This was my first motel ever so I didn’t know what to expect as to cleaningness and wondering if its worth a anniversary getaway. I always thought that all motels were dirty and rundown but this one change my perspective lol… My first thought driving up to the place was«wow this is the steepest parking lot I’ve ever parked on» haha. Parking was a little weird for me cause we parked at a angle but it wasn’t bad. Nothing that scared me off from staying here. The check in office is also apart of the breakfast room. I guess it’s kinda convenient. As we checked in the man that gave us our key cards also gave us the WiFi password. When we checked into our room it looked like a simple, small, danty hotel room. From the looks of it, it was Becky approved as to looks and cleaningness. The bed was nice and big but the bathroom was a little small than I thought but I made it work with my boyfriend and I. Onto the bathroom… I’m a super germ freak when it comes to a bathroom but it wasn’t that bad looking. It could’ve look a little better but it’s expected. I would say bring your own soap for hand washing and other soaps cause the soap bar had a weird texture when rinsing it off. Luckily I brought my own body wash, shampoo and face wash but no hand wash haha. The room had everything we needed. We knew that we wouldn’t spend all day in the room so we didn’t really c are for the look except for how clean it is. The room we got was a king size bed included a nice flat screen with some really good channel surprising, a small coffee maker, lots of lights around the room, small closet equipped with an iron board. The only thing is that the blanket is pretty thin for this time around but probably perfect for summer days. Pillows are small and plump though, so that was nice. Overall I rate the motel a 3 for the first impression for any motel I’ve been to. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn’t care where they are sleeping and on budgets. The place is really affordable. Plus you’re in downtown and all the food restaurant are near by or just a couple blocks away.

I give it four stars because it’s affordable and close to everything. Now of course it’s outdated and small with no view of the lake but really if you plan on actually going out to explore this is the best affordable place. Rooms are clean and service is great. Check out is at 11am but I asked if I could keep my car there for a bit longer so I could walk around downtown before heading back to the cities and the front desk guy said it was ok. Canal park is .5 miles away and a nice walk. Holiday inn is right next to this hotel so don’t waste your money on it unless you really want a pool. The breakfast is decent and is from like 730 to 930 and had a good variety. Got the room on Travelocity for $ 84.99 a night, didn’t get to pick room. No mini fridge

I like my hotels like I like my men — clean and cheap. Just kidding. No but really. When I am trying to budget a getaway, the lodging is the last thing I invest in. I am just looking for a bug-free place to lay unconscious in, and hopefully score a free bagel from in the morning. Sleep and carbs — what more do you need to start the day? The Downtown Duluth Motel offered both of these necessities and at an affordable rate. We stayed here recently this summer during the week, which was about ~$ 90/night. The rooms were clean, the AC worked well, continental breakfast and toiletries were provided, and the free on-site parking was convenient. However, there were a few set-backs. Ok, maybe I DO have standards… because we were disappointed that the wifi wasn’t working. Especially since we needed to do some work remotely(we are so good at vacationing). Also, our smoke alarm’s battery was dying and started beeping. I blame my brother for my irrational fear of smoke alarms — when it would go off when I was little, he’d say it was the«Clown Siren» and start screaming, «The King Clown in coming!!» as I would cry and wish I was dead. Fun times HA! So by beep #2 at the motel, I was on the phone with the front desk asking them to come fix it. The attendant was not super enthusiastic to help, and I had to coax a spare battery out of her. For some reason, no one was able to swing by and do it for us as we left the room, so I stayed and haphazardly did it myself. Oh, and there weren’t actually any bagels at the continental breakfast, but the other options(english muffins, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal etc) were sufficient. We checked in and out with this one dude, who was extremely nice, so props to him too.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were neat and clean. Everything looked well taken care of. Great place to stay for a very fine price. Wifi worked consistently. The beds are super comfortable. I slept like a baby.
