it the regular way? I had no idea what I was asking for. The dumplings had a lot of liquid and it had a sour overdue smell to it, like the pork was going bad. I know this smell because I cook all the time. I have to say that the dumpling wrap was very tasty, but I did not finish the dumplings because of the smell of the pork. When I tried the Szechuan chicken it was very flavorful but it killed my taste buds and my tongue. The chicken was overly cooked so it was way too hard to chew. I felt bad wasting my food because I don’t like wasting food but I just could not eat any of it. I don’t know if I would go back there.

After church service, my sister’s fiancé suggested we go here. I’ve been away at college so I was just along for the ride since I’ve never heard of it. It’s tucked away into that old shopping center Kroger used to be. Along the same strip as Sweet Hut and Snowflake but just on the other side. We came in with a huge party… Around 10+, and we stacked tables together to fit all of us into one large happy family. There was only one waitress, which is understandable considering the small size of the restaurant. Salted roasted peanuts are served as a tiny little appetizer to wet our appetite as we looked at the menu. The menu is a little confusing. The noodle’s section was what I was looking for since it housed the dumpling menu. Each order comes with 12 dumplings, I felt that was nice to know, and luckily my sister told me, since she’s been here before. I ate about an order and some off the plate of someone who couldn’t finish(my sister’s fiancé, who thought getting 2 orders would not be too overwhelming for him). The pork, shrimp, and chives, I believe is what one order was. This was suggested by my sister since it was her favorite the previous time she went. We got the boiled dumplings(shui jiao) since she didn’t like their fried ones. The dumplings were astoundingly tiny. Almost half the size of what my grandma usually made. I guess I’ve been spoiled by giant dumplings, cause these were little nuggets of filling and dough. They were good though, I’ll give them that. The seafood dumpling was our second choice. We split half and half; 6&6. They were not that great. I would’ve liked another order of the pork, shrimp, and chives over these. They weren’t anything special and just were meh. I also tried a bite of the leek pie. It was interesting to say the least. My sister enjoyed it, and it came out very crispy and filled nicely with leek and other things like little tiny shrimp. I’m not a big fan of it personally, but other people seemed to enjoy it. North Dumpling isn’t a terrible place, though I would almost rather pan fry my own bag of gyoza from Great Wall just down the shopping center or find my grandma and ask her to make me some herself. There’s more than just dumplings and you can certainly eat side dishes with rice. It’s a sweet little restaurant that you know is definitely home made.

I’m a fan of this place. We were supposed to go next door, but that place was so empty… and North Dumpling was semi packed — we were definitely convinced this place was worth a try. North Dumpling is a part of the Sweet Hut/Snow Flake/Coffee By Hand/sort of attached to GW Market — so parking is awesome. So many spots! I’ve never parked far either. Space — Really small. they could probably fit… 30ish people? A little squished together, but it’s okay. Service — I recently(~4 years now) started to eat legit Chinese food/never really ordered at authentic Chinese places so… my knowledge on food here was limited.(I am better with Korean food). But the lady here was really nice & explained every dish I asked about. The guy who works here is very courteous. Food came out with good timing & my water was never empty. I can tell these 2 folks do care about making sure every table gets solid service. Oh, and the lady mentioned their specials and etc without me asking: D Food: I LOVE the Lamb hotpot here. Man… best thing to eat during winter. The portion is very generous too. The broth is delicious. The meat is well done. BUT they do bring this hot pot already done, so it’s really just heating while you eat it. This hotpot also had some cabbage and noodles. All of it was great. Get this if you’re with friends AND if you’re freezing your ass off. I have also tired the Pork Hotpot. Same stuff as Lamb. Broth is also consistent. Nom. Szechuan Chicken — this is way too spicy for me. I only had a few bites. The chicken tasted good & so did the spices included. I wish my stomach wasn’t sensitive! Dumplings: I think I like the cabbage dumplings and the chicken dumplings the most. I rarely eat dumplings, so I’m not an expert. But they weren’t too bad. My main focus turned into the hotpot & Szechuan Chicken. They do give lots of dumplings per plate.

