T J Maxx

First, let me start off by saying that I am an avid shopper at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. This particular TJ Maxx gets one star from me because I was embarrassed by one of the store clerks for not having my receipt when I was just trying to make an exchange. I came into exchange a toy and I knew that I didn’t have my receipt but I was just there the day before so I didn’t think there would be any problems. (Wishful thinking) The clerk tried to humiliate me and question me on why I didn’t have my receipt if I had just bought the item a day before. After a couple of minutes of being interrogated and going back-​and-​forth with her, she finally gave me a store credit card with much attitude… I went to go find a different toy and when I got back in line to exchange, I witnessed a lady of a different race also exchanging something without a receipt and she did not get any backlash at all. I informed the store manager, but I doubt if she coached the clerk on her unprofessionalism. The bottom line is if you don’t have your receipt be prepared to get embarrassed and if your skin isn’t there color of preference then be prepared to be treated like a criminal.

Just had the worst experience at the TJ Maxx at Pleasant Hill! I bought a beautiful Cynthia Rowley brocade chair along with several other home décor items at several TJ Maxx’s, Home Goods and Marshalls this weekend as I’m redoing my living room. The receipt for my chair very clearly said TJ Maxx. Thinking nothing off it, since the color was way off from my motif, I brought the chair to my closest TJ Maxx at lunch. First, no one asked if I wanted/​need help to get the chair out of my SUV. Then I struggle past the non-​automatic doors into the store… and the cashier freaks out because I’m returning something over $ 100 and GASP… it’s also furniture! Even though my receipt clearly states that I purchased it at a TJ Maxx. She called the manager, and he tells me in a very rude tone that under no circumstances can he take that chair into his store. He has nowhere to store it and nowhere to display it. Then he proceeds to allow me to hall the chair back out by myself all over again. No even a can I help you put that back… what a jerk!
