McDaniel Farm Park

I adore this place. So beautiful and peaceful. So quiet, almost like stepping back in time. A great place to go for a long scenic walk, or just sit and read.

Awesome park with good trails and really quiet atmosphere. Really nice location for photo shoots. Will need to go back soon later in the fall.

I found this park by accident, just doing a random search for «parks» on my GPS, and found myself just behind the restaurant strip that houses the likes of MJ’s Korean Tacos and Honey pig off of old norcross road, and boom, there’s a cool park new to me.
The first thing I noticed when I unhitched my bike was… well…there’s a lot of Asian Grand parents hanging at this park, and what someone mentioned about having very little kids at this park was right, as I saw more people over 50 than under 10. But hey, get in where you fit in, so I peddled away.
The Second thing I noticed was the actual McDaniel farm itself, and people were standing in front of it, getting their photos taken. The actual farm is positioned right across a nice bridge that’s not too far from the parking lot and can be reached from a couple of different paved paths.
The trails are mostly paved, and loop around on themselves, before dead ending at a neighborhood. For walking or cycling it’s great, although there’s one hill here that I had to hop off of my bike because it was just too long and steep.
It’s a very comforting park, not a ton of hustle and bustle like other parks, and seems to be the grown folks park, which honestly works for me.

This place is great to go for a walk and look at the old farmhouse, but I’m a total paranoid crazy person so I felt like I was walking through a set for The Walking Dead. Totally creeped me out and would not come here alone. That said, I can certainly see the potential of this place during fall and it is beautiful and very very peaceful. Will come here again for walking with my boyfriend when I feel like «walking on the wild side.»

I like this place a lot better than the park I went to yesterday.
Pros:
1. no kids
2.because of #1 its quiet.
3. Its quiet pretty and scenic
4. The paved course is hilly as you can fly! downhill (but its hard to take advantage of this with so many people walking and in the way)
5. Fun little hidden trails (be careful though of branches hitting you in the face or spider webs)
6. Lot of herbs (you can pick a bunch)
7. pet friendly area.
Cons:
1. too many adults for me still (and the old asian people don’t move for you when you on a bike! thats just ridiculously inconsiderate and dangerous)
2. Some of the asphalt paved roads are just too hilly going uphill with a mountain bike (this place is more for a hybrid bike)
3. people don’t listen to instructions (not a big issue for me but if it says do not pass, you probably shouldnt just ignore that, thats just inconsiderate and reckless, and irresponsible. Nice influence for you children (thats what I think when I see that).
Overall, great park if you like to run and walk and want a pretty peaceful place to do so without having to drive too far its a great selection. Not for bikes though.

I’ve been to McDaniel Farm Park a few times in the past years. Okay, it’s been more than 2 – 3 years, probably 5 years. At that time, it was smaller and the expansion wasn’t there like it is now. I used to come and bring my kids for the pumpkin patch.
Recently, I was in the area and decided to check it out again. A few of my friends have gotten their photographs done there and they turned out gorgeous. It peaked my interest to check it out since it’s been a while. I was impressed with how beautiful the park is and the nice pavements to walk. I can tell that it will be expanded even more.
I love the two areas where the bridges are… soooo pretty! I love taking pics there. I never realized how beautiful this park is and you would never know it’s located in the busy part of Duluth near Gwinnet Place Mall. It’s definitely a hidden gem, tucked away off Old Norcross Road.
During the 2.5 walk on the trail, I spotted a baby deer. What was cool was it wasn’t even scared. It kept eating and staring at us. I was able to get a picture too. I didn’t want to scare it by going even closer.
Overall, amazing trail. I must come back, more!

I love this park! It’s my favorite park in Gwinnett County! It’s a hidden gem located off Old Norcross Rd. between Pleasant Hill Rd. and Satellite Blvd. Inside the park, there is a historical farm house with a large barn, a pavilion, a community garden, and several other cool amenities. It’s a great place for people to come and take cool photos, too.
There is a pretty decent asphalted trail (about 2.5 miles long) as well as a dirt trail that connects to the paved trail for those who don’t mind a bit of mud on their shoes. What I love the most about this park is that you cannot hear the noise from the very busy and heavily trafficked roads that surround this nature refuge.
This park is very well maintained and is not as crowded as other parks in the area. It’s a good place to get away from the house or work and clear your mind.

McDaniel Farm Park is most certainly worthy of my 37^th review.