If you’re going to go to a place called North Dumpling, then you better stick with the dumplings. While there are a few pages of other foods to choose from, I came here on a mission: DUMPLINGS. There were about a dozen choices ranging from steamed to pan fried. I went with steamed shrimp pork chives dumplings and pan fried lamb dumplings. The lamb ones had a distinct taste and was light in seasoning. I dipped mine in a combo soy sauce with chili oil. The shrimp pork chives dumplings were mild. I wish it had a more prominent flavor. Overall, both were a good choice at about $ 7 per order. I’ll have to go back to try some of the others. Stay tuned. More to come.

One star is best I can give. First time there and it was far from what I expected. Ordered a few things, tofu hot pot with pickled mustard, it came out in a metal pot with everything thrown in. No flavour with sauce like soup. Imagine eating that makes you want to hurl. fried little fishes, the oil they used to fry them were old and you can tell it must have been used for many many time and they just keep using it. Dumplings, you would think it’s their specialty, hmmmm, think again. The dumpling skin was so thick and rough, the dumpling meat was tough. Last o né was the tendon, it should have never brought out just from the look of it. It’s just dead. Literally a pile of snot in some flavorless sauce on a plate. If only one dish had a problem, it’s cool, but no, it’s all of them. That’s all.

The food at this place is usually pretty good. Although the place is called«dumpling house,» there’s definitely a lot more to choose from than just dumplings. We’ve been here a few times and generally liked the food. However, if you want to try this place, I highly recommend that you DONOT come on the weekends. If the place looks busy, just leave and come back another time. It seems that they may be understaffed and the chef(or the waitstaff) does not know how to manage time. Some dishes we got on this most recent trip were either cold or undercooked. But, the food that were cooked right were not bad. Also, again, if you are dining here on a busy day/night, be sure to double check your bill. We almost got charged for 3 dishes that we did not get. I’m not sure if I’m writing this place off yet. I may come back to give them one last chance — just not on a busy weekend night ;-)

Gave this place 3.5÷5 stars. I was craving some dumplings and found out that this place recently opened so I decided to try it out. First, the place is a bit small so a big party wouldn’t fit well. However, it’s spacious enough for a small group of 4 – 6 friends. Second, even though dumpling is in the name, their dumplings aren’t as good as other places. The other food is much better though! I had the fried silver fish, sichuan chicken, pork belly, and beef noodle soup.(Plus other dishes) The soup was very flavorful and was even better with a little bit of the chili oil provided at all the tables. Rice isn’t handed out unless you ask for it. Thirdly, the food does take a bit to come out. I ordered a plate of green beans and it didn’t come out until the very end where my family and I were close to finishing up. Service is alright. I would’ve liked to have my water refilled at times or a waitress would come and check on us more often to see if anything else was needed. All the workers mainly speak mandarin/Cantonese, but the waitresses know a bit of english so don’t be afraid to speak to them if you don’t know Chinese! Overall, I’d come here again with a friend if I was wanting some beef noodles. Other than that, it was a good place to eat and the menu is pretty diverse

New Chinese restaurant that just opened up. Located in the same shopping center as Sweet Hut on Pleasant Hill road. The restaurant has comfortable seating for a few people, it’s not too big. The menu ranges from all sorts of the usual options for Chinese cuisine. Dumplings may be in the name of the place but they have a variety of dishes other than that. In terms of service, the staff is pretty good overall, they are attentive and will be there for any of your requests. In terms of taste, the food here is pretty spicy and it does pack some flavor to it. The dumplings I got were kind of bland to be honest, but could just be the option I went for. The spicy szechuan chicken was very good and spicy. Portion wise they do give you enough that you can share with one other person or more. Good place to split a meal! Overall it will take another visit and trying out the some of the other menu items before I can properly gauge this place. I liked it in general. Wasn’t blown away by the dumplings or anything, they were okay. I was more impressed by their szechuan chicken. Definitely worth checking out for anyone who’s interested. My Recommendations: –Chicken with szechuan pepper.
