Best bagel sandwiches around. Have to come here every time I’m in Dunellen. Don’t forget the salt pepper ketchup. Can’t find bagels like this on the west coast. Ignore the reviews about the attitude, it’s a bagel shop not a fancy sit down restaurant.

My family loves the bagels! The only drawbacks are they close very early and do not accept credit and debit cards. Which pushes us to go somewhere else.

If you want a real bagel — not just«round bread» — Dunellen Bagel has it. I know of no better or more authentic bagels to be found anywhere. My favorites here are bacon, egg, and cheese on a sesame, poppy seed, or onion bagel and the bacon cheeseburger on a bagel. I didn’t take off for appearances, because it’s not a sit-down place. You order food in an always-busy queue and take it with you(or eat outside at self-serve, patio tables in the summer). The bagels are special, and the place always seems to be packed when it’s open(breakfast and lunch), especially on weekends, when they also have a couple of baked goods, and people have more leisure to go to their favorite places.

Best pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwiches in the world. I like mine on a garlic bagel.

I was NOT impressed at all. The veggie cream cheese spread had large strings of carrot which made up more then 40% of the vegetables in the spread. The bagel was supposed to be toasted. If the bagel was held even in front of a toaster I would have been impressed. I ordered a toasted sesame seed bagel with veggie cream cheese. I receivied a soggy bagel with cream cheese and a mouthful of shredded carrot. My father swears on this place, but based on my first time experience I say it’s better to travel 1.5 miles down 28 to bagel bistro in middlesex. I would not recommend this place for a bagel unless I was mad at them.

Amazing bagels made fresh! But the place is so old and dirty inside. It’s gross! The food is always great but I don’t understand how they can’t scrub the floor. There are cobwebs hanging from the light, black dirt on the white tiles. Maybe it’s been dirty so long it can’t be cleaned. Maybe a remodel is in order.

After another awesome experience at Dunellen Bagel, the friend I was with(who has never read my Unilocal reviews), looked at me and said«yknow, as good as the food is here, it just isn’t worth putting up with the shitty customer service. I’m done coming here.» And there ya have it. Thanks for the memories, DB. I’ll miss your bagels, but I wont miss your miserable, unprofessional, rude employees.

Breakfast sandwiches are good but the past two times we have gone they didn’t have everything bagels. What bagel place runs out of bagels on a Saturday morning around 9am?! They need to prepare better.

This used to be our go to bagel shop as the bagels are delicious and authentic but over time we were turned off by the dinginess of the shop(which makes us question the cleanliness). Very small storefront that can be tough to navigate on busy weekends too.

Good bagels, bad bagel sandwiches… They make a good bagel and you can practically watch them do it, but –in terms of their delivery– never fail to disappoint me. It doesn’t matter if you prefer a buttered or cream cheese bagel, an egg sandwich, or deli meats or spreads on your bagel, whatever you order at Dunellen Bagels will be arguably the sloppiest sandwich you’ve ever had. It won’t be sliced in half(unless you ask) and ingredients will be hanging out of the sandwich until they eventually get pushed out, leaving you to eat the bagel and insides separately

I go here for breakfast 2 to 3 times a week. Bagels are always fresh and the sandwiches are excellent. It’s a small place and gets crowded quickly but I’ve never waited longer than 5 minutes for my food.

Its a nice bagel. No the top of the line but a very pleasant and suitable bagel. The coffee is William Law and its excellent but weak. It gets crowded and there can be a line. Everything is fresh and good. There are numerous bagel shops around the area. Bagels 4 you in Warren is a bit better and has a greater variety of quality stuff.

I’m originally from Queens, NY and getting great, hot bagels was a part of growing up. They say you only miss things once you don’t have them and truer words were never spoken. Moving to Dunellen in the mid ’80’s I miss my fresh, hot bagels available 24 hours. Dunellen Bagel has been around for a long time and make a pretty decent bagel. Wish the bagels were a bit thicker-hard to hold a good schmear-but two other bagel joints in the area have closed up, so they must be doing something right. They are not cheap at over $ 10/dozen, but they at least do give you a ‘Baker’s Dozen’(13). They sometimes advertise coupons locally giving you four extra with each dozen. The owners are friendly and there’s few better aromas than fresh bagels being made. My advice-support your local bagel store! Before long, the only bagels you’ll be able to buy will be be fished out of a lucite bin with thongs at the supermarket. Dunellen Bagel still makes them fresh-right in front of you, Go buy a dozen today.

I’ve been coming to Dunellen Bagel since I was a kid and always make sure to stop in when I’m back home visiting. They’re bagels are delicious and you can never go wrong with one of their sandwiches. I’m not a huge coffee drinker so I’m not sure what they’re coffee is like. The service is always good, the guys who own it are really nice. Definitely stop by for breakfast if you’re in the neighborhood or on the way to the train station.