A walk through this park in such a heavy populated area is like a walk in the past. McDaniel Park was a former cotton farm that has been restored to depict a typical 1930 farm.
The natural beauty of the park can be experienced through several recreational amenities, including a 2.3-mile series of paved loops located within the 133-​acre former farm site in Gwinnett County, a picnic Pavilion, grills and restroom. This natural oasis is a break in the midst of modern day.
There are a number of paved trails throughout this park making it easy to find your way. This is a pet friendly park, so you will see visitors walking their best friends too. I always bring my two dogs with me every time I get a chance to come here. Along the trails there are benches you can stop and relax at while watching natures beauty.

McDaniel Park is definitely my guilty pleasure. I have to admit this park is too pretty not to take pictures here. I’m a picture kind of gal, so I always carry my Canon camera with me. I’ve actually been here so many times not to walk, but to do photo shoots. Believe me, I’ve had my 2 years anniversary photo shoot here, and the pictures came out unbelievably beautiful. I’m not trying to be cocky are anything, but got the idea.
Overall, such a hidden gem in the middle of a populated area. This park is perfect all around.

This park definitely is a hidden treasure in the middle of city and that too close to Pleasant Hill Road. This is like 100 times better than the Shorty Howell Park which is close by… The trails are clean and there is a small creek going through the park. almost all parts of the trail is paved except may be for a small section if you are willing to go off the normal path.
I have come hear a lot of times now… Love this place. its not so crowded as Shorty howell and it has been left untouched. so its very beautiful…

This place is beautiful and unique. Thanks to Unilocal,I went to this park right away after moving to Duluth and it is such a serene haven. You won’t think for a second that you are in the midst of Duluth. It is like having a little stroll through the historic South or the countryside. It is quiet and feels quite safe. The paved trails are long and great for exercising especially if you have a baby carriage to schlep along. I loved that it is right near the Great Wall (GW) Supermarket off of old Norcross, so I was able to enjoy some stellar Wonton soup and a scallion pancake to ruin the calorie burn from my long walk :).

I’ve never liked the idea of walking in parks alone because of the safety factor, but after finding this park, I think I won’t have that problem. There are plenty of bikers, joggers, dog walkers and runners and families at any hour of day and it give this place a very safe feeling. It took me about 45 minutes to walk the park’s longest trail. Very clean, very peaceful, very pretty. I’ll definitely take a stroll here at least once a week.

I absolutely love that I stumbled upon this jewel. It’s tucked away in a perfect spot. I love all of the fun things to discover along the paths and all of the people around make it feel safe. I really enjoyed my run here and I will definitely return.

I remember the first time I visited McDaniel Farm Park thinking… «How have I lived less than 5 miles away from this park for years and not known about it?» Walking around this park, you would have no idea that you are about ½ mile away from the insanity that is Gwinnett Place, Pleasant Hill Rd, and the surrounding area. It’s an absolutely pristine park.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the park provides great photo opportunities and is also great for running and walking. The park provides about 3 miles worth of paved trails, as well as a ½ mile unpaved «nature» trail. The trail winds through heavily wooded areas, rolling grassy hills, marsh land, and even follows a creek for a bit. The amount of different scenery and landscapes within the park is really astounding. I believe you can tour the old farmhouse as well during the day, but I have never done that.
In addition to the main entrance, which is approached from Old Norcross Rd. near Gwinnett Place mall, you can also enter the park from the part of McDaniel Farm Rd that starts from Duluth Hwy (GA 120).
This is simply a great place to come and enjoy the outdoors for a bit.

Excellent and clean. The paved path twists and turns through lovely landscaping. There are some small hills but they add to the atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back again.

McDaniel Farm Park is a hidden gem, tucked away in plain sight. While visiting the area for the holidays, I was looking for a place to walk or hike; nothing too strenuous but a chance to stretch my legs and try and work off some of the holiday eats. This was perfect.
There’s great history dating back to before the Civil War, and the farm area offers a great glimpse back in time. Unfortunately the day I was there the farm area was closed, but we made the best of it and enjoyed the copious trails the park has to offer.
The trails are paved, so don’t expect a rugged walk, but they meander through the trees and near and along Sweetwater Creek. I think all total the trails are only a couple miles long. It was the perfect amount!
McDaniel Farm Park is wonderful and beautiful. I’m a fan and will certainly come back if I find myself in need of some quiet respite amongst the hustle and bustle of life.

This park is one of my favorites in Gwinnett. We are really spoiled for choice but this one stands out. If you are into photography, this park provides a million photo opportunities. You can look through the home of the former owners of the land and walk to the various barns. The trails are great. You would never know that you are a stones throw away from Gwinnett Place Mall.
