We booked this little motel on St Patrick’s Day after a recommendation from a friend. We had been looking for a hotel/motel in downtown Dunedin and everything I found online was around $ 179-$ 350. We booked a small room here for $ 79. They also have larger rooms with kitchens for only a little more. We only needed a bed for the night to sleep off our booze, so we were happy with the cheapest option. It is a very old motel, so there was a bit of a funky smell, tons of windows(all were covered with shades), and some little weird quirky odd things(a sideways soap dish that couldn’t hold soap… not really sure what it was supposed to be… but it looked like a sideways soap dish). There was also an old school window banger, but it worked well. The only real issue I had with the room was that the bed was super, super soft and uncomfortable. If one of us turned in bed, the whole bed bounced for 5 minutes afterwards. I felt like I was at sea. Not really what you want when you have been drinking. Luckily St. Patrick’s day was super rainy and gross and I didn’t get plastered. We were able to sleep a little, but we ended up waking up super early and dropping our key in the drop box. For reference: this motel is within a small walking distance of 7th Sun Brewery, Dunedin House of Beer, Dunedin Brewery and everything downtown. I would consider staying here again just because the price is so cheap. The place wasn’t bad, just old and the bed was a little uncomfortable.

Went to wine & Blues festival a few weeks ago and decided to stay over. Everything was full due to the event except the Amberlee. Wow, I was disappointed and mad at myself for not making plans earlier. I met a friend from St. Pete there for the festival and they insisted in showing us the room, before we checked in, now I was really worried. It was a nice size room with 2 full beds and 2 arm chairs and a full kitchen(yes including stove/oven). It reminded me of when I was a kid traveling with my parents. It was vintage. It was quiet, comfortable, friendly, clean, safe and $ 65.00. Yes you read right $ 65.00. LOL, now I was proud of myself and what a great find I unearthed and how much money we saved!!! There was even a pool out back. AC& ceiling fan worked great. I think, it would be great for families on a budget(except there were no dishes, ans or utensils. Maybe if you were staying a week these items are available, but not laying around for people to walk off with). It is also great for someone going to event in town and just needing a place to sleep and shower. It is a great place for anyone that isn’t a HOTEL snob. What’s a girl to do when she makes late plans… save money!
